It was not until Selina had settled in that she started getting into her work.
Long Peace Group’s business was the same as that of HT Group. Selina used to work in sales department of HT Group, but she actually specialized in interior design.
At that year, she studied this major because she had always liked interior design. To turn a roughcast house into home was the warmest dream that she ever had.
Later, when she got a job at Long Peace Group, she had created an interior design department and made great achievements. However, the department was soon disbanded as they didn’t have a professional leader.
Selina was actually grateful that she was able to return to her former career.
However, she had just returned after all. There were many information and documents that she needed to be familiarized with. Hence, Selina’s work got even busier.
When she got home in the evening, she quickly prepared dinner and went upstairs to read.
When Manfred returned, he smelled the aroma of the dishes in the dining room. Selina was nowhere to be seen, so he went upstairs to look for her. She pleaded, “I’m really busy now. I’m sorry, could you eat by yourself today?”
Manfred slapped her butt as he felt unhappy, “How dare you instruct me now?”
“I didn’t mean it! I’ll go down to eat with you now and read this later.”
It was obvious that Selina didn’t have the thought to do so at all, so he didn’t call her downstairs.
He was used to eat alone previously, so he didn’t think much about it. Now that he had gotten used to eat with Selina, his appetite became hearty while looking at her.
But now that he had to eat by himself again, Manfred didn’t feel like eating anymore after taking two bites.
He dropped the chopsticks and went to the study room.
After settling the matter, the woman who should have taken a bath by now was still sitting over there. Manfred was pissed, “Selina, you should sleep now!”
Selina was still looking at a case, and she didn’t understand a thing at all.
Since Manfred starting talking, she complained, “How couldn’t I understand this?”
Upon listening to her, Manfred took a glance at it. Then, he directly knocked her head, “Dummy! It’s like this…”
There was no doubt in Manfred’s capability. After his explanation, Selina finally cheered up and reached over to kiss his face, “Thank you.”
“That’s all?” Manfred was unhappy.
Usually, Selina would definitely coax him already, but she hesitated today, “I haven’t finished reading these things yet. I’m still a newcomer, there are many things that I have to familiarize. How could I hinder the company? So, I can’t accompany you tonight.”
Manfred, “… come again?”
“I’m really sorry.” Selina pursed her lips. She suddenly remembered a Hello Kitty doll that she had bought while shopping, so she quickly flipped it out and stuffed it into Manfred’s hands.
“Hello Kitty is my favorite! She will accompany you on behalf of me. Rest early!”
Manfred, “…” Looking at the pinkish doll in his hand awkwardly, he wanted to throw it away subconsciously. But seeing the smile on Selina’s face, he sighed heavily and threw the doll towards the bed.
Never mind that. Selina was rarely this happy.
After lighting a cigarette, he leaned against the bed and looked for a book to read.
It was a warm and peaceful night, but it felt especially touching.
In a blink of an eye, four days had passed. Selina was not only occupied, but she became even busier now.
Lawrence saw Manfred’s gloomy look as soon as he entered the office, so he teased him, “What’s wrong? You looked as if you couldn’t satisfy your desire. Sister-in-law doesn’t want to entertain you anymore?
Manfred glared at him, and he immediately shrugged his shoulders, “I didn’t say anything.”
After pausing for a moment, he said again, “Well, my sister in law has just started working. It’s like that. You’ll have to suffer for quite some time!”
“Why are you here?” Manfred looked at him impatiently.
“Oh! Of course I’m here to tell you something!” Lawrence said. “Franklin was sentenced for thirty years. Also, HT Group had gone bankrupt and it was taken over by another company. With your instructions, Horace was also charged and sentenced for ten years.
“Okay.” Manfred took a pull of his cigarette, “Who had taken over HT Group?”
“The Cornell Group!” Lawrence said.
The Cornell Group again! Manfred frowned.
Lawrence wheezed and laughed, “You’re not satisfied with the Cornell Group now?”
“Get out of here!” Manfred exclaimed. Lawrence dared not offend his anymore, so he turned around and left.
Osborn came in and asked, “Mr. Gordon, what would you like for lunch?”
“You arrange it!” Manfred said. After thinking about it, he stopped Osborn, “Forget it, don’t worry about me. I’m going out.”

After many days of struggle, Selina had finally begun to understand her profession.
Another morning had passed after she finished settling a case.
Someone tapped on her table, so she raised her head and saw a man smiling gently at her.
“Mr. Cornell!” Selina quickly stood up.
Darnell’s face was filled with grievance, “It’s time to be off duty. I thought we were friends. You didn’t forget that you still owe me a meal, right?”
After he had deliberately mentioned this for a few times, Selina felt really reluctant to reject him again. She nodded, “You decide where to eat then!”
“Okay!” Darnell smiled. “Well, there’s a newly opened French cuisine restaurant nearby that i haven’t tried yet.””
The two of them went downstairs one after another. Darnell muttered, “I’ll drive.”
Selina didn’t have a car, so she stood at the entrance and waited for him. The sun was extremely bright today. Although the weather was hot, it gave people a feeling of hope.
Selina tipped the corner of her lips. Then, she covered her face using her hand and looked at the sky.
Darnell opened the car door and walked over. He blocked the sun with his body, “Aren’t girls usually afraid of getting tanned? It seems you’re not worried about it?”
“Well, the sun is fine!” Selina smiled.
Manfred got off the car and saw Selina standing with a man. They were facing each other while talking. The sun shined on Selina’s face, making her look extremely radiant.
So the reason she wanted to work at Long Peace Group, was because of him?
His face became slightly gloomy as he opened the door and got off the car.
Darnell had already turned around and opened the car door for Selina, signaling her to get in, “No matter how much a beautiful lady loved the sunshine, she shouldn’t be in the sun for so long and got sunburned.”
Selina felt his actions were a little inappropriate. She was still thinking of how to reject him that didn’t realize Manfred was approaching them.
His big hands reached out and pressed on the upper part of Darnell’s car door. Selina stunned when someone dragged her body towards the back. She tightened her heart as she looked at the person who pulled her.
Manfred? Why was he here?
Manfred muttered in his cold tone, “What? Since when did the eldest son of the Cornell family become a driver?”
Selina was startled because Manfred looked really scary, and on the other hand, she didn’t expect that the man in front of her was actually the young master of the Cornell family.
She heard that it was his idea to take over Long Peace Group, but why was he only working as a manager in the sales department?
Darnell was startled at first, but soon he put a gentle smile on his face, “Oh, it’s Mr. Gordon. Why do you suddenly have the time to come over?”
“I haven’t ask, why would a manager like Mr. Cornell take a small employee out for lunch?”
Darnell wasn’t dumb. He looked at the two of them after listening to Manfred’s words.
“The relationship between you two is…”
“Selina is my woman!” Manfred muttered.
