“Well, that’s what you said!” The man laughed. “If you really felt sorry, you could treat me for a meal now.”
Selina hesitated, “I’m sorry. I’m afraid that I won’t be available tonight.”
It was quite late already. Selina had to go back and prepared dinner for Manfred. This was her duty and obligation as a lover.
“It’s fine!” The man was really amiable, “There are plenty of opportunities when you get to the company in the future.”
“Thank you!” Selina said sincerely.
Just when she was about to leave, the man muttered, “My name is Darnell. Don’t forget it again.”
Selina nodded simultaneously.
In the evening, Selina prepared a candlelit dinner.
As soon as Manfred returned, he saw Selina sitting on the dining chair under the yellow light ray and her eyes were shining brightly.
He walked over and kissed the top of her hair. Manfred muttered, “Did something good happen?”
“Yeah!” Selina nodded with a smile, “I’ve found a job.”
“At the Long Peace Group?” Manfred maintained his posture and asked faintly.
Selina quickly nodded as she couldn’t contain the joy in her heart, “I used to work there, and I’ve got the same job this time. I’ll definitely be able to…”

Although he knew from the beginning that Selina had the thought of running away, he still felt uncomfortable to hear her saying it out herself.
Manfred frowned and said coldly, “Don’t go.”
“Why?” Selina raised her head and looked at him. Her joy was crushed when she heard his words!
“No reason. I just don’t want you to go.”
Manfred could feel that Selina was disappointed, so he lowered his tone and said nicely, “Osborn had already arranged everything. You’ll be my personal assistant, and you can come to work starting form tomorrow.”
His personal assistant?
Only then, Selina realized that Manfred promised to let her go to work so easily was just to make her happy. It was just like owning a pet at home and teasing it. He had never thought that she could gain freedom and respect.
Hence, she was only given a job as a personal assistant that had to follow him around all day.
In the end, just like when she was still in the Keith family, she would lose herself again.
“I’m not going!” Selina said with a determined and harsh tone.
It was the first time she had spoken to Manfred in this tone since they were together.
“Good girl, don’t get angry now!” Manfred stretched his hand out and wanted to touch her hair, but Selina pushed his away, “I’m not angry, I’m just expressing my opinion. I want to go out to work myself, not becoming your assistant.”
“Is there any difference?” Manfred frowned. She wanted to work, so he gave her a job.
“Of course there is!” Selina’s chest pounded hard due to her anger. “I want to gain my own self-worth, and not live my life like a dog by your side forever!”
Manfred tightened his gaze, “Isn’t your self-worth to stay by my side and carry out your responsibilities as my lover? What’s wrong? Have you forgotten in just a few days?”
Selina’s heart throbbed when she heard his words.
She smiled bitterly, “That’s right, my self-worth is just to live like a dog by your side. I’ve forgotten about it! I’m sorry.”
She bowed politely at Manfred and returned to her seat at the dining table, “Mr. Gordon, let’s eat now!”
Manfred frowned when he heard her addressing him by his last name. He testily pulled down his tie and said, “I’m not eating!”
Then, he went straight towards upstairs.
The door wasn’t close, so soon he heard the sound of a woman sobbing in the living room downstairs. Manfred frowned. He realized that his words were too harsh just now, so he regretted it a little.
It was an emotion that annoyed him very much. Over twenty years of living, he had never felt this before. However, it appeared so unexpectedly now that he was caught off guard.
He lighted a cigarette and smoked it, but his heart was even more fretful.
He directly put out the cigarette and went downstairs.
Selina was still sitting in the same place without moving. Manfred went over and pulled her up. Before she could react, he lowered his head and planted a kiss on her lips.
His kiss stopped her tears.
Not knowing if it was because of his words earlier, Selina did not resist at all. She just stood straight over there at his mercy.
Manfred’s heart throbbed in pain watching Selina’s expressionless face. He let go of the strength in his hand and gently kissed the tears on her cheeks. Then, he held her in his arms.
Her ear was resting on his chest.
“I’m sorry.” These two words came out from his chest and resonated.
Selina wasn’t so sad at first, but now more tears were streaming down her cheeks. She subconsciously hit his chest, “You idiot, bad guy, devil!”
Manfred wasn’t angry at all and allowed her to continue scolding him with these phrases. Lastly, since Selina was lying on his chest, her tears and nasal mucus were stained on his clothes.
When Selina had finally calmed down, Manfred took a sigh of relief.
“Dumb woman.”
“You’re a big idiot!” Selina was still not showing any weakness. Manfred couldn’t help tipping the corner of his lips, “You really think so? I think you better not go to the Long Peace Group then!”
“Fine!” Selina said angrily, then she suddenly stunned.
“What did you say? The Long Peace Group?”
“I thought you said you weren’t going anymore?”
“I’ll go!” Selina suddenly became anxious, but Manfred’s face was as cool as ice and ignored her.
Selina hurriedly rushed over and hugged his waist. “Don’t go, Manfred! I promise you that I’ll come back on time every day to accompany you. Although I’m going to work, nothing will change and everything will be just like before!”
Manfred narrowed his eyes, “You’re not calling me Mr. Gordon anymore?”
Selina quickly shook her head and her soft lips repeatedly rubbed against his back. Manfred stiffened his body. Then, he turned over and pressed her on the couch.
After a passionate night, Selina woke up early the next morning.
By the time Manfred went downstairs, Selina had already prepared breakfast joyfully. “I’ve asked Osborn, he said that you enjoyed eating these, so I made quite a lot for you. After you have finished eating, just leave the bowl and chopsticks in the sink. I’ll wash it when I get back.”
With that, she grabbed her bag and was ready to leave for work.

Manfred narrowed his brows, “Hmm?”
When Selina heard him, she turned around and saw Manfred pointing at his lips. The next second, he pulled her over and gave her a fiery rough kiss.
“Hey, my makeup!” Selina pursed her lips and glared at him. She hurriedly took out a makeup mirror to touch up her makeup before she got out.
She quickly made it there and felt fortunate that she wasn’t late.
Selina used to learn about marketing, so she applied to work in the sales department this time.
It was such a coincidence that Darnell was actually her immediate superior.
