Darnell was stunned when he heard but the smile on his face did not change and said, “Even if that was the case, Mr. Gordon you’re being too sensitive. It’s just lunch between friends…”
“Hah…” Manfred scoffed and ignored Darnell.
“Selina, I didn’t expect you to have a friend such as Mr. Cornell. If I had known that you had looked for him initially, it wouldn’t come to this today!”
Selina frowned and felt uneasy about the situation but continued to explain, “It was because I accidentally knocked Mr. Cornell, that’s why I agreed to give him a treat as a form of apology.”
“You knocked into him and have to give him a treat? Are you so free? Have you completed the things within your responsibility?”
The more he said, the more it got nasty. Selina also could detect that he was trying to get back at her for neglecting him these few days. She knew that she was only a mistress and endeavored to do her things well. But she didn’t expect him to make things difficult for her publicly.
She felt depressed and then said, “I’m sorry it’s my mistake. I won’t continue with the meal, alright?”
Darnell maintained his calm expression and said, “Mr. Gordon, that’s not a nice thing to say…”
Manfred replied with an attitude, “Mr. Cornell, mind your own business!”
After he said, he turned and walked away. Darnell frowned when he saw the two of them walk away.
Lawrence called as soon as he reached the car and said, “Bro, come out for some fun!”
Manfred kept quiet as he didn’t like to participate in such activities.
Lawrence pestered, “Hey, don’t accuse me of not being a pal. I noticed that you were having a foul mood and that’s why I asked you to come out. Forget it if you don’t wish to.”
“Where are you?”
“Oh wow!” Lawrence became excited, “So you are really upset with Selina?”
“Forget it if you don’t want to say where you are.”
“Hang on. I’m waiting for you at the YES Club!” Lawrence relented.
Manfred raised his eyebrows as he hung up the call and drove towards YES Club.

Selina looked at the business plans after she returned to the office. But no matter how she tried, she was unable to concentrate. What Manfred said rang in her ears and caused her to feel very troubled.
Darnell walked over, placed a cup of coffee on her desk, and said, “I’m sorry for what happened just now…”
“No, it should be me who should apologize,” Selina said softly.
On saying this, the colleagues started to come back and everyone was getting ready to begin their work. Selina picked up the documents and said, “Mr. Cornell, I’m getting back to my work.”
Darnell nodded but after taking several steps, he turned around and reminded, “The regulations of the Gordon family are very strict, you must be careful.”
Selina paused and then smiled bitterly after a while. Her situation with Manfred was only transactional and would never meet his parents. So how could the family regulations apply to her? Even if that was the case, Selina went home immediately after work. No matter what, she was still with Manfred and should do properly what she had to do.
There were a lot of passengers on the public bus at this hour. After Selina boarded the bus, she found a place in the middle of the bus to stand.
As she was pondering what she should cook today, suddenly someone behind her yelled, “Thief!” Selina was stunned and saw someone running towards her and bumped into her arm. Selina heard a snap coming from her arm and then squat down due to the intense pain.
The rest of the passengers captured the thief and the driver came over to ask her, “Miss, are you alright? Shall I send you to the hospital?”
Selina shook her head as there wasn’t sufficient time, “No need, just let me off at the market over there.”
The driver didn’t insist and drove over to the market and Selina got off the bus.
She endured the pain and went to the market to buy some vegetables. But the pain became more intense. Selina clenched her teeth and looked at the part where she was hit and it was swollen.
The lights turned red and she didn’t think twice and started to cross the road.
As soon as she reached the middle of the road, her arm could not bear the pain anymore and the vegetables dropped all over the road. Selina wanted to pick up but a car sped past and all the vegetables were crushed.
When Selina saw those crushed things, she couldn’t bear anymore, squat down, and hugged herself. She only wanted to have a new beginning but why didn’t the heavens give her any new hopes?

At the YES Club, Manfred leaned back onto the sofa. From the moment he arrived, he pulled a long face and did not smile.
Lawrence held onto a beautiful hostess as he walked over and remarked, “Bro, are you serious? I asked you out for you to relax and you came just to drink by yourself?”
Manfred maintained his silence as he glared coldly at him.
Lawrence let go of the woman and leaned over to Manfred, “Both of you really had fallout?”
“Ah…” Manfred scoffed, “It’s just a woman!”
“Tsk! Tsk!” Lawrence pursed his lips and said, “Yeah, it’s just a woman and nothing more! There are so many beautiful women over here. Pick one and try someone out. You can also test out whether your quirk can be satisfied by someone other than Selina.”
After saying this, he hooked his finger and called a woman over to him. The hostess had a clean look with long flowing hair. She actually looked pretty but was far from that heartless vixen!
Lawrence grabbed her arm and said, “You should know Mr. Gordon. You better treat him well!” After saying this, he pushed her towards Manfred. She lunged over to Manfred and he frowned immediately. Just as she almost fell onto him, he stood up and walked off.
Lawrence was stunned and asked, “Where are you going?”
“Home!” Manfred said.
Manfred sped along the way and returned to the Bishuiwan Community.
The house was cold and empty without a person in sight. Manfred’s gaze darkened and thought, “This woman had gotten more brazen! She even dared to not come home after work! Great! So be it!”
Manfred pushed open the door to go out but his phone rang as he was leaving. Manfred looked and it was Selina’s call. His expression turned warmer as he answered the call.
However, it was a stranger’s voice who said, “Hi, may I ask if you are Ms. Jones’ family? She is hurt and she’s at our hospital…”
Manfred’s heart sank as he asked, “Which hospital?”
The caller said an address and Manfred immediately rushed over.

At the hospital lobby, Selina sat and looked in a daze at the intravenous dripping droplet by droplet. The cold liquid flowed from her veins into her heart.
Suddenly, a shadow cast over her head. Before she could see clearly, she was already in the warm embrace of Manfred.
“Where are you hurt?” Manfred asked.
Selina lowered her head and she was flooded with emotions.
Manfred frowned, “Cat’s got your tongue? Hmm?”
“I’m fine!” She sniffed, “I’m sorry that all the vegetables had been crushed. I failed at tonight’s task again.”
She was so stubborn and yet so adorable.
Manfred looked at her bruised arm and heaved a deep sigh.
