Chapter 18: Strong Resistance

A faint whiff of mint was lingering on the man’s body, and it was mixed with a scent of tobacco. This intoxicating scent was luring Selina into complete resignation.
The man’s lips brushed her ears, which elicited goose bumps on her skin. She pushed him away without warning, “Let me out now. I will think of a solution myself.”
“You are going to resolve this on your own? There are countless men like Franklin lurking in every corner of this hotel. You seem to be afraid of me, yet are you not afraid of those men?”
His words were no mere threat. For an alluring beauty like her which was under the effects of a strong drug, she would have no resistance for any men she would encounter later on.
“You don’t need to be concerned with that. Let me go now.”
After saying that, Selina tried to push Manfred away again and stagger to the door once again.
This time, Manfred didn’t stop her.
He could see that she was already at her limits. She was even unknowingly tearing off the pieces of garments on her body.
When she realized what she was doing, she crashed onto the floor.
“Selina!” Manfred hurried over, “Why are you still hesitating at such a juncture?”
The next second, Selina’s hand caught an ashtray on the table.
With a loud crashing sound, the ashtray was smashed into smithereens after it was flung to the floor.
In Manfred’s horrified gaze, she picked up one of the shards and started to impale her own thigh.
“Selina, you…” Manfred gnashed her teeth as he stared at this woman in front of his eyes. This was the first time he was mind-blown at a seemingly weak woman.
As the pool of blood began to spread on the floor, Manfred felt a sense of urgency for the first time. He jogged over and carried Selina off the floor and headed to the hospital.
In the hospital, the doctor cursed under his breath while bandaging her injuries, “Her family members were way too careless. This is a deep wound. If she’s not careful, she could have slashed her aorta. That would be a big deal.”
Manfred narrowed his eyes and thought that this woman was really something else.
However, he must admit that she had won this bet. The sharp pain broke her out of the influence of the drug, and in the process changed Manfred’s perception of her.

The next day, when Selina came back to consciousness, Manfred was no longer anywhere in the hospital.
After asking the nurse, she learnt that the man who had sent her here was already gone. However, before he left, he had paid for her medical bill.
Selina felt funny as she imagined telling this story to others. It would have sounded unbelievable. The number one formidable top guy in Russell City’s commercial circle who was known for being ruthless towards women not only sent her to the hospital, he also settled her bill.
At the same time, her phone started to ring in her bag. Selina hurriedly answered the call.
It was her assistant’s anxious voice, “Ms. Jones, you finally pick up my call. Where are you now? Mr. Keith was looking for you since early morning. Did something happen?”
“I am coming back now.”
After saying that, Selina discovered to her surprise that there were clothes prepared for her on the side of the bed. She got up and got a change of clothes.
When she returned to office, the first thing she saw was Horace’s angered gaze, “Selina, you really did a big number this time. You are required to meet the client, but you have scratched the client’s face. The client is now going to sue us, do you think you can bear this consequence?”
He was talking about Franklin? Selina snorted coldly, “Then why don’t you ask him properly the reason I have scratched his face?”
Horace couldn’t help frowning, and he had an undecipherable expression now.
“I know that sometimes conflicts may arise when you are dealing with clients. Can’t you just endure a little more for the sake of the company?”
“Conflicts? So he has told you that we had a conflict? You can go ahead and ask him to sue me. Coincidentally, I want to sue him too. He had put some drugs into my drink and he attempted to molest me! Let me see by then if the police will stand on my side or his side!” She made her intentions clear and she was about to call the police.
“Selina!” Horace snatched his phone away, “Aren’t you fine now? Do you need to make a huge ruckus out of this? Mr. Herman said that he would forget about all of this if you were to apologize to him.”
