Guest rooms were located above this hotel, and Manfred had occupied a suite here all year long. He hurled Selina onto a bed while standing beside it. He lit his cigarette as his gaze hovered above her.
The woman who was lying in bed was starting to writhe around under the effects of the drug. His pair of watery eyes looked all the more seductive under the glow of the dim lights.
Manfred inadvertently recalled that just a month ago, on that beautiful night, this same woman was sobbing underneath his might.
He was never a morally upright person, and he was never really a gentleman. In the first place, he could have captured her for his own using his sick ways, but when he was faced with her headstrong stubbornness, something inside him wavered.
However, deep down he knew that he was just waiting for her to submit to him willingly!
He closed his eyes and took in a deep breath. Then, he asked, “Have you thought things through?”
It was a familiar voice which pulled Selina back from her previous muddy state. She struggled to sit up while shooting a wary glance at Manfred, “Why are you here?”
“Then, who are you expecting?”
When he articulated these words, his voice was strangely hollow, and there was a hint of mild anger in his tone.
“You are really outrageous. It is true that you can really just suck up to any guy!”
Selina felt something tightened inside her. It seemed that nothing she did could change the fact that she was just a shameless woman in his heart.
“I’m sorry to be a bother. I will leave now.”
After announcing her decision, she got down from bed and staggered towards the door. Manfred seized her, “With the state you are in now, where are you planning to go to?”
“That’s none of your business!” Selina wriggled around to break free from his grasp.
“You stupid woman!” Manfred was seething with anger, “With the state you are in now, are you going to just do it with any man when the drug is in full effect?”
Selina felt a cold shudder ran through her heart, “Mr. Gordon, are you seeing yourself as a noble saviour? Aren’t you harbouring the same exact thoughts too?”
This time, Manfred didn’t find any words to refute her. The smoke emanating from his cigarette shrouded his face and concealed his expression. At that moment, his thoughts and feelings couldn’t be seen through.
After some time, he stubbed out the cigarette in his hand and settled into a sofa while smirking, “Right, you are right. I can admit that. A month ago, I have said something which the power of the words still holds true now. As long as you agree to me, from now on, nobody can ever lay a finger on you again!”
Selina pressed her lips into a line as she shook her head defiantly, “No, I will still give you the same answer. Mr. Gordon, I don’t agree to your terms!”
Upon hearing that, Manfred’s gaze somehow quivered albeit the movement is very subtle.
“I really thought that after a month has gone by, you would have known what’s good for you. Horace is not suited for you at all.”
“You’re right, he’s not suitable for me, yet are you saying that you will be the one for me?” Selina let out a bitter laugh, “On one hand, I am just an abandoned partner who only looks good in name, and on the other hand I would become a mistress who could never see the day of light. Both are equally despicable. I have endured enough of those days, and I will never want to go back to those days anymore.”
Her answer caused Manfred to raise his brows.
It seemed that this woman was more than meet the eyes.
At the moment, another wave of the drug’s effects swept over her, and it was stronger than ever. Selina understood that she was approaching her limits, so she struggled to turn around and leave.
When she brushed past Manfred, a huge hand stopped her in her tracks.
The man’s voice was as low as the sound made by a cello. It was very enticing, “Do you want it?”
Every last part of her body was screaming out in vain, and her voice was starting to crack too, “If I recall correctly, I have already rejected your proposal one month ago!”
Manfred laughed casually and continued to seduce her, “This time, it has nothing to do with any deal. We are just man and woman who is seeking something from each other.”
