After being enclosed for three days, besides a mouthful of water each day, Selina didn’t even receive any food.
On the third night, she felt that her breathing was getting harder and harder.
The door to the room finally opened, and Sharon came strutting in.
While looking at Selina’s pallid look, she couldn’t stifle her laughter, “Selina, brother-in-law told me that you wanted a divorce, but I didn’t expect that you are making a huge ruckus out of this.”
“Why are you here?” Selina gnashed her teeth while looking at her.
“You think I want to be here on my own? Dad has gotten wind of your nonsense looking for divorce. He asked me to come persuade you to forget about that.”
Oh, so she was here to convince her? “Didn’t you guys sell off the Jones Group? What’s wrong? Do you still need me who can only be your obstacle?”
“You can’t make that argument though. The family still needs a good daughter-in-law so that dad and us could live a carefree life, no?”
Selina finally confirmed that Sharon was not here to convince or persuade her. She was here so that she could amuse herself.
“If there’s nothing else, you can get lost now!” Selina didn’t want to waste energy to entertain her.
“Don’t be so rude! My dear sister!” Sharon said with a hypocritical expression, “Actually, I agree with your decision since brother-in-law and you don’t really have a real relationship. What use is there to continue being together? So, you must hold on to your decision…”
“Sharon, what nonsense are you spouting in front of your sister?” Horace’s voice sounded from somewhere behind her.
Sharon immediately shifted her expression and replaced her initially wicked and shrewd expression with a gentle and mellow one, “Brother-in-law, my sister is simply too hot-tempered. I was just trying to give her some advices!”
Horace couldn’t help letting out a sigh, “It would be great if your sister can be as understanding as you.”
Sharon stared at Horace with a loving expression, “My sister will one day learn of your kindness.”
“Yes!” Horace nodded perfunctorily, “You can go back now. I have something to say with your sister.”
Upon hearing that, Sharon shot a glare at Selina before turning around reluctantly. “Then, I will take my leave now.”
Selina took in everything and secretly snorted. Someone as shallow as Sharon would have no problem liking a trash like Horace. They were really a match made in heaven!
The door was shut again, and Horace walked over to help Selina to her feet, “Selina, do you really want to get a divorce with me?”
Selina said nothing to that. Her actions had proven everything she had wanted to say.
“Alright!” Horace paused, “I can agree to have a divorce with you. However, you know that things are not looking good in the company. Our business deal with the Far Eastern Group has not been cemented yet, but you are rushing to escape. Do you think things would turn out so easily in your favour?”
Selina gritted her teeth, “What do you want?”
Horace remained silent for a moment before answering, “I will give you a choice, and this will be your only choice. I will allow you to leave here and I will give you a job. Only when you have earned enough to cover my losses, I would finally let you go.”
“What do you mean by covering your losses? I think you need to tell me an amount.”
After going through so much, Selina was not going to be so naïve as to believe in Horace’s meaningless words anymore.
“The amount is not going to be much, just tens of millions of yuan. If you are able to successfully negotiated a few business deals, you would be able earn that much. Am I right?”
“I want you to form a contract with me!” Selina said.
“No problem!” Unexpectedly, Horace was willing to comply. He got up and moved to the study table and written down a contract. Then, he passed it to Selina.
“Take a look. Is this fine?”
Selina double-checked and saw that there was no problem. She finally signed her name there.
“When will I start work?”
“Tomorrow morning.”
