Mira
I have read about that pack in a book, the book was hiding in my father’s study, and me being a bookworm I sneak into his study and read it but I didn’t know that the once scary black heart pack in the book was real. I didn’t know that it was in reality that it was our pack that they were talking about in the book, this is the book that I read when I was a kid. The journey of the moonlight pack which is now our pack, the crystal mountain pack, went through a tough time with the black heart pack and that’s where the bright moon pack emerged when they assisted my father’s pack to save his pack though everything was destroyed and they still won.
“Did you help him…..?” I asked despite knowing the answer.
“Yes, I did, and at that time his wife was pregnant and I decided to help in exchange that the baby in his wife’s womb will be betrothed to my son,” he confessed with a hurtful smile.
“Which of your sons?” I asked with an unsteady tone.
“Derrick….” He mumbled.
“WHAT!!….” I exclaimed as I bewilderingly gaped at him. ” Then why did you go to the extent of getting me married to Nicholas knowing fully well that I am betrothed to your other son?” I hurtfully snapped at him. It hurts that he was behind my misery, how can they decide my fate just because of your political reasons? I am a human being but not a property, it still hurts that I am in this kind of situation because of their conspiracy.
“After the incident……
” Answer me!” I screamed as tears welled up my cheeks.
“Calm down, Mira….” His voice lowered as he pleaded for me to calm down but my heart felt too heavy to listen to him.
“Please, Mira, it hurts but we have to get hold of ourselves,” Heaven quietly mumbled.
“We planned that once you reach your 18th year, you should be married off to Derrick.” He confessed.
“After the incident, we won the battle, though a lot of lives were lost during the war and your father had to start from scratch to grow a new pack which wasn’t easy………
“Then he came to me when the shame was too much for him to bear, he was afraid that his pack might be taken away from him again and he doesn’t want history to repeat himself…… he came for me to marry one of his daughters to my son, Nicholas since Derrick said, went to fight the rogues and he couldn’t wait till then since some packs were conspiring to challenge him again,”
“But you could have helped without accepting the offer….. Wait! But why was I the one married to Nicholas?” I suspiciously stare at him.
“That’s it, we arranged the bride since I wanted to get my son’s wives from that noble family so I couldn’t resist the offer but the bride turns out to be you instead of your second sister…..” He muttered.
“HOW!…” I shockingly gaped at him as my lips twitched.
“I found out yesterday that the bride was you, Derrick’s betrothed but the funny part was that the moon goddess also binds you together with them,” he said.
Wiggling my head, tears rolled down my cheeks as I felt my silver blade piercing my heart. My father intentionally replaced my sister Vivian with me, he didn’t want Vivian into this marriage but he forced me into this awful marriage. I lost everything, even my dignity, because of this marriage, and my mum supported him knowing the truth and that the supposed bride wasn’t me but my second sister Vivian.
“I heard that you have always wanted to remove shame from your pack and I am glad that you did despite, through the disguised way…..” He says. I ignored what he was saying as my head was spinning to even wrap my head around what he just said.
“I am glad that I have you here rather than your sister……” he confessed.
“You are unique, strong, and humbled…. You are the best thing that happened to my household,” moving towards me. He sat down as he smoothed my back to calm my broken heart.
“I understand what you are going through, but trust me everything’s a blessing in disguise. I know that things are not perfect now but I promise you that you are going to enjoy it sooner or later…….. You deserve to be happy and knowing the truth was supposed to make you strong and weak,” rubbing my back he quietly muttered as each word broke my heart and hurt like hell.
Sneezing, I mumbled, “Did Luna have any idea about this whole thing?”
“Yes, I told her yesterday night and decided to tell you today but never interested in bringing my coffee,” he uttered.
“I need to leave…….” Snapping my eyes open, I muttered.
“Are you sure that you are okay?” He asked with concern.
Nodding my head, I mumbled, “Yes, and thanks for letting me know the truth…..”
“That’s my pleasure but know that please I want to give my son’s time and more chances to prove themselves to you,” he pleaded. I gave him a small forced uke before exiting the room. It wasn’t his fault even if he didn’t make the silly request that my father was still going to sell me off to them in exchange for power and respect. Is that all that I deserve? Am I truly his daughter? Has he ever loved me?
Is that all that I am worth to him? A mere exchange for power, my heart aches as I rush into my room to take my backpack and walk the hell out of this place. I don’t think that I can keep the promise or fulfill his wish of me giving his sons time to prove themselves to me, giving them another time means me going early to my grave. Since I was small I have done everything to make my family happy, especially my father. I took the responsibility and courage of saving my pack and restoring our dignity because I noticed that the stigma was weighing my father down not that I knew how to do it but because his happiness matters to me. I so much love reading books and during new research but I joined the warriors to make sure that I fulfill my wish to restore our pack’s pride and dignity. My heart twisted as tears flowed down my face, squatting beside my bed I let out a bitter cry. I weep and scream for being in this misery, enduring and acting all strong but now I have to leave.
Walking into my wardrobe, I took my bag and glanced around my room for a few minutes. This room has done nothing good to me, it only reminds me of awful and harmful memories apart from the ones that I share with Angel and Virginia, smiling bitterly as I strode towards the door. I opened the door, closing the door. I sneakily started walking in the quiet hallway to avoid being noticed by anyone.
“That’s her!…..” I suddenly hast at my track, I know that voice it is Nengi but what is she doing here. Still having my back on them, I decided to ignore them and continued my walk.
“Arrest her right now!” She commands, and my heart throbs at her words.
“What the fuck…….!” I surprisingly muttered wiry confusion all over my face. Turning around I noticed her and with seven of the warriors as two of the warriors strived towards me, Nengi’s eyes looked cold as they mockingly stared at me.
“This can’t be good……..
