As soon as Reginald left, Josephine collapsed onto the ground. Aaron held her into his arms. She felt that her heart was being torn apart, as it hurt so much. But she didn’t know why.
Aaron was thoughtful to wipe the cold sweat on her forehead. Then, he hugged her into the house, and put her down on a large antique sandalwood bed. With his chin resting against her forehead, he said softly, “We’ll go to Breton City once you officially inherit this old house. Don’t worry. I won’t let him find you. As soon as I closed my deal in Breton City, we’ll go back to London and I’ll protect you forever.”
Josephine’s body was cold. She was dumbfounded, “Why do you know him?”
He had called him Mr. Reginald, and it almost blurted out. It was obvious that he had known him for a long time, but Reginald didn’t seem to know Aaron.
Aaron’s body stiffened slightly, and his eyes got a bit dim, but he quickly resumed his posture. He replied with a smile, “The Barnes Group is well-known all over the world, and Reginald, who has created many business miracles, is a regular on the Forbes celebrity list. It’s hard not to recognize such a character at a glance.”
Josephine pursed her lips. His words sounded plausible. Then, she jerked her head up to look at Aaron as if something had just occurred to her, “So…”
“Yes, I knew it from the beginning. It was Reginald who hurt you so deeply that you fled to London, leaving everything behind. But I didn’t realize how deeply until I have seen it today. You have made the right decision.”
But even so, she never stopped thinking about him in past three years. And just a meeting by chance, she was badly hurt, even though she refused to admit it.
Josephine looked at him worriedly, her eyebrows knitted together. “That man is callous and cruel. If he wants to do something to your company, we are no match for him.”
“Eily.”
Aaron held her even harder and his voice was firm, “I meant it when I said I’d marry you in London. It isn’t a rash decision. Now he has found you, he won’t let you off easily. If I am your husband, he won’t have the excuse to track you down. I’ll protect you and Myra for the rest of my life as long as you allow me.”
Josephine widened her soured eyes, “Aaron, please don’t.”
His tenderness was too much for her. She had been avoiding him for three years. His sudden promise made her overwhelmed. Besides, Reginald had just shown up today.
Aaron heard her words, and his brows furrowed. Then a gentle smile appeared on his face again, as he comforted Josephine, “I’ve been waiting for you for three years and I won’t mind keeping waiting for you. I won’t force you if you don’t think it’s the right time.”
Only then did Josephine let out a sigh of relief and gave him a grateful look, “Thank you.”
“Call Daisy and Myra here. We’ll pack up and leave for Breton City tomorrow.”
“Good.”
But before they stepped out of the room, Daisy rushed over and looked at them in panic, “Mrs. Josephine, Mr. Aaron. I’m sorry but… Miss Myra is missing!”
At the same time, the sports car braked sharply on the road, followed by a row of expensive cars of the same series. Regan, who had sped up his car many times to follow Reginald, braked hard as well and nearly bump into the rear of the car in front.
Reginald stared at the road in front of him. His face was grave, the veins popping out from his forehead.
“Bitch! Bastard! Ungrateful!”
Reginald punched on the steering wheel. Damn Josephine, how dare she get engaged to another man behind his back, and claimed to not know him!
She had balls now!
Lochlan in the back seat felt worried when he saw his exasperate father. He was about to say something but Regan came up from behind, “Mr. Reginald, shall I send someone to bring Mrs. Josephine back?”
Reginald gave him a fierce kick and glared at him, ”What?”
I can get any woman if I want. Why her? Get out!
We’ll go back to Breton City, and make the arrangement right now. If you dare mention one more word about that woman, I’ll kill you!”
Regan saw it clearly that Reginald was angry at being rejected by Josephine. He didn’t dare to add further comment but immediately arranged for the fleet to head to the airport.
On arriving at the airport, Reginald kicked the door open. He stepped out of the car and walked in front. Regan carried Lochlan out of the back seat and was about to close the door. But a little ponytail head got out under the seat. With two big watery eyes looking at Reginald at her side, she sweetly called out, “Brother, Myra wants to go hand in hand.”
Regan got petrified at once. His eyes widened as he stammered, “Miss, Miss Myra?”
