Chapter 44 Favoring the Eldest

Book:The Love of the CEO Published:2024-5-1

The old man on the bed looked about eighty years old. His white hair was thin and his body was skinny. If it weren’t for his anger-filled expression, he looked like a kind person.
So this man was Paul! Although hospitalized, he was still the head of the Davies Family.
Oddly enough, the second Paul saw someone come, his tight face that filled with anger suddenly loosened. He rolled his eyes and said, “So, you’re here, brat.”
“Grandpa, don’t be angry; if you get angry and can’t run the family, none of us juniors will be able to take your place.” Brian changed his cold, arrogant personality, and his tone softened a lot. He seemed like a bright, sunny boy filled with warmth.
“Hmph!” The old man snorted coldly, and his loose face immediately tightened, “Everyone is wishing for something to happen to me, so that I can quickly step down from the family throne.”
“Let’s see who dares!” Brian’s boasted in reply.
He looked around at the people standing in the room. Everyone was present, except for the heads of each household. Why?
The old man seemed to read his thought and said, “I don’t allow those ungrateful sons to visit. Even though I was in the hospital, they held a family banquet yesterday. Unruly, all of them, and none of them respects me anymore.”
“Father, how could you say that?”
“Oh, come on… we wouldn’t dare, father.”
Suddenly, all the women in the room began to chime out in disagreement.
Brian smiled; the old man has become so fussy now. But he opened his mouth and said, “Exactly, I said that we shouldn’t have held it.”
The old man didn’t seem to believe him; he stared and said with a smirk, “Did you attend?”
“No! Of course not!”
“That’s more like it.” Paul looked like an spoiled boy with a temper.
“Neither did our Josh Davies attend.”
A woman who stood on the side said; she was the wife of the second household, Raya Gibson.
Paul said, “Didn’t he return to China by now; why didn’t he go?”
Raya took a step forward, wearing a beige wool coat and filled with an air of nobility. Even though she was aged, her skin was still pale and beautiful, and she took good care of yourself.
Her tone was quite proud, as she spoke triumphantly.
“Father, did you forget? Josh has been traveling abroad for work quite some time now.”
“Oh, so what you’re saying is, had I arranged a family banquet, he would have come rushing back to attend, just to have a meal.” A shrill woman’s voice came from the crowd, which rang through the ears of everyone present.
Caught off guard, Raya was speechless for a while.
The woman with the piercing voice was just a few years younger than her, but she dressed quite fashionably. Her big wavy hair reached down to her shoulders, dressed in a red embroidered Chinese cheongsam, with a rabbit fur scarf on her shoulders, and a red agate necklace around her neck. She looked quite noble and elegant.
She was Elena Davies, the eldest daughter of the Davies family.
She stepped forward and smiled at Paul.
“I say, Dad, for a man your age, you still don’t know how to control your temper. Didn’t the doctor tell you? You must control your temper and don’t get angry!”
As she spoke, Elena’s shrewd, sharp eyes swept across the room, her words filled with double meanings.
“You must be careful, don’t let those deliberately trying to anger you have their way.”
As soon as she said this, the expressions of everyone in the room turned.
Raya was even more shocked.
Elena had always been famous for her sharp tongue. She immediately dissected Raya’s words, and hinted different meanings to what Raya said. Raya was shocked.
Raya hurriedly stepped forward and explained, “Father, this is a complete misunderstanding. She’s just joking around. If our house heard that I tried to disrespect you, I will definitely be taken care of when I return.”
“Too noisy!” Paul suddenly waved his hand with a very angry expression on his face. His eyebrows wrinkled tightly together, “Get out of here if you’re going to be noisy.”
The old man became angry, and everyone in the room shut their mouths obediently.
“Boy, which car did you drive here in?” Paul asked Brian.
Brian’s eyebrows suddenly shot up, “The ‘Voltron’, of course!”
Brian’s off-road vehicle was especially customized by Land Rover, and it’s the only one. Paul knew many old comrades in the Ministry of National Defense, and he personally appointed people to refit the off-road vehicle, which made every corner of the car unique, inside and out.
The car was just like its owner: Proud, arrogant, and domineering, the only one of its kind!
“It’s just that the rhino leather inside is wearing out. Grandpa, you have to get better soon. I’m still waiting for you to take me to hunt and redecorate my ride.”
When Paul sent the “Voltron” to Brian, the old man waited triumphantly for his grandson to praise him nonstop.
Unfortunately, he singled out a problem. The seat cushion was too bland compared to this wild and domineering off-road vehicle.
The old man’s competitive spirit immediately arose in him, and on that same day, he took his grandson on a private jet to catch a rhino in the forest.
Therefore, the seat cushions in Brian’s car were all handmade from the skin of rhinoceros.
The addition made this amazing off-road vehicle is even grander. Some people estimated that it was worth at least 100 million.
Everyone in the Davies family were envious, since Paul played favoritism on his grandson Brian and on him alone.
“You little rascal, you dare instruct your grandpa now.” Paul’s eyes shone brightly, and the words he blurted out were in a tone full of love.
“If it weren’t for grandpa, the ‘Voltron’ would be nothing!”
“Why? Without the ‘Voltron’, you won’t drive anything else?”
“IF it was a tank, I suppose I’d drive it occassionally. We should install two sniper rifles, then a radar or something. It should have some wings too, so we could fly off to wherever we want to, and no one would be able to stop us!” Brian and his grandpa talked nonstop about the car.
“… Hahaha… well, well. I like that.” Paul was amused and laughed.
“Alright, grandpa, then it’s a deal. You have to get well and listen to the doctors and nurses. You must take your meds on time, and don’t always use your temper to frighten the young nurses. When you get discharged from the hospital, I’ll drive that beast to pick you up.”
Paul rejoiced, and immediately promised, “Alright, boy, when I get discharged from the hospital, you will drive that car to pick me up!”
