Chapter 43 Shattered the Youthful Phobia

Book:The Love of the CEO Published:2024-5-1

It was normal for boys to fight and get into trouble.
The beautiful woman pulled him aside and gave him an earful. That night when father came back, the elegant lady didn’t forget and complained to father which earned him another round of lecture.
That beautiful and elegant lady was his mother, Diana Harvey.
He was used to that as it happened very often.
That was why it left doubt in his mind and he had always wondered if he was their biological son. When he grew up, he even investigated on his own but there wasn’t a trace of it.
In his daze, someone came from inside and walked to him and softly said to him.
“Sir.”
“Yes.” Ralph rapidly came to his senses and composed himself to his usual stern and cold self. “How’s the situation with Madam?”
“Madam is out of the woods. The doctor checked carefully and it was most likely when she went out, she caught a chill and didn’t feel well resulting in a fever. She has taken some medicine and should be better tomorrow.”
“Okay.” Ralph nodded. His worried look gradually eased. “Listen, what happened tonight must not be mentioned to anyone. Not a word! Understand?!”
“Yes Sir, I understand.”
Ralph continued to stand outside the door for a while and didn’t enter. He turned and walked back to his residence.
The night was dark and laden.
The starry night couldn’t light up the dark residence, it appeared to be swallowed by the shadows.
Abby brought her eldest child to Jones’ traditional home.
Her eyes lit up when she saw the familiar surroundings and her vision started to be clouded.
“Mom, are you tired? I’ll help you with the luggage.” Ethan got down the car and wanted to help Abby with the luggage.
The kid said as he grabbed the luggage with both of his hands. He frowned and struggled with the grunts like he was drinking milk, but the luggage didn’t budge.
Abby laughed and looked down, “Silly kid, you are still too small, once you’re bigger you can help out with the physical work, okay?”
As she said, the servants of the household ran out and Tina was behind them.
“Miss, you’re finally back.”
The servant who carried the luggage was known as Renee to everyone in the Jones’ household. Abby was practically brought up by Renee and it was natural that their relationship was very close.
“Renee.” Abby addressed her like shew as still that innocent and naive little girl.
“Miss.” Renee was overjoyed and tears of joy flowed. She then turned and looked at Ethan, “Wow, this must be little master?”
“Son, call Auntie Renee.”
“Auntie Renee, how do you do?” Ethan said cutely.
“Oh oh oh! Haha ha… great, that’s great. Miss, little master, let’s go into the house. Madam already informed me that you’ll be home and I couldn’t sleep the entire night. As soon as I got out of bed, I’ve been making all your favorite snacks.”
Renee said enthusiastically and at this moment, Tina came out.
“Abby, Ethan, let’s go in the house.”
Renee took the luggage from Abby and walked into the house without saying anything else.
She pushed the familiar door and Abby was surprised to see that though no one had stayed in her room for years, it was clean as before. There wasn’t a speck of dust nor any strange odor.
Renee brought in the luggage and thoughtfully asked, “Miss, please sit down and rest. I’ll get some tea for you.”
Abby knew that all these were done by Renee. She wanted to say something but Renee moved hurriedly towards the pantry.
They didn’t see each other for five years and Renee has changed significantly.
After a short while, Renee was back with a cup of tea and served it to Abby and said, “Miss, ever since you left the home, I’ve been practically cleaning this room daily. I believe that one day you’ll be back. That’s why everything in this room is in its original position and exactly the same as the day you left.”
Abby heard and looked around the room.
Every item, every furniture’s position like the table, the chair, were as they were five years ago. If it wasn’t for her personal experiences, she’d wonder if she had time-traveled to the past.
“Renee, thanks for everything!” Abby couldn’t think of anything else to say.
Renee laughed as she held onto her hands tightly, “Ha! Miss, these are my duties. What’s there to thank for?” Her expression had a trace of despair and her eyes welled up with tears. Perhaps she reminisced fondly of the past.
“Before Madam passed away, she kept telling me to take good care of you and treat you like your own daughter. But, I feel… I feel that I’ve let Madam down…”
She lowered her head and tears started to flow.
Abby couldn’t help but ache for the mother that she had never met. Her head and heart raced.
A series of crisp footsteps can be heard from the corridor.
Renee quickly wiped her face and composed herself and looked at Abby.
“Abby, look around, is there anything that you want to add?”
Tina came, opened the door, and entered Abby’s room.
“No need, everything as they were. There is nothing more that I need.” Abby also composed herself and recovered her usual expression.
The mood of the room changed immediately when Tina came into the room. Renee kept quiet awkwardly.
It appeared that Tina observed something and her eyes kept looking towards Renee.
“Madam, Miss, you two catch up. I’ll go to the kitchen to prepare for dinner.” Renee stood up and bowed respectfully at Tina, nodded at Abby, and left the room.
Tina calmly acknowledged and walked towards Abby’s side, pulled a chair over, and sat down.
“Abby, what’s wrong with Renee? She looked troubled.”
Abby’s eyes were watery, “It must be that she’s happy that I’m back and became emotional.”
Tina didn’t want to make things difficult, pursed her lips, and said, “Emotional? She’s just a servant here, why is she so worked up when you came back?”
