Unconsciously, it had already passed the specified time to leave work.
Abby was called away by their president Brian, so nobody dared to ask her if she had done anything other than work during working hours.
She sorted out her mind, while blaming on herself that she had confided the most private secret to her boss.
And when Brian offered to drive her back, she refused him politely.
So Brian didn’t insist. He just sat in his car and gazed after her figure receding in the crowded street.
Abby didn’t dare to look back until she got on the bus back home.
At this time, she started to feel regret, and even remorse.
She felt vaguely that Brian was trying to draw the secret out of her. It was obvious that he knew she was full of thoughts, but he offered her mellow red wine, making her revealed her secret in the unguarded state.
Somehow, a hint of uneasiness arose in her heart, with a faint disappointment.
Abby shook her head in order to make her mind more clear and sensible and get rid of the whimsical thinking.
She fell asleep unconsciously against the bright and clean window. When she woke up, the car had parked near their house. Then she got back to the luxurious villa of Elaine, and saw little Ethan squatting in the garden corridor.
Although it was dark, it looked like a splendid castle, as all lights were on in the garden of the villa.
“Ethan.”
“Mom…” When the little guy heard her voice, he lifted his head and ran to Abby with excitement on his face.
Abby squatted down and gave a hug to Ethan.
She was affectionately stroking Ethan’s hair.
“Baby, have you had dinner? Sorry, I am late.” She apologized with concern.
“Yes, I have. It doesn’t matter. I know you are busy working. Today is Friday. You must work overtime.” Ethan’s words sounded like an adult as usual. Abby felt moved, though she was no longer surprised at his maturity.
“Mom, are you tired?”
Abby kissed Ethan on his face. Her eyes were filled with happiness.
“No, I’m not.”
For the sake of Ethan, I would never feel tired.
They walked inside hand in hand.
“Where was Elaine? Shall we go to visit her?”
The little guy shook Abby’s hand, saying mysteriously, “Mom, Elaine was in a bad mood. She had a quarrel with somebody.”
“With whom?” Was Nelson back?
Ethan frowned, “I don’t know who he is. He was a very handsome uncle. They quarreled in the afternoon. Then the handsome uncle went out, and didn’t come back till now.”
It seemed that Nelson had come back.
When they walked to the door, they saw two strong beams of light outside, which were particularly dazzling in the dark night. Then, the electronic gate of the villa slowly opened.
Staring at the gate, Abby saw a luxury car slowly turning into the yard, and was parked aside.
A young handsome man who had both nice shape and temperament got off from the car.
Ethan became excited again. He shook Abby’s hand a few times and said, “Mom, he is the handsome uncle.”
Abby secretly motioned Ethan to stop talking.
After a while, Nelson walked to them.
The light of the porch spaced out softly. Abby saw a man who was as handsome as someone came from a hand painting.
“Who are you?” The man stopped in front of them with a slight frown.
When Abby was about to speak, Ethan had stepped forward, stretched out his arms so as to protect his mom. He raised his head and said, “She is my mom.”
Nelson had met Ethan. When he just got back home in the afternoon, he was already shocked by the amazing intelligence of this little guy. Although he wasn’t in a good mood because of the conflict between him and Elaine, he had an indescribable feeling when he saw Ethan.
Nelson smiled. He petted Ethan’s head. The sexy corner of his mouth curved up affectionately.
“Young as you are, you’ve already known that you should try hard to protect your mother. Keep the quality when you grow up. Don’t forget your mom when having a girlfriend.”
Although Ethan was just a little boy and unable to understand the meaning of adults’ words sometimes, he still caught the mockery hidden in Nelson’s words. He clenched his small fists, frowning with his black eyebrows.
“I know! I don’t need you to teach me!”
Abby hasted to pull Ethan over and rebuked him in a low voice, “Ethan, be polite.”
Facing the provoking of the little guy, Nelson didn’t become angry, on the contrary, he felt that his mood had turned better. He couldn’t help squatting down, trying to make his height equal with standing Ethan.
“Little guy, you are right. Give you my admiration.”
“Thanks.” Ethan said triumphantly, raising his head.
Abby only felt very embarrassed. She apologized, “Mr. Thomas, please accept my apology. Children always speak rashly without any hesitation. I hope you don’t mind.”
“Never mind.” Nelson’s voice was soft. It seemed that he was tired. He stood up and glanced at Abby.
When they made eye contact, Nelson stopped himself from greeting at once.
The girl in front of him was very pretty, which was believed to be the idea of everyone who saw her. However, for no reason, Nelson felt that the fresh beautiful face gave him a very unusual feeling.
It was kind of familiar, but it was strange, too. If he had seen her before, Nelson couldn’t remember the time when he saw her. If they had never known each other, why did she give him a sense of inexpressible familiarity?
Abby was a little bit nervous when Nelson was staring at her, just like all the secrets of her mind had been seen through.
“Hello, Mr. Thomas. My name is Abby Jones. I’m a friend of Elaine.” Abby said, taking Ethan’s hand, and left a sentence in a hurry, “We don’t want to disturb you. We should go back to the room.” Then she quickly returned to their room with Ethan.
Back in the room, Abby began to prepare for Ethan’s bath.
The little boy’s chubby body comfortably soaked in moderate water of the big pool. He applied his body with foam on his hands. Ethan had long learned to clean himself up. He was already better than his peers.
