Chapter 32 Stick like a Limpet

Book:The Love of the CEO Published:2024-5-1

Abby had a solid professional foundation, dealing with such a large conference, it was completely effortless. She was also glad that she had made no more mistakes.
The only thing that made her uncomfortable… probably was the man’s eyes.
His gaze was attentive, with a burning heat.
But when she glanced at him, a little bit consciously, she felt that there was no unusual emotion in his eyes. The man reflected in her eyes, was the one with perfect face and aloof expression as usual. He’s unlikely to pay attention to her.
‘Is it really just delusion?’
After the meeting, Abby returned to her seat to sort out the papers. Brian left first and the other staff members also left one after another.
Only when she looked up did she find herself alone in the huge conference hall.
The large space could make people feel empty and lonely.
For some reason, she became uneasy at that moment, with some fluster. Maybe she got a little tired. Stepping on the threshold of working, it was normal that she hadn’t adapted to the new environment.
She leaned her palm against his brow and walked to the door.
The dark red door seemed to be solemn when people looked at it. Abby put her fragile small hand on the handle, gently pulling open the door.
Outside the door was the glorious sunshine. It was around 5 o’clock in the evening, and the rose-violet sky was really amazing.
All of a sudden, a tall dark shadow suddenly blocked the sunshine.
Without waiting for her reaction, Ivan pushed open the door, and closed it firmly. He blocked his own body at the door, a pair of eyes burning with anger.
‘What are you doing?
Abby smelt a rat.
There was something wrong with this man!
Ivan smiled coldly and clasped her delicate wrist.
Abby was completely off-guard, the documents in her hands scattered on the ground.
However, before she could stand firm, Ivan pulled her behind the door just with a small amount of his strength, imprisoning her with his own body.
The narrow corner was getting tighter and tighter because of the man’s approaching.
She felt extremely ashamed. Clenching her teeth and slightly raising her thin leg, she was about to kick the man on his shin.
Ivan showed a disdainful smile. While she was lifting her leg, he squeezed his leg between her thighs.
“You…” Glaring and gnashing her teeth, she cursed him, “How shameless!”
His big hand passed through her nape and her back was clasped around by his wrists. He forced her into his arms and pressed her chest tightly against his own.
“How can I compare to you on being shameless? You dare flirted with Brian openly during the meeting.”
“Nonsense!” Abby only felt that she was out of breath in his overruled strapping.
“I know everything, Abby. Stop acting in front of me! All of your bitchy behaviors couldn’t escape from my eyes.”
There was an air of condemnation in the man’s gloomy words, making Abby angry to shake all over.
“Have you forgotten what I have told you five years ago? Abby, you are the most mean woman I have ever seen!”
Ivan exploded with his rage, trying to find the meanest, the most vicious language to attack her and hurt her. It seemed that he could regain some of his self-esteem as long as she showed a hurt expression.
But he would be disappointed this time!
‘It is nothing more that acting. Everyone could make it.’
‘Since they all could act out their bad sides so incisively, why couldn’t she do it?’
Then she slightly raised her chin and soft brows. Her big clear eyes were twinkling with blurred luster.
“Yes, I am one of those wicked whore whose hearts have been corroded by black color. Ivan, since you know my shamelessness inside out, why do you keep pestering me all the time?”
It was obvious that such aggressive language she used was to provoke him.
The eyes of the man’s went clouded instantly.
Abby curved up her moist pink lip and taunted him again, “Do you have anything to say? Did I debunk what you were thinking? If you find who you prefer, you could pester her, instead of me. Just go find your Luna.”
Then she pushed Ivan away with the strength of both hands, turned around and stepped out.
The man raised his eyebrows, grabbed her waist and pulled her back with all his might.
He said with his low and deep voice next to her ear, “Abby, you are intentionally setting yourself against me, aren’t you?”
Abby chuckled coldly and asked in reply, “Am I? Ivan, please make a good use of your brain, ok? Obviously, it’s you who initiated the farce these days.”
For a moment, Ivan was silent.
He slowly let go of her, but the pair of eyes, hiding strange emotions, still remain motionless on her face which was pure and delicate like an angel.
“Abby, I care neither who you get along with, nor who you like. But I want you to know that Brian is definitely not someone you can touch!”
‘Why? Abby raised her eyebrows.
“You should know better than I!”
The emotion in Ivan’s eyes seemed to be more normal, finally.
Abby sneered, “Should I thank you for your kindness?”
Ivan couldn’t suppress his anger, gnashing his teeth hard, “Abby, you’d better not talk to me with this attitude. Don’t you forget what happened five years ago? It was you who betrayed me, not you whom I betrayed!”
The old story was brought up again. The scar deep inside Abby’s heart was torn again. Abby felt as if her heart had been gouged out by a knife, the pain of which made her face pale, made her almost loss her breath!
“Of course.” She clenched her teeth and didn’t allow the tears flowing from her eyes.
Abby took a deep breath and lift her eyes. The expression of her face manifested tough and unyielding verve.
“But I also know that no one had listened to my explanation after that, and no one will believe that I was forced to do so, including you!”
Ivan frowned. It was too late to start thinking when she suddenly left. The scene in front of him became empty, his heart also became empty.
However, he hadn’t yet fully understood the meaning of Abby’s words, only to hear her voice with faint astonishment.
“Mr. Davies.”
He looked up abruptly and saw the door of the left exit pushed open. The orange sunlight pierced into the whole conference hall rapidly.
