Daniel’s POV

“Why did you do that?”
“Because I don’t trust her around you. And I had an idea that she might will plan something to separate you from your mate but little did I know that my brother was the biggest fool in the whole world.”
“Nora. You shouldn’t have done that. Invading someone’s privacy is wrong.”
“I had doubt about her, so I did all this to figure out the truth and see, I was so RIGHT.”, She said in a disgusting tone. “I hate to break this, say brother, but you don’t deserve someone like Evangeline. That’s why I’m sending this recording to her.”
“Nora! Please..” Roman quickly took control over my body to handle the things on his own.
“Please! What Roman? Your human is planning to hurt your mate, and you are okay with that?”
“I know my human is an asshole, but trust me, he just said those things to Aunt Emma to deny the fact that he is not giving in to the mate bond. That’s it. No one knows him better than me, so please trust me.”
“You’re not lying, are you?”
“Your wolf can sense it if I will even try to. I’m in love with her already; in fact, my dickhead human is in love with her, but he won’t agree to it because of his big FAT EGO.”
“No,” She pulled her phone close to her chest. “I’m not giving this until I get the answer to my question why do your human hate mom? And don’t talk with us? Why…”
“Guess what?”, He cut her in between. “I’m not going to keep my mate at stake to answer your questions, so delete that recording first.”, He ordered, using his Alpha tone.
“No.” Nora still shook her head. Roman sensed that after using his alpha tone, her wolf was not trying to go against her alpha. Only the human was stubborn. He knew what he had to do next.
That was it.
Roman lost control over his anger and forcefully tried to snatch her phone from her hand.
‘Just don’t hurt, okay?’ I reminded him.
It was not that hard for him to get her phone, but during all this snatching thing, it dropped on the floor.
“Nora, I have brought breakfast for you.”, The door of Nora’s room opened, and Angel walked inside holding a tray. Roman quickly gave control to me, and I slid Nora’s phone under the bed. “Are you guys trying to patch up?”, She asked, on which neither of us said a word. I was thankful to Nora that she had kept her mouth shut.
For the first time in my life.
I was scared, and my heart was pounding loudly against my ribcage.
“I know you have punished her, but I just can’t let her stay hungry.”, She said, pointing toward the food.
Only if she knew what was troubling me.
I sighed in relief that somehow I managed to stop Nora from opening the truth in front of her, but my happiness didn’t last for long when I heard my own voice coming under the bed.

‘May I come in, Aunt?”

“Is that your voice?” Angel asked in surprise and looked around to see the source of the thing from where this recording was getting played.

‘Come in, son. Wait! Why have to bring breakfast for me? I don’t have an appetite to eat anything.”

“Did you guys record something and throw it under the bed?”, She asked, keeping the tray on the table and knelt down, keeping her both hands on the floor and leaning her head toward the floor as much as possible.

‘I’m sorry on behalf of Nora.’
‘You don’t have to.’
‘Still, she should have laughed at you.

“It’s Nora’s phone at the corner of the wall. One has to pull this bed…”, She stopped, speaking when she heard the rest of the recording.

‘Calm down, Dan. She is just a kid. But really, I didn’t think that you would give permission to let her work just like that. I mean, you don’t like that, do you?’
‘No, Aunt. But I’m just following your suggestion _______these silly things.’

“You…you were playing with me.”, She didn’t ask but stated. Nora left her room, leaving both of us alone to talk. Moon goddess! I didn’t even know what to talk about now. “The breakfast that you cooked for me, the day we spent together in the park, the promise you made, and last night…”, She didn’t complete the sentence as tears started dwelling in her eyes.
“Angel…” I walked toward her to explain everything though I had no idea how to do that, but she stepped backward, shaking her head.
“Now onwards, it’s Evangeline for you.”, Those words were enough to make me realize how unknowingly my actions had hurt her. Her eyes looked like a person in deep pain, one that lost the most precious things in her life. The one who was suffering from an unbearable amount of pain but couldn’t express it in words.
It would have been fine if she would have yelled at me or fought with me, but this expression was something that I didn’t expect.
I didn’t need any others words to understand what she was feeling even though I hadn’t marked her.
I didn’t need any scolding to realize my mistake.
Neither did I need any punishment for my mistake, as a simple sentence was enough to make me kill me. I screwed up a big time, didn’t I?
‘You are still asking this question, huh?’ Roman growled.
“I should have known.”, She chuckled sadly. “I, Evangeli…
“Angel.. please don’t.” Roman’s rough voice whimpered in pain. “Please don’t reject me. I have waited for my whole life to find you.”, He sounded so sad that my guilt doubled seeing him in pain because of me. Angel’s expression changed hearing him. She was hurting herself too by doing this. “Daniel is an idiot and a dickhead. I get it, but he never played with you and your feelings. He made breakfast that morning because he was happy that you had brought something for him even after the argument and fight. He spent time with you in the park because he wanted to be there with you when you were smiling and laughing. He meant his promise what he did to you and last night was special for us as well. Please forgive him.”
