Evangeline’s POV
.
“Princess!”, His eyes widened in horror.
“I’m having a hard time in control of my thirst. That’s why I want to know how to deal with it. I want to know the reason behind how and why I’m like this.”, I said, closing my mouth, trying to handle my anger because, at that moment, I wanted to do nothing at that time but drink his blood. “So, better tell me about mom and her pack before I drink all your blood in anger.”, I hissed.
My threat brought him back from his shock or horror state, and he blinked twice before speaking.
“But you won’t kill me, right?”
“Obviously not! Do you think I’m a killer?”
“I’m sorry.”, He apologized. “I should never have asked that question in the first place.” He muttered, shaking his head. “I can’t understand what you are going through, but I think I can give a piece of information which will lead you in the right direction.”, he said, on which my eyes brightened.
“What’s it?” I tried to control my excitement, but somehow it appeared in my tone.
“Your powers and identity have nothing to do with your mom’s family bloodline.”, he said, on which I listened to him carefully. Did he mean to say it was related to my father’s bloodline? Of course, it could be.
Why didn’t I think in this way?
“It is from your father’s family’s bloodline.”
Finally! I should have considered this as an option as well.
“So, who is like me in your family?” I asked because I was sure that he wasn’t like me.
“When I mentioned about your father’s bloodline, Princess. I didn’t mean to say that my family’s bloodline.”, He said, and I felt like I had forgotten to breathe.
Did he mean that my father’s bloodline is not his family’s bloodline?
But how was that possible?
Or could be possible only when….
I looked at him, searching for any sick joke, but his expression was screaming that he was serious about it.
“You’re lying, right?” I asked, even though I knew he wasn’t.
“No.”
Tears started dwelling in my ears, realizing that my life was nothing but a lie. I thought I was a human, just like my mother, but neither was human. I hated all my father for what he did to my mother, and now that he wasn’t my father?
Now, did I have the right to hate him when my mother cheated on him or something?
I saw him approaching him, and neither did I know that I was crying until he wiped my tears.
“This’s why I was not telling you the hide the truth which I knew. I wasn’t a good husband for your mother, Princess, but both your mother and I knew I could never love her like my fated mate. And you still have all right to stay mad at me just like you used to be. But Moon Goddess, I always loved you no less than Aleena and will always love you like my own.” I sobbed more hearing that.
He sat beside me, holding my hands, “I know you may be thinking now that if I’m not your father, then who’ your real father! Tell, I have no idea about that part.”, he confessed. “Neither your mother ever told me about him, nor did I try to pry in her past.”
“Her past?” I questioned.
“We were forced into a marriage. But at the same time, things were a little more complicated from her side.”, He said, on which he furrowed my eyebrow. “Her family was disowning her by doing this marriage because she…kind of has an affair with someone, which I now suppose was her mate.”
“Oh!”
“But your mother’s lover was an enemy; that’s why your grandparents killed him first, and then they made your mother force him to marry me. And now, observing your vampire’s fang, I can guess how come your mother’s lover was an enemy to werewolves.”, He said, on which I gasped loudly. What could be worst than this!
My mom had to suffer so much!
That could be the reason why her wolf died.
“But.. but mom had written in her diary that her mate was killed in a rogue attack.”, I pointed out.
“Well, I can’t say that whether your mother’s mate and your father are the same people because after reading your mother’s diary, I think that she has hidden a lot of things not just from you but from me as well.”, He responded. Just like me, even he was clueless about a few of the things. “So, where was I? Unn.. yes! After our marriage, we find out about your existence.”
Thank god that mom didn’t cheat on him.
Still, I was mad at her for hiding all this from me. She knew, she always knew that I would be like this.
I would be like her mate or her lover.
Well, if you were thinking how I could be that sure, then going back to the diary, she had clearly written that ‘I always knew that you can’t stay away from your destiny and I hate to tell you that your destiny belongs here, between the werewolves.’
‘You are a very special child, Eva. That’s the reason I kept you away from the packs and the werewolves when you were a kid, and one incident made you hate them, which worked to my benefit for that period but now I want to clear this.’
“Why didn’t you ever tell me that I’m not your daughter?”
“Even I didn’t want to. In fact, I would never have shared about it. Because I was scared that you already hated me and in case you will come to know about that truth that I was not your real father, then you would have broken all the ties with me.”, He responded, and I kept looking at that person as if he had grown a horn in his head.
‘Who does that?’
‘Handling the anger of a daughter who was not even his?’
“Until now, we were not on the talking terms still; you silently cared about me. You were angry with me because you had every right to be angry with me, and I didn’t want to take that right from you. Not now. Not in the future.”
Tears rolled down my eyes, and he wiped them with his thumb. Now I realized why mom badly wanted me to forgive him!
He wasn’t a bad person.
Just the circumstance and situation made him bad in my eyes.
“I should be leaving for work.”, I muttered, checking the time.
“You okay?”
Was I? I didn’t know there were so many things in my mind. I was trying to wrap everything in my mind because whatever he said was too much to take for my small mind.
“I will be.”, Saying this, I pulled my hand from his and leaned toward his table to take my mom’s diary, which he had kept there after reading it. “Thank you for your time.”, With this, I walked toward the door.
“Princess?”, He called me from my back.
Damn it!
His ‘Princess’ word was making me feel guilty NOW.
I turned around to face him again, “Hmm.”
“Nothing has changed from my end, and I’m hoping the same from your end.”, He said, and tears rolled down my eyes again.
I wanted to run into his arms and hug him tight, but I couldn’t. It had been more than eighteen and nineteen years since our relationship had been like this. It just couldn’t change in one day.
“Something has definitely changed.”, I said, wiping my eyes. His love for me had overpowered my anger for him. He panicked, hearing my words. That’s why I thought to give him little clarity about my sentences. “But in a good way.”
“You mean…”, He didn’t complete the sentence, nor did I.
“Bye, d.. dad. I’m getting late.”, Saying this, I opened the door of his office and walked out. I didn’t get the answer to the question I was looking for. Instead, I came to know about something else.
Something which I wasn’t expecting.
That was why I would have to come here again. If everything was started from Mom’s pack, then I would have to know from which pack she belonged.
Now I also had to find out that who was my REAL father? Was he mom’s mate or lover?
.
Third Person’s POV
.
“Evangeline is often visiting his father’s pack, which is not normal.”, Silas informed.
“I knew this was coming when the spell on her vampire’s powers broke on the day of her wedding.”, Orpheus said, recalling how he was silently watching his daughter’s wedding without anyone’s knowledge. He also followed her when she was sneaking out of the window to make sure that she wouldn’t fall in any danger, but then he saw her shifting. He immediately realized that this shifting had broken the spell which was done on her to hide and control her vampire powers.
But her wolf couldn’t sense his presence after all; he was her father because his vampire’s power was to cloak anyone’s scent, but he was surprised to see that her wolf had the power to hide herself. He wasn’t sure how much his powers were in his daughter.
“Silas, you’re the only vampire who can walk in the sun because that’s your power, and I have masked your scent, so make sure that you will stay by her side during daytime among humans. Because Eva is a newly shifted vampire, which means a walking killing machine, in case she would lose her mind, then she would end up….”
“Don’t worry about that, Master. I will never let that happen. After all, I’m created to serve her.”, Silas said. “Master, in case she…” he started but didn’t complete the sentence, but Orpheus knew what he wanted to ask in case she figured out who he was and questioned anything related to Orpheus then!
“Leave, Silas. I have to talk with father.” Vincent, my first son, whom Orpheus had transformed into a vampire, hundreds of years back, entered Orpheus’s room, and hearing him, Silas left from there.
“What’s it?” I asked.
“I was thinking of bringing Eva here in Coven. Now that her powers are activated then..”
“You want to bring your sister into this darkness?” Orpheus asked so that he could realize what he was actually speaking. “Even after knowing that she has already found her mate.”
“Do you really think that her mate will accept her after knowing what she is? Did you forget that your mate rejected you because you were half-vampire? Or did you forget that the werewolf family of that human whom you loved had almost killed you, and to save your life, your Lycan had to sacrifice his life?” Vincent asked.
Orpheus closed his growing anger toward the werewolves who had never done well to him. But then, he couldn’t decide anything about his daughter’s fate based on his experience.
“You can bring her in case Eva’s mate turns out to be a jerk, but until then, don’t interfere in her life. And I’m warning you about her.”
“But we can meet her, right? You had said that we could meet her if her powers would get activated.”, Vincent asked.
“We?”
“Who, who, exactly?” Orpheus asked, eyeing his suspiciously. Immediately hundred of vampires or more entered his room.
Orpheus’s eyes widened, seeing all most everyone here while others were standing out of his room.
They got to be kidding him.
