Daniel’s POV

I was literally off guarded when Angel mentioned her ‘WORK’ fact again.
The cherry on the top, she even reminded me that we had discussed it in the car.
Well, did I have any other option than agreeing to her? Because in the end, she would do what she had already decided.
“Daniel, you don’t have any problem with her working outside the pack? Between the human?” Aunt Emma asked during breakfast.
“Well, I can’t expect her to change in just one day. After all, she’s a human, not a chameleon.”, I said, repeating Angel’s words.
Immediately table shook a little; I looked at the person behind it. She had kept both her hands on her mouth and tried her best to calm down but failed miserably; soon, she started laughing as if I had cracked some joke.
“Noraaa,” That woman scolded her, on which she tried to calm down but again started laughing again.
“I’m sorry, but I can’t help it.”, She said, between her laugh. “I’m sure these are sister-in-law’s words.” and all of a sudden, Aunt left the breakfast table. I couldn’t help myself from growling at Nora.
“Go to your room and keep laughing throughout the day because you’re not any food today.”
“But..”
“Leave!” I roared. Tears started dwelling in her eyes; she looked toward that woman and the father when she realized that no one was going to go against her before she ran away from there. I shook my head, and then, taking Aunt’s breakfast plate, I walked toward Aunt’s room. I saw her sitting on the bed.
“May I come in, Aunt?”
“Come in, son.”, She said, and then her eyes landed on the plate which was in my hand. “Wait! Why have to bring breakfast for me? I don’t have an appetite to eat anything.”
“I’m sorry on behalf of Nora.”
“You don’t have to.”
“Still, she should have laughed at you.”, I fumed in anger again, recalling her behavior. That was not at all acceptable.
“Calm down, Dan. She is just a kid. But really, I didn’t think that you would give permission to let her work just like that. I mean, you don’t like that, do you?”
“No, Aunt. But I’m just following your suggestion. Didn’t you suggest yesterday that not all war can be won by violence; sometimes, loves helps as well. And when she will be madly in love with me, then after marking her, I can control her just in the way I want. Also, you told me that I can’t expect someone else to do something for me until and unless I do the same for others. So, the least I can do is ACT for a while. And not to forget, everything is fair in love and war.” I started recalling her lines.
“So, everything you’re doing is part of your plan? Not the effect of the mate bond?”, She asked, eyeing me suspiciously.
“Of course not! It’s not the effect of the mate bond.”, I said, but deep down, I was in doubt of my own words. Because, to be frank, I wasn’t planning anything; everything was just happening on its own. “Now, please have your breakfast.”
“I’m really not hungrily, Dan.”, She said, pushing away the plate.
“Fine then! I’m keeping the plate over here in case you change your mind.” I smiled, keeping the plate on the desk beside her bed.
When I walked out, I found dad had completed his breakfast.
“Dan, wait a minute!”, He said, stopping me before I could have made my way toward my office. I waited for a while, and soon he joined me on the way to my office. “I need to talk with you about Eva’s job.”
“Not again, Dad.”, This topic was literally getting on my nerves. The more I wanted to avoid it; the more everyone was picking this topic.
“At least hear me out. I’m not asking you to stop her from working. Because I believe along with time even we need to update our family rules.”, He said, widening my eyes.
Okay! I didn’t expect that.
“I don’t even remember who had made all these rules in our family. Maybe my grandfather or my great grandfather, or maybe someone else. What matters in our life the most is our mates, and nothing will go wrong if we let them try to have their freedom. Now, if you will start comparing Eva’s life with all women in our family, then there is a vast difference between them. Eva is like an eagle who has learned to fly high in the sky, while Nora, your mom, and your Aunt are like a parrot. They do and speak only what they have been taught all their lives.”
“And what if that eagle will fly away, leaving me alone?” I asked though I didn’t mention Angel’s name, but I was clearly indicating about her.
“Trust. Trust is very important in any relationship. I haven’t commented anything on your relationship, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t observed that you’re pole apart. But be patient young man, when it seems things are not going right and may never be right again. Accept that what is yours will come to you in the right way at just the right moment.”
“Easy for you to say.”, I muttered. “After all, your mate is not out there who will be working between a lot of men.”
“This is what I wanted to talk about.”, He said, on which I arched my eyebrow. “She is your mate and Luna of this pack, so staying away from the pack and the security for this long is not a great idea. So, why don’t you suggest she leave her job and train female werewolves below eighteen since they are not shifted and are still more or like humans.”
“From where all these ideas are coming from, dad?” I asked, eyeing him suspiciously. “I know whose words are these!” I hissed in anger.
“Even if these are in her words. She isn’t suggesting anything wrong here. She talked with Eva the other day, and Eva was quite upset by hearing the females are not allowed for training. So, by doing this, you can keep your mate near you as well as away from danger. The cherry on the top, she will love it if you will do something like that.”
I didn’t say anything about it. Dad patted my shoulder before speaking again. “I talked with Stephen a few minutes ago. Diana is really his mate, and they both marked and mated now. They will be coming home tonight.”, He said happily while this news added fuel to my anger. It was not that I wasn’t happy for him, but I was cursing at my fate.
He found out about his mate last night, and till this moment, he had already marked and mated with his mate while I had to do all these stupid things to win my luna’s heart.
Seriously?
Once he left my office, I tried to focus my mind on work but couldn’t.
I thought to call Angel, but she didn’t receive my call. I redialled her number, but I received the same response again.
‘Where are you, Angel?’
