Evangeline’s POV
.
“Why are you here again?”, My stepmother’s voice echoed in the whole house when I walked inside.
“I have to meet your husband. That’s why.”, Saying this, I walked toward his office. I knocked on his door, and after hearing ‘Come in, Princess,’ I stepped inside his office, making sure I didn’t forget to lock the door behind me because whatever I was going to talk about was something I didn’t want others to interrupt in between.
Mr. Williams or Alpha Williams raised his eyebrow when he saw me doing that but didn’t ask anything.
“Grab a seat.”, He said, showing me the chair in front of him. Once I settled, I was confused about where I should start; that’s when he spoke again, “I believe whatever you have to talk about is very important; otherwise, you won’t be here. So, go ahead.”
When I didn’t utter a word, he asked, “Did Alpha Daniel….”
“No. If your mind is going anywhere near the topic of Alpha Daniel, then you’re wrong. I’m not here because of him.” I quickly stopped him from forming any negative thoughts about my mate.
“Then?”, Concern was dripping from his every word.
“I want to know about my mom’s background. Who are or were her parents? From which pack she belonged?” I asked, and he was taken aback by my sudden question.
“I.. I can’t answer you that.”
“Why not? I want to know about my grandparents.”, I argued.
“Trust me, Princess. Your mom hid those things from you for a reason, and it will be great if you won’t dig into her past.”
“What are you hiding from me? You know something that I don’t know, isn’t it?” I asked, on which he averted his eyes instead of lying. “I know that you two were not mates. So, Do you know who was her mate or anything?” I asked.
“She had a mate?”, He asked in surprise.
It seemed like he didn’t know anything about it.
“Why didn’t she tell me about it?”, He muttered, more like he asked this question to himself. “How do you know that she had a mate?”
“I read it in her diary, but unfortunately, before I could have known more about her past, the pages of her diary are torn, and you and your mate have no idea about it.”, I pointed out. “That’s why I want to know about her past and parents and from which she belonged.”
“Don’t…don’t do that, Princess.”, he pleaded.
“Do you think that I will hear you out? If you don’t help me, I will ask for Daniel’s help. His eyes widened when I said that. Well, I wasn’t bluffing; I would take Daniel’s in finding our my mother’s past.
“I request to you, Princess. Please don’t do that. Because if you will, you’re going to invite pain in your life.”, he requested again.
Ivory could tell that he was telling me the truth.
“Then let be it. It was clear in my mind that I needed to find out the truth at any cost. I didn’t want to live my life under the darkness and in a world of nothing but lies.”
And I wasn’t going to change my mind about it. After saying this, I left the chair to leave his office when I heard his voice again.
“Why now? Princess?”, He asked on which. I turned around to look at him. “Why all of a sudden, NOW? Does something happen because you are so adamant about finding out about your mother’s past?” he asked again. “You’re hiding something from me, aren’t you?”
I laughed a little before replying, “This question is asked by someone who has been hiding something from me for years. Huh?”
“I’m doing this for you and your betterment.”, he explained. I knew he was telling the truth, but this was not what I wanted to hear.
‘Then tell him why you want to find out about your mother’s past? Tell me what you are going through.’
‘I don’t want to.’
‘Stop being stubborn, Eva! Even you know that maybe he wasn’t a great husband, but he was always a great father. He fulfilled all his responsibilities even though you hated him and didn’t want to do anything with him. You’re self-dependent now but don’t forget that you’re at this stage because of him. Instead of being grateful for the things to you, you have done nothing but insult him all your life. Do you know how hard it is for any Alpha to handle someone who disrespects them?’ Ivory asked. ‘If not, then remember the time when Daniel’s angry face whenever you disrespect him. Not to forget that you slapped him when he crossed your limit.”, She reminded me.
‘Now stop behaving like a brat and talk to him, OR I will do that by taking control of your body. So, either way, he will find out about us. Now decide which option you want to choose?’, She asked. God! My Lycan was dominating her human.
I walked toward the chair and sat down, huffing before opening my mouth. “I shifted.”
“You what?” he asked in confusion.
“I shifted on the day when I was married to Daniel.”, I explained.
“But…but how is this possible?” he asked in confusion. “You are still smelling like a human instead of a werewolf.” I took Mom’s diary from my bag and passed it to him.
“Here. Read this before I can explain the rest of the things.”, I said, not to which he nodded and took mom’s diary from my hand. He took a while to read whatever mom had written in the diary, and just like me, he looked for the other pages, but the pages were torn. “That’s why I came here the other day to know about the torn pages, but neither you nor your wife has any idea about it.”, I said. “And I’m so interested in knowing mom’s past because I want to know mom’s family bloodline.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Mom had written that she had a wolf, and I know you too have a wolf. But I have a Lycan.”
“A Lycan?”, He asked in surprise, to which I nodded my head. “That explains why didn’t you shift on your 18th birthday but again, they shift only when they find their mate and when the full moon’s rays fall on them.”
“I know that part.”, I said, recalling Diana’s words. “And Daniel is my mate.”
“Now it explained why he couldn’t shift from you when he saw you. Thank Moon Goddess that it was not because of hatred or anger.”, This time, he talked with himself while I tried not to smile. At the same time, Ivory was grinning ear to ear because of happiness.
“Now that you know why I want to know my reason behind digging into mom’s past. Can you PLEASE let me know who her parents are and from which she belongs? I want to know whether someone in mom’s family is Lycan?”
“Maybe there will be, but why are you interested in finding out about that?” he asked and laughed nervously.
“I can smell your nervousness.”, I said. “What are you hiding, and why are you so adamant about not digging into my mother’s past?” I questioned. My nostril flared in anger.
“I…I…”
“Do you know what? Only my Lycan is not the reason behind all this. Because along with my Lycan, something else. Has. broughten. Inside. me.”, I said, stressing every word. “Because of which I feel thirsty all the time, and it is not the thirst of water but BLOOD.”, Saying this, I angrily opened my mouth, and I was sure that my vampire’s fang would have shown its appearance.
