CHAPTER 69

Book:FALLING FOR A FAKE OMEGA Published:2024-6-3

TWO MONTHS LATER…
It was Valentine’s Day and the grand opening of Meghan’s resort. The entire staff, especially those from the kitchen and reception, were busy. Meanwhile, Sabrina was sitting calmly near the main entrance of the resort. Her gift shop wasn’t officially open yet because she didn’t want to coincide with Meghan’s opening. However, they decided to set up a small table near the entrance, and every guest of the resort would receive a little gift from her shop.
Sabrina wasn’t really at a loss because Meghan provided the flowers for free. It was for the resort’s opening, after all. She only had to make an effort, and even the supplies came from Meghan. It was also a form of free promotion for her gift shop.
“Congrats, Meghan,” she greeted the woman, who looked bossy in her red dress. The resort had a gold theme like her house, but Meghan chose to wear a red dress, probably to make it easier for her staff to find her.
“Thank you, Sabrina. Wait, something seems different about you,” Meghan observed, noticing something unusual about Sabrina.
“Huh? Well, look at you! You look great in that outfit,” Sabrina praised Meghan, who appeared to be in her twenties in her attire.
“Oh, maybe this cape is stealing the show,” Meghan joked, adjusting the removable cape of her dress. “You also look beautiful today,” Meghan returned the compliment.
“So, it’s just the two of us competing now,” Sabrina said.
“What else? Wait a moment, I need to check on Thalia again,” Meghan excused herself, knowing that the resort was full and the kitchen staff would surely be busy as well.
“Sure,” Sabrina replied, understanding that Meghan was quite busy. Meghan had given a super discount to the pioneering guests of the resort, and all available rooms had been reserved a month ago. Even the lunch buffet arranged by Meghan was sold out.
As Meghan left, her assistant arrived. The woman had asked for a quick break in the restroom earlier. Like Sabrina, she was a single mother and a kind person. Sabrina hoped she wouldn’t change so that they could both improve their lives together.
“Is that a celebrity?”
Sabrina furrowed her brow upon hearing the woman’s question. They were near the entrance, so they could clearly see everyone entering the resort.
“Where?” she asked, and the woman immediately pointed to a man standing right in front of the resort, causing Sabrina’s eyes to widen.
“Ma’am, where are you going?”
“You handle things here for now,” she instructed the woman and quickly left her position. As she walked away from the resort’s entrance, her heart was pounding so loudly that it almost deafened her.
“Where’s Meghan?” she asked Thalia as she entered the kitchen.
“I think she went back to the reception,” Thalia replied.
Sabrina scratched her head because she knew that Meghan was also angry with the man, and she was afraid there might be trouble inside the resort. She hurriedly walked back to the lobby and saw Meghan talking to a staff member at the reception. She didn’t hear what the staff said, but she saw Meghan nod and point towards the man, so she ran towards Meghan.
“Wait!” she called out to her, but it seemed like Meghan didn’t hear her. She just kept walking. There was nothing else she could do but follow Meghan and confront the person she didn’t want to see after what he did.
“Hello Meghan,” Marcus greeted his girlfriend with a smile.
She heard Marcus greet Meghan, and as she waited for Meghan’s response, her anxiety grew even stronger. What if Meghan suddenly punched the guy? She glanced at some of the guests, and most of them had their eyes fixed on Marcus.
Well, no wonder. He looked like a celebrity with his clean-cut hair and a clean face. No beard or anything that could detract from his handsomeness. Above all, he had the aura of a CEO!
“OMG!” she gasped loudly when she saw Meghan’s reaction to their encounter with Marcus Hart. “Meghan…,” she whispered the woman’s name as she approached her, but before she could reach Meghan, Marcus immediately hugged her.
“I’ll take care of her,” Marcus scolded Sabrina, swatting her hand away from Meghan’s body.
“Did she really faint?” Sabrina asked in disbelief.
“Maybe,” Marcus replied, remembering when he fell victim to her pretending to faint.
“Where are you taking her?”
“To the room,” Marcus replied, and he quickly left towards the stairs.
Sabrina gasped again at Marcus’ response. The way he acted made it seem like Meghan didn’t do anything wrong. She tried to follow, but she was stopped by a hand, and when she looked at the person who prevented her, she was instantly struck by his face!
She didn’t speak or scream because she didn’t want to attract attention. If she had punched the guy earlier, maybe no one noticed because everyone’s attention was focused on Marcus carrying Meghan.
She walked discreetly towards the back of the resort, knowing that Kenneth was following her. She took a few deep breaths, but she couldn’t calm down. Her anger still burned strongly, not because she was thrilled, but because of the anger and resentment towards the man who had been absent for several months. Then, she wondered if Meghan has invited him.  When the two of them reached the staff’s lounge, she immediately confronted Kenneth and raised an eyebrow.
“I won’t ask why you’re here, but you can leave,” she said in a calm tone, as if she were talking to an old deaf man.
“I miss you,” Kenneth said, staring at the face of the woman he loved.
Just a simple “I miss you” from Kenneth, and she almost forgot that they were not on good terms. “Thank you, but I wish you wouldn’t show up in front of me,” she lied because no woman would admit to her true feelings right away.
“I made a mistake, Sabrina,” he confessed.
“Well, it’s good that you know that,” Sabrina remained calm as she spoke, her voice the only thing that remained calm, but her heart couldn’t stay still, and it seemed like it wanted to burst out of her body.
“Will you forgive me?”
She crossed her arms over her chest and gave Kenneth an angry look. “After what you did to me? Wow, you’re something! But don’t worry, I’m not angry at you anymore. If you want to see Scarlet, I won’t stop you, but that’s as far as it goes.”
Kenneth sighed deeply.
Actually, he had wanted to get back together with the woman, but her determination to fulfill what she promised to Margaret prevailed. He thought she could handle it, but he started to worry when the woman started being sweet to him when playing a game.
He was grateful to Meghan because she always updated him on what was happening in Sabrina’s life. At first, he just wanted to bond with the woman through the game until they became sweet to each other.
Kenneth thought that if she could be sweet with another guy, it only meant one thing. She had forgotten about him and her heart was ready to love again. When his friend took Meghan after fainting, he found it as an opportunity to talk to Sabrina.
“Do you have someone new?” he asked Sabrina.
“Not yet, but I’m heading in that direction. Don’t tell me you expected me to wait for you forever,” she sarcastically replied to Kenneth. “For me, it’s old-school to keep waiting even after being left behind. Tell me, am I not attractive?”
Kenneth shook his head, even though he didn’t fully understand Sabrina’s question. “You’re beautiful, Sabrina. For me, you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met,” Kenneth explained.
“That’s right! I’m not ugly, so why should I wait for nothing?”
“You can only say that if you no longer love someone, Sabrina.”
“That’s right! Don’t you understand what I want to tell you? We won’t be okay anymore, now or ever,” she decisively told Kenneth.
“Sabrina…,” he said her name, unable to read her thoughts for the first time.
“Scarlet is just at home if you want to see her,” she told him, letting him know that he should not expect anything from her anymore.
“I still love you,” he shouted.
