The next morning, Margaret woke up early and approached Meghan and Sabrina. Last night, she was disturbed by their loud noise while she was sleeping. She felt compelled to go downstairs and check what was going on and why Meghan and Sabrina were making so much noise.
“You’re acting like children!” Margaret shouted at the two girls who, if they hadn’t surpassed the age on the calendar, wouldn’t be so unruly.
“It’s just a game, Mom!” Sabrina replied. “Do you want me to go crazy with sadness?”
“Stop talking back to me, Sabrina! What do you mean by going crazy with sadness? Fix your life, or I’ll be forced to let Brandon straighten you out!”
“Mom, we’re not children anymore for you to scold us like this. We just wanted to have fun, so we played last night. What’s wrong with that?”
Margaret realized that Sabrina was right. It was just a game, and she shouldn’t be worried. But she had read that most people who spend too much time on online games are either bored or deeply depressed.
“There are many things you can occupy yourself with,” Margaret explained.
“There’s nothing wrong with playing with Meghan,” Sabrina continued to insist on what she believed was right.
“You’re right, but it’s a big mistake to prioritize playing over working hard for your child’s future,” Margaret lectured Sabrina.
It hurt her to hear what her mother said, but she had a point. If she wasn’t under her mother’s care, she might not be able to give everything to Scarlet. She didn’t have a job, and the little savings she had was used for her small business. Financially, she was broke!
“I’m sorry, Mom. I just realized now that I haven’t been serious about life. I promise that from now on, I will work hard,” Sabrina said apologetically because she genuinely felt ashamed. She discreetly glanced at Meghan’s direction and felt even more embarrassed. Meghan had been standing on her own for a long time while she relied on her mother.
“That’s because we won’t be here forever with your father. Always remember that you’re a mother, Sabrina, and you can’t rely on a man for your life, especially when it comes to finances,” Margaret advised.
“I’ll call Kenneth’s office later and demand financial support for my child,” Sabrina replied, and she immediately felt a frown appear on Margaret’s forehead, while Meghan shifted in her position to face her.
“And why would you do that?” Margaret shouted because she didn’t like Sabrina’s plan. Yes, it’s stated in the law that the father should provide support for Scarlet, but is that really necessary? Because if it were up to her, she would never ask for support from a worthless man.
“Why not? It’s my child’s right!” Sabrina insisted, but after a few moments, she felt slightly embarrassed in front of the two women who could stand on their own two feet.
“Just focus on your business, and I’ll tell our lawyer to contact Kenneth wherever he is.”
“If you need additional capital, I can lend you,” Meghan offered. She used the term “borrow” to motivate Sabrina to work harder and earn more.
“Thank you, Meghan,” Sabrina replied.
After their conversation, Meghan invited Sabrina to go to the greenhouse to teach her how to arrange flowers. Sabrina initially didn’t want to agree when she was asked to be a supplier of flowers, but it was also an additional income for the future of her child.
“How’s your gift shop website?” Meghan asked.
“I’ve already talked to someone about it,” Sabrina answered. “The social media page is the only thing that’s not finished yet because I don’t have any pictures to post there,” she added.
“Take some pictures from the greenhouse and say that the flowers in your shop are always fresh because you have your own greenhouse,” Meghan suggested.
“Hmm, that sounds like a good idea,” Sabrina responded with a smile, and they both said goodbye to their children who were busy with their coloring books.
The greenhouse was just a few meters away from the house, so they quickly entered. Like the first time she entered the greenhouse, Sabrina was still amazed by the blooming flowers.
“Actually, I thought of something last night, just as an additional income for the resort.”
“Like what?”
“I’m planning to tap into your services for couples. Well, I still need to finalize it later if it’s feasible,” Meghan explained.
“I think I have an idea of what you want to happen. Is it for surprises?”
“Yes!”
“That’s definitely doable! Let’s make it happen,” Sabrina said.
“Why not, right?”
“Let me ask you, Meghan. Is there really no hope left for Marcus in your eyes?”
Meghan pouted slightly, her eyes twinkling, and shrugged her shoulders. “It depends on his effort,” was Meghan’s only response because she still didn’t know if the man would return.
Sabrina just nodded in response to Meghan’s statement, knowing that she couldn’t say that Meghan was still waiting for Marcus. “Let’s play a game, just one game,” Sabrina requested to Meghan because she still needed to learn the mechanics of the mobile game.
Meghan laughed at Sabrina’s request, as it seemed that Sabrina had the potential to become addicted to playing. “Well, who was your duo last night? Don’t lie because I saw it in your history,” Meghan warned Sabrina to tell the truth, as she wouldn’t let it go until she heard the whole truth.
Sabrina smiled as she remembered a Chou user who was her teammate last night. Yes, they were caught by Margaret, but they weren’t scolded right away. They were just told to go to sleep, and the lecture came the next morning.
“He’s from Stonewick,” Sabrina replied.
“Did he chat with you after the game?”
“Hmm, yup. Actually, we’re already friends on my social media,” Sabrina answered. She wondered why she hadn’t accepted his friend request yet when she needed someone to talk to during late nights.
“You’re really soft-hearted, aren’t you?”
“Just a little, but you’re exaggerating. We were just duo partners in the game,” Sabrina complained.
“Where is this heading? One of these days, we might hear that you have a boyfriend who’s a gamer,” Meghan teased Sabrina, although she already had a suspicion about who Sabrina played with last night.
“Boyfriend right away? Can’t we be friends first?”
“Just be careful with your duo partner, he might deceive you,” Meghan reminded Sabrina.
“Me? They’re the ones who should worry,” Sabrina confidently said because she didn’t plan to be deceived again. “By the way, isn’t Kenneth too shameless?”
Meghan was surprised by Sabrina suddenly bringing up Kenneth’s name in their conversation. “Why, Sabrina? Did something happen that I don’t know about?”
“Hmm, nothing happened. I just thought that I gave him a second chance, and yet he’s the one who had the audacity to leave. Who does he think of himself?”
Meghan sighed as she listened to Sabrina’s rant. “Are we going in circles again?”
