“You really scared me last night,” he confessed.
Sabrina reassured him, understanding the jealousy he felt. “It’s only natural to feel that way, Kenneth. I get jealous too, you know. Have you forgotten what happened between Isabelle and me?”
“How could I forget? But I hope we never have to go through that again. It was dangerous,” he responded, concern evident in his voice.
Curiosity got the better of Kenneth, and he inquired about Isabelle’s whereabouts. “Where is Isabelle now?”
“I heard she moved to another country,” Kenneth replied, a hint of relief in his voice.
“Well, at least I won’t be running into her all the time,” Sabrina remarked.
Kenneth reassured Sabrina, making his feelings clear. “Even if we were to see each other every day, I wouldn’t trade you for Isabelle. We won’t let her come between us.”
Sabrina gently reminded Kenneth about Isabelle’s affection for him. “That girl had feelings for you, maybe you’ve forgotten.”
“But I only want you,” he declared, emphasizing his devotion.
“Until when?” she asked.
Suddenly, the pounding in Kenneth’s chest grew stronger, causing him to request a moment to compose himself. “Hold on,” he ordered, his voice slightly trembling. As the nerves began to settle, Kenneth couldn’t contain his love for Sabrina any longer.
“Hey, what’s wrong?”
“I love you, Sabrina,” he confessed.
Sabrina reciprocated his feelings, her response filled with sincerity. “I love you too,” she replied, her inability to embrace him leading her to gently squeeze his thigh instead.
Kenneth hinted at something he wanted to share with Sabrina, but he decided to wait until they arrived in the province. His mysterious words piqued Sabrina’s curiosity. Could Kenneth be talking about Sabrina herself? A smile spread across her face, attempting to hide the sudden nervousness she felt.
“Will you give me gold?” she jokingly asked, teasing Kenneth.
He responded with a playful tone, hinting that there was something more significant in store. “Even more than that,” he replied, leaving Sabrina eager to uncover the surprise he had in store.
However, when they arrived in Claybourne, Brandon demanded too much time from Kenneth so he had limited interactions with Sabrina.
One morning, as they prepared for a family outing, a moment of opportunity presented itself. Kenneth turned to Sabrina and said, “Don’t you have something to tell me?”
“Hmm, I love you,” he replied casually.
Sabrina felt a pang of disappointment, as that was not the response she had hoped for. “I love you too,” she responded. “But lately, I’ve noticed you seem preoccupied. Is everything alright?”
“Preoccupied? Not at all,” Kenneth vehemently denied, brushing off any signs of unease. “Tonight, we’re going somewhere.”
“Anywhere in particular?” Sabrina inquired, wondering if this was the moment she had been waiting for, a chance for the newlyweds to have a romantic date.
“Just somewhere,” Kenneth replied cryptically.
Sabrina sensed that this might be the opportunity she had been longing for. “Just the two of us?” she asked, hoping Kenneth shared her desire for a special evening together.
“Of course!” he affirmed.
“Hmm, I sense that you have something planned,” she teased playfully.
“You’re right,” Kenneth responded, his hand gently caressing Sabrina’s slightly swollen belly, evidence of her pregnancy. “Has our little one been causing you any trouble?”
A smile spread across Sabrina’s face, grateful for Kenneth’s unwavering support and the shared journey of parenthood. It was a far cry from the time he had gotten Scarlet’s mother pregnant, which often led to unexpected tears.
Knowing that Kenneth was always there for her filled Sabrina with contentment. He was always ready to lend a hand when she needed it. The thought of having another child didn’t seem daunting; in fact, it felt like a blessing.
“Not really, but if I could guess, I have a strong feeling our baby will be a boy,” Kenneth expressed with certainty. “And once he arrives, are you confident we can finally tie the knot?”
“Absolutely! I don’t want to walk down the aisle with a big baby bump,” Sabrina explained with a playful tone.
As Sabrina busied herself preparing snacks for the children, Kenneth came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her. “Promise me that your love for me will never change,” he whispered softly.
Sabrina paused in her task, her hands still, and turned to face Kenneth. “That will never happen,” she vowed. “I’m fully committed to you. If we ever face misunderstandings in the future, let’s promise to communicate openly. I don’t want to waste another day due to pride,” Sabrina added, emphasizing the importance of honest communication.
Kenneth felt a pang of guilt, knowing he still hadn’t revealed his past marriage to Sabrina. Perhaps it wasn’t necessary for her to know all the details, as it had been a long time ago. “I am committed to you as well, and I promise not to keep any secrets from you in the future,” Kenneth assured her.
“Okay,” Sabrina agreed. “Look at Scarlet,” she said, pointing to their daughter happily playing with Meghan’s daughter.
As Kenneth watched Scarlet, he made a silent promise to himself to do everything in his power to keep their family together. He cherished the happiness they shared and vowed to protect it at all costs.
“Do you want some buko juice?” he asked Sabrina, knowing it was her favorite treat since becoming pregnant.
Sabrina smiled, appreciating his thoughtful gesture. “I love your knack for finding the perfect coconuts, especially when you’re the one who climbs the tree,” she joked, almost laughing at his comical reaction.
Their private beach was adorned with dwarf coconuts all around. Kenneth had no qualms about fetching a coconut himself, as he had done many times before. However, his luck seemed to elude him that day when a lizard unexpectedly startled him, causing him to drop the coconut he had grabbed.
“How about swimming later?” she asked.
“Swimming?”
“Don’t worry, I will not let you drown like you did to me,” she told him, but then she immediately zipped her mouth after mentioning something tragic that happened in the past.
