Kenneth was lost in thought while his mind wandered to Sabrina. What if Sabrina and Sabrina were alike? She suppressed her true emotions just to appear happy!
His forehead creased when he noticed that all the lights in his house were turned on. Even the terrace lights were on, contradicting what Marcus said about staying in a hotel for a while.
“Marcus?” he called out his friend’s name, but there was no response. He wondered why he had to turn on all the lights when there was no occasion. “Marcus?” he called again, but still no answer. He shrugged and proceeded to his room to change his clothes. He needed to rest early because he was going to the province the next day.
“Surprise!”
He didn’t have time to react when Sabrina suddenly hugged him. It was a tight embrace, and he could feel her excitement. “Sabrina…” he whispered her name.
“I miss you,” Sabrina said, planting a kiss on Kenneth’s cheek.
“Aren’t you mad at me?” he immediately asked the woman, wondering if she was angry because he hadn’t come home for several days as he initially promised.
“Mad,” Sabrina answered shortly.
Kenneth felt a slight nervousness with Sabrina’s response, and he involuntarily swallowed his saliva. “It’s okay if you want to slap me a few times because it’s my fault,” he said.
Yes, she was angry with him, but she had no intention of slapping him. “Why should I? But you can’t sleep without explaining to me why you didn’t fulfill your promise to come home,” Sabrina calmly replied. There was no point in picking a fight with him. Their happy moments would be wasted if she let her childishness prevail.
“What about Scarlet?”
“I left her for a while to pick you up here,” Sabrina answered.
“I see. Coffee?”
“Sure,” Sabrina replied, and when Kenneth pulled her closer to his body, she allowed it.
“There’s a new coffee shop around the corner,” Kenneth said.
“Shall we go out?”
“Don’t you want to?”
“Let’s just stay here,” Sabrina declined, as they went outside just to have coffee because they still had a lot to talk about.
“The coffee there is better,” Kenneth explained.
“Okay, I’ll just change,” Sabrina said.
“No need, you look cute in your hoodie and shorts.”
Sabrina pinched Kenneth’s side because it was obvious that he was just teasing her. “Fine, impress me more with your flattery because you owe me big time,” she said. Maybe if Marcus hadn’t called her about what happened to her boyfriend, she wouldn’t have been able to forgive him. What he did was not a joke. He simply couldn’t be contacted on the day he promised to come home.
“I didn’t tease you,” Kenneth replied.
“Well, then, fine. Just be prepared for me later,” she warned Kenneth.
“I am ready to accept whatever it is,” she said. She admitted that she made a mistake. “Thank you for still being willing to understand me,” she added.
“I don’t want to lose you,” Sabrina confessed. For her, Kenneth was the only man who could make her happy, so she would do everything to keep him from getting tired of her. “That’s how much I love you,” she said.
“I love you too, Sabrina. I’m sorry for what happened, my mind has just been chaotic these past few days,” Kenneth said.
He had wanted to mention Sabrina’s name earlier, but he was prepared to wait for the man to speak about another woman. “I understand,” she replied. “How’s your work going?”
“It’s okay even though Janelle resigned,” Kenneth shared Janelle’s plan to resign.
“Have you hired a replacement yet?”
“Not yet, but the accounting department is already taking care of finding a new secretary,” Kenneth answered.
“I think it would be better if you hire a male secretary,” Sabrina suggested.
Kenneth laughed because he knew someone who hired a male secretary, but it turned out that the person was just pretending to be a man. “Do you think it would be more effective to have a male secretary?” he asked Sabrina, trying to hold back his laughter. “Would you be jealous if my future secretary is beautiful and sexy?”
“Actually, I’m not worried about that. I’m more concerned about the possibility of me becoming a criminal if that happens in the near future,” she said.
“That’s okay. Our lawyer is good, so he can get you out of jail if it comes to that,” Kenneth joked to lighten the tension between them.
“You’re such a joker,” Sabrina said and playfully hit the man’s arm. “Let’s go,” she said and pulled him to leave.
“Sabrina, wait.”
“Why?”
“Nothing. I just want to thank you for not being angry with me,” Kenneth said with a smile.
“Later,” Sabrina replied.
Since their cousin’s coffee shop was nearby, they agreed to just walk the distance there. “I think you’ll get along with Emma,” he said.
Sabrina furrowed her brow because it was the first time she had heard the name of the woman Kenneth mentioned. “Who’s Emma?”
“My cousin who owns the coffee shop we’re going to,” he answered.
“Ah,” she said because she had nothing else to say. “I hope so,” Sabrina added because it would be better if she got along with Kenneth’s relatives.
“She’s also kind, although a bit spoiled,” Kenneth replied.
When they arrived at the coffee shop, Sabrina’s eyes widened upon seeing the man standing by the entrance. “Dylan? What are you doing here?”
“Hey Sabrina, it’s been awhile! How are you?”
“I’m here, still beautiful. And you?”
“Nothing has changed,” he muttered under his breath.
He offered some advice to the man, urging him to move on. It had been several years, yet he couldn’t let go of the woman he deeply cared for.
As he eavesdropped on their conversation, he felt a sense of relief wash over him. Seizing the moment, he gently took the woman’s hand and made it clear to the man, whom she called Dylan, that Sabrina belonged to him. “Baby, let’s go,” he asserted.
“Just a moment, baby. Dylan, why don’t you save your number and we can catch up sometime?” he suggested, handing his phone over to the man. Once he had exchanged numbers with his former colleague, they stepped into the nearby coffee shop.
Curiosity got the better of him, and he couldn’t help but inquire about the nature of their relationship. It was evident to him that there was more than just friendship between them, especially since he hadn’t been introduced to the man.
“Sabrina, who is he?” he asked, his suspicions growing stronger. However, the moment the words left his mouth, he regretted it instantly as she abruptly pulled her hand away and glared at him.
“My previous workmate,” she replied.
