It truly is pathetic.
I lost my parents over a simple misunderstanding.
Yet looking over at Natalie I could see her hands behind this. Hence why I couldn’t control myself before I went and slapped her face.
“All because of your evil schemes so many innocent lives were destroyed. All because of your greediness.” I shouted.
“How-” Dahlia started.
“If you want to be slapped as well you can come at me.” I yelled interrupting before she started spewing her curses.
I was pushed back as Mike stood in front of his mother glaring at me.
“My dad left here so that you could get what you wanted.” I said angrily.
“How could you know from someone that’s dead? And your presence here after a long time means he told you nothing.” He sneered.
“Thank you for pointing out about the death of someone you killed.” I retorted.
” I didn’t-” He started.
“Don’t start with the usual lie.” Only to be interrupted by me.
“I am not lying when I say that I didn’t do it. It was someone else.” He shouted while looking behind me.
I looked back to see uncle Nath standing there. When did he come?
I was confused. “Do you know who it is?” I asked Uncle Nath as I saw him clenching his jaw in anger at Mike.
“That’s why I asked you to come home immediately after discharge. I might know who it is. And I don’t think here where the manipulators reside is the right option.” He said to which I nodded.
I should not have been surprised when Uncle Nath said he knew the killer. From the moment of funeral till now uncle Nath hasn’t stopped looking for clues.
Always sharing it with me whenever he got something.
The clue about killer being in my parent’s hometown, even the fact that I should look out when I told him about the first night dinner incident, he had been there with me from the start to end.
If not for him I might have still been looking for clues in New York and not bothered to look into where it all started.
Though I think because of Ryder I still would have come here, but with my stubbornness even that is a doubt.
“Cupcake . End whatever it is now. I can see that you are getting tired. Sooner this is over, you can rest sweetheart.” Uncle said concerned.
“I will be in the car. “He said before leaving.
I turned to look at the trios. I don’t even know why I even bothered to come here.
“All this, for your greediness.” I sighed while shaking my head. “Well I hope you will be happy with the life you have in the jail. All this conversation were recorded with legal precautions. They will be here any moment.”
I said calmly though with an edginess to my tone .
I began to walk to the door only to be pushed away with a huge force. I heard the gun shot but couldn’t see the person as I skid and hit my arm in the corner of the table stand.
I looked up as soon as I got balance only to see police holding Mike down while an injured Nathaniel on the floor.
“Uncle !” I called out as I ran to him and began assessing his injuries.
Thankfully it’s just a scratch on his arm and not a deep wound.
“Lets go to the hospital”. I suggested as I looked at him to see if he needs any help as he held his injured hand.
“NO! I hate the smell. There’s supplies at home. I will tend to it there.” He said
As he walked to the car. I got into the driving seat before Nath did. Seeing that arguing with Me, would be fruitless he unwillingly agreed to me driving .
I got out as he began walking to passenger side and went with him. After I closed the door on Uncle Nath’s side I turned to grandpa who had followed us to the car.
Looking at his unease state, I hugged him.
“Don’t worry grandpa. It’s going to be okay.” I said.
“Though I knew my family was going to be broken forever. I never thought I would loose my son because of my ignorance.” He sniffed. I tightened my hold onto him.
“Though Natalie was a mistake, I respect you for respecting my dad’s wishes in keeping this family together even though you were suffering. I hope you find peace grandpa.”
He pulled back and held me at an arm’s length .
“I not only lead them to cause my son’s death, I almost did the same to you. If they hadnt-.” He teared up.
“Grandpa! Shh. Amanda and uncle were there, don’t think about what if. And I am fine now. You have punished yourself by staying with them and suffered for years. It’s time for you to be free, grandpa. If you are not happy, you need to make a decision. It definitely is what he wants for you.” I said
“I am leaving now grandpa. Uncle Nath needs my help.” I said while smiling apologetically looking towards uncle Nath, to which he just shook his head laughing.
“Take care sweetheart. Call me whenever you can.” Grandpa bidded his goodbye.
“I will grandpa.” I said while walking to the driver seat. “Bye for now.” I said as I got into the car.
As I pulled out of the driveway, we three watched Mike, Natalie and Dahlia being arrested as they tried to escape while cursing at us.
I shook my head and watched grandpa for the last time to see him looking at us while his other family got into the police car.
I wished he had known my dad only wanted him to be happy and would have cared less for that wretched step family.
I smiled at him as he waved at us before driving the car away from the house.
When everything’s over. And if I am alive. I will visit him again and make sure he finally feels loved. Cause I do have a feeling this journey is going to be the end.
