*Kat’s POV
After 24- hour observatory period the results came back normal. I was allowed to be discharged.
Uncle Nathaniel wanted to immediately take me to my mom’s family house but I refused.
I wanted to know why and how they could be so cruel. Was it just for money and nothing else?
For their humanity sake I hope they would have a proper reason.
Human beings don’t hurt others right?
Much to my uncle’s dismay, he allowed my wish to go to my paternal house but on one condition. That he would come with me.
I didn’t consider it to be a bad deal. In fact I don’t think I am confident anymore, to allow neither myself nor with Amanda to step into that house without proper precaution.
If they are capable of kidnapping, I wouldn’t put it past them to do more.
Throughout the ride to my dad’s childhood house. I had only one thought.
“Why was Ryder there?” I asked voicing my thoughts.
“I don’t know. Maybe he arranged the thugs and wanted to make sure they did their job well?” Uncle Nat asked with an edginess in his tone.
“No, we came to the conclusion Mike did it. So Ryder was not there for that purpose.” I said. I saw Uncle Nat opening his mouth to voice his thoughts. But before he did I interjected him by saying. “No Ryder won’t join forces with Mike, since he is the head of the company that had killed his parents. Also the reason why Ryder hates me, since I am related to the company as well.” Though I said the last part under my breath, I saw uncle looking at me through the rear mirror and gave me his sympathetic smile before looking back to the road.
After discharge Amanda and I got into uncle Nath’s car as uncle wanted to join me in the journey back to dad’s hell house.
Poor dad what must have he gone through if this is what I went through within 2 days. Speaking of hell house.
There’s something or someone from my hell. That i still haven’t got the answer to.
Why was Ryder really there? How did he know I was there? If he didn’t know I was there then why was he there?
I turned back to look at Amanda from the passenger seat. “Did Neo mention why Ryder was there?” I asked her.
If anyone does know what he is doing then only his best friend can tell.
But unfortunately she just shook her head.
“Was it Neo who told Ryder about this?” to which she shrugged.
“He didn’t mention about that to me. So I don’t know.” She replied.
Okay, so that key to the accurate answer is cut as well.
“Even if we don’t know why he was there we do know he just stood there watching.” Uncle sneered.
“Let’s not jump into conclusion.” Amanda muttered and fortunately uncle Nath didnt hear.
Or else I would have had to exhaust myself while calming them both.
What’s gotten into Amanda. For someone who can’t keep their mouth close Amanda being quiet and her tensed posture showed how much uncomfortable she is in this journey. But I am grateful for her being with me in everything I do.
I would have been okay doing this alone but I know for a fact I would have been lost without her. Though I do feel guilty for dragging her into this mess.
“He could have at least called a police while he was there. And from the looks of it he had been there before we reached. And it was your friend here who called the police at the right time.” Uncle continued.
Oh we were still on that topic.
I could see Amanda clenching her jaw tightly . Is it really because she is uncomfortable going back to the hell house or is she trying to be defensive for someone who is hell bent on hurting me?
First the case against Mr. Simon. Now this, what more would be there till he is satisfied with hurting me? With those heavy thoughts in mind we sat silently.
The moment we reached the house I literally had barged into it after asking uncle to stay in the car as Amanda followed me. The array of emotions on the witches face from shock to anger was funny to watch.
“Surprised that I am still alive and in front of you?” I asked though it came out as a statement. Before they could reply a man entered the room.
Seeing the resemblance between him and grandpa I guess this is Mike.
Killed innocent lives. Yet living his life to the fullest by using my dad’s money.
“And I thought the bitch might have escaped, only to invite death again huh?” Mike sneered.
“Mike!” Natalie and Dahlia hissed trying to keep him quiet.
I could see Amanda wanted to give piece of her mind to them but she held back after seeing the look in my eyes.
This is my battle to fight and I will do it alone this time.
“What mom? You think the little bitch here doesn’t know we are behind this? Why do you think she’s here then huh? You guys drugged her and I am 100% sure those useless piece of men must have mentioned my name.” Mike explained, “Anyways, why are you here? Are you trying to let me complete what they failed to do?” He asked mockingly while gesturing towards his mom and sister, making them glare back at him.
He doesn’t have even a tiniest amount of respect for his family let alone remorse for the life he took.
“Why?” I asked coming straight to the point wanting to end this as soon as possible.
“Why? This belongs to me not him nor you. So I am just taking back what belongs to me.” He snapped.
“There’s nothing that belongs to you, he worked hard for it.” Amanda snapped making me glare at her and motioned her towards the door. She glared at the trio before leaving.
Though what she said is right. I don’t want to worsen this situation already. Though seeing the triumph on their faces I am very much tempted to throw the coffee table on them.
As I closed my eyes controlling my anger, I felt a hand on my shoulder, I turned to look at Grandpa showing his support, which gave me the power to continue the conversation without resorting to violence.
Violence doesn’t solve anything, though it does help when it’s absolutely needed.
“Though what she said is right, I send her away to end this once and for all and not to worsen it. If it isn’t already.” I said while inhaling deeply.
“I know my dad, and he must have tried everything to not let you feel that way. If he truly wanted for you not to be here, he could have. Because according to what you said and grandpa’s actions I feel just his words were needed that could define your status here.” I said while thinking back to the previous conversations.
“You bitch!” Natalie hollered.
“Enough!” Grandpa yelled. “I have had it enough. She’s right. There were times were I truly wanted to end everything with you but it was Damien who shopped me, asking me to let Mike have the complete family that Damien didn’t have.” Grandpa said with his voice breaking.
“If he did say that why didn’t you listen to him and favoured him over me?” Mike bellowed.
So all this was over a little boy feeling unwanted.
Just over a misunderstanding.
