Chapter 62- Kept and not kept Promises.

Book:Their End, My Beginning Published:2024-5-1

“I see you have kept your promise Mr. Scott ”
“And may I ask what that promise might have been Ms. Black.”
He is purposefully trying to annoy me by using the last name I wish I hadn’t found out. Then the only way of annoying him would be to call him by his middle name.
” Trying to be stupid is not such a good look on you Mr. Wa – Scott. ” Nope I can’t.
Not when it reminds him of why he continued using the middle name he hates so much. I cant go down to his level just to enrage him. No matter how angry I am I don’t want to be like him.
” I am talking about how you had threatened me like how you would sue Mr. Simon for breach of contract if I didn’t complete the work at the earliest .”
“Oh that” He said smugly while scratching his stuble. His looks gives away his exhaustion and sleepless nights.
“What I don’t understand is I indeed have completed the work at the earliest but why?” I asked ignoring his mockery confusion.
“That was just some of the ways I thought I could force you to leave this place so I wouldn’t ever have to see you.” He said with what appears to be coldness, but I could see a hint of sadness and tiredness in those blue eyes I love so much. But as soon as I noticed that, it disappeared and in its place was anger though there was a tiny bit of sadness in those eyes to show the jerk still has some pieces of heart in him. Maybe it might be illusions my brain gives me to not loose hope. For what? For whom? For the man who hates me to his core?
“You know, it is even low blow even for you Mr. Scott. This case doesn’t have your name on it though your presence here gives the way to the doubts growing in me.” I said to which he just shrugged.
“Kat!” I heard Amanda call before she came and stood beside me while glaring at Mr. Scott the whole time.
“I see you have even my friend on your side Ms. Black. Good move on using your best friend’s relations for your benefits. But it is not surprising as you have used me for your benefits too.” He said smirking while looking at Neocount. His words were like twisting the dagger he had already stabbed me with.
I kept silent while trying to maintain a poker face while Neocount was trying his best to calm a raging Amanda. Angry Mandy is not someone you want to deal with. I am speaking from personal experience. Poor Neocount, good luck buddy.
During the time I had spend my time crying over someone who shall not be named now, Mandy had broken off her relationship with Neocount. It was after I had comparatively cooled down after coming from the park that I asked about the reason for not seeing Neocount around or her calling him. That’s when she told me about them breaking up. Apparently Neo was not that happy with it but saying no to Mandy is a hard thing she can be very convincing. He must have received pretty good points from her to not fight back and respect her decisions, cause from the impression i got from him he doesnt seem like the guy to give up.
Few days later, I had collected his number from Raven and had him come over and sat them both together and told them not to be effected from my relationship with his bestfriend. Also that she is my bestfriend and as much I am jealous, I am happy for them so I will be troubled if they broke up on my name. Well that speech and practically begging them not to break up made them get back together and ever since then they both had been a very strong couple though they only had started dating for few weeks now totally.
“It is too low Ryder and you know it.” Neocount said before he went to the officer to talk with him while dragging Mr. Scott with him.
“You need to calm down, I cant deal with two people in jail.” I said while walking out of the station to get some air. It is too suffocating to be with Mr. Scott and his stabbing words.
“What the hell Kat? Why didn’t you respond to what that bastard had said? This is not the Kat I know, the one who was ready to scratch the eyeballs of anyone who tries to take your food. Where is she?” She asked too pissed off to laugh at the joke of me and my food. I chuckled making her even more surprised. I usually have something to say to that comment but today I just laughed it off.
“Well she is still there but is not ready to give her enemy the satisfaction of seeing her get effected by his words.” I said while shrugging to her still confused expression.
“Well ladies it is settled.” Said Neocount while bringing Mr. Simon with him.
“How?” I asked him while I went to Mr. Simon, who is standing beside Richard, to see if he was alright.
“I have no idea. I thought I had to use my position to get it settled but apparently the officer have found the case to be baseless and had the case close with the report stating that they found Mr. Simon not guilty.” He said while staring off towards a point. Well being the mayor he could almost anything.
I looked towards the way he was staring to see Mr. Scott talk to the officer grimly. Noticing that we were looking at him he turned towards us with his cold eyes before he got into the car and asked Mark to drive away.
