“So when should we be expecting a little Ana or Alpha Theo,” Charlotte says as we walk around the store looking at clothes. We are at the mall shopping. Theo gave me his black card again, and I don’t plan to waste his money this time around. It feels so nice with how things are great between us.
“Not anytime soon,” I say as I check a shirt on the rack. I put it back after I realized it was ugly.
“Why I thought things were good between the both of you now,” Chloe says,
“Things are wonderful between us, but Theo and I decided to wait till I am a little older. We want to avoid getting me pregnant while I am still going to school” This is what we have been telling everyone who asks us why we haven’t completed the mating process. The part about it been because of school is something I added on my own. I want the lie to be more believable.
“Alpha allowed you to go back to school,” Chloe says, surprised.
“Yes, he did” Theo didn’t agree for me to go back to school. He just said it was nice I wanted to pursue a career as a reporter. I would have to ask him if I could go back so my lie wouldn’t blow up in my face.
“Wow, I am surprised. I thought he wouldn’t want you to go back to school because a lot of male humans would be around you all day.”
“He didn’t, but I reminded him that just because I will come home smelling like a lot of male humans does not mean I did anything with them.”
“I am sure it must have taken a lot of convincing,” Charlotte says
“You can bet” I hope Theo agrees for me to go back to school. It will really be a problem if he does not.
We spend the rest of the day shopping and call it quits once it starts to get dark outside.
I walk into the house with a lot of shopping bags in my hands.
“Theo,” I shout his name from the front of the stairways.
“What’s wrong?” Theo asks as he runs down the stairs.
“Nothing, I just needed help with my bags,” I say, smiling
“You shouted my name just because of that,” Theo asks while looking at me with disbelieve in his eyes.
“They are heavy,” I say, throwing the shopping bags into his hands
“You didn’t need to shout my name for that.”
“I did; they were draining my energy.”
“I don’t know what to say to you right now,” Theo says, shaking his head at me.
“Don’t say anything, and just help me with my bags upstairs.”
“I will, and how was shopping with Charlotte and Chloe,” Theo asks, walking up the stairs.
“It was nice, but we have a little problem.”
“What’s wrong?”
“They asked why we haven’t mated?”
“How is that a problem? We already came up with a lie to tell everyone.”
“I told them the lie, but I added something to it,” I say, opening our room door.
“What,” Theo asks, walking in after me.
“I told them you didn’t want me walking around school pregnant.”
“Oh,”
“Yes, and I know you won’t want me around a lot of male humans who don’t understand that they should not get too close to me, but we don’t have a choice right now.”
“Hmm,” Theo says, sitting down on the edge of our bed after dropping my shopping bags on the floor.
“Please, allow me to go back to school. I promise to try and stay away from male humans as much as I can so I won’t come home smelling like them” I know because we haven’t mated. It’s easy for his wolf to get angry if he smells a male on me. I actually plan to keep my promise too.
“You will shower every day after school before coming close to me.”
“I will”
“If it won’t be too much for you then, you can go back to school.”
“Thank you, thank you, thank you so much,” I say, smiling. I throw my arms around him. This causes us to fall to the bed, but I don’t stop hugging him.
“You’re welcome,” Theo says, smiling back at me.
I seal his lips with mine. I feel Theo’s hands go around my waist. He lifts me off the bed so I can straddle him. In the process, we break from our kiss. I look at his eyes, and I can see the lust in them. I am sure my eyes have the same look. He brings his lips to the nape of my neck and starts leaving kisses all around my shoulders. His hands go into my shirt and cup my breast as his lips travel back to my mouth.
“Theo,” I say, with his lips against mine.
“Yes, mate,” Theo says, breathless as he releases my lips from his.
“What if we mate and you don’t mark me” I have been thinking of this for a while now. His last mate died because he marked her, so as long as he does not mark me, we can mate.
“That’s too risky. The minute I am inside you, Xavier would take control and mark Eva the second I release my seed into you,”
“What if you hold him back?”
“That would be very difficult. Your arousal would be heavy in the air, and it would be because of what I am doing to you. Xavier will kill me if I don’t let him mark you when that happens.”
“I know, but I feel we should try and see. If it’s about to get out of hand, we will stop”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“It’s not the best idea, but at least I would smell like you even though I won’t bear your mark.”
“Anastasia,” Theo says, cupping my face in his palms
“Yes,” I say, locking eyes with my mate. He looks worried about something
“Are we having this discussion because you are horny, or is there another reason?”
“What other reason could there be?” I ask, removing my eyes away from his. I make sure to avoid eye contact with him. I don’t understand how Theo catches on every time.
“The whisper that I don’t want you is why I haven’t mated with you or marked you.”
“You heard them,” I say, surprised he has heard the gossip the people around have been making about me.
“I am the werewolf king. I hear everything. Is the gossip making you feel the need to mate with me even though you know it’s risky?”
“You could say that,” I say, playing with my fingers. I feel embarrassed that I allowed the gossip to get to me and almost made my mate sleep with me even though it could kill me to ease the people’s minds.
“Is it bothering you that much?” Theo says, cupping my face in his hands. He makes me lock eyes with him, but I drop my eyes and nod my head at him.
“I am so sorry, Anastasia. I never meant to put you in such a situation,” Theo says, pulling me into a hug as I start to cry.
“I know,” I say, into his chest with tears streaming down my face. The things they say why Theo hasn’t marked me hurts no matter how much I want to tell myself I should not listen to them.
“I promise to find a way to break the curse and put you out of your misery, my mate.”
