CHAPTER 36

Book:Prisoner To My Mate Published:2024-6-3

I am in the living room watching TV when I hear the front door open and close. Theo must be back from work. I quickly switch off the TV and run to the front door to meet him.
“Hi honey, welcome home,” I say, walking up to Theo.
“How was your day, my beautiful Mate?” Theo says, walking up the stairs with me beside him.
“It was good. How long do you want to rest before we go?”
“Go where?” Theo asks as we walk into our bedroom.
“Don’t tell me you forgot,” I say, looking at Theo with disbelieve. I can’t believe he forgot we are supposed to go out on a date today. After our first date, Theo and I decided to go on more dates. It was nice last time, so we decided to do it again. Today’s date is not a serious one. We are just going to the movies.
“I am sorry I forgot. We can go after I rest for two hours if you don’t mind.”
“It’s fine, I don’t mind.” We are not going on a serious date because Theo went to work today. He works almost every day, so it’s hard to find time to spend with him.
“Thank you”
Two hours later, Theo and I head to the movie theatre.
“Which movie would you like to watch,” Theo asks as he scrolls through his phone. He has not dropped his phone down since we arrived at the movie theatre. It’s so unlike him. It’s making me worried that something might be wrong.
“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.”
“Okay,” Theo says, walking towards where he thinks the stand to pay is.
“Not that way, this way,” I say, redirecting his body.
“Thank you,” He says and finally removes his attention away from his phone, so he can pay for our movie.
“You’re welcome. Is something wrong, Theo?”
“No, nothing is wrong. Why would you ask that?”
“You have been using your phone a lot more than usual.”
“Oh, I am so sorry about that.”
“What is keeping you busy on your phone?”
“The general manager for my company quit this week. I have to handle all the things related to my personal business for a while before I can find a replacement.”
“Why didn’t you tell me about it? We would have stayed at home.” I can bet things are tough for him right now. I doubt it’s easy for him to handle his business and rule the werewolf kingdom.
“You have been looking forward to our date tonight. I could not disappoint you by telling you I had to work. The reason we go on dates is because I work a lot. I couldn’t do that to you.”
“Theo,” I feel my heart swell for the werewolf in front of me. He cares about me so much.
“Yes, mate,” He says, smiling.
“Thank you so much for trying to make me happy, but you forgot something.”
“What”
“It would be boring during our date if you use your phone the whole time we are watching the movie. I might want to comment on a scene we just watched, but you won’t have seen it because you would be using your phone. Let’s just go home. We can go out on a date once you find a replacement.”
“Oh,” Theo says, realizing he didn’t think of that.
“Yes”
“We are here, and I have already bought the tickets. I will put my phone away, and we will try to make the best of tonight.”
“That’s not a bad idea.”
“I know. Come, let’s go get popcorn before our movie starts,” Theo says, walking us to the popcorn stand.
As the movie ends and the cast names start to show. I turn to Theo to ask him if he enjoyed the film, but I can’t. Theo is passed out in his seat. He must be exhausted from handling his company and ruling the werewolf kingdom. I wish there was something I could do to help. I don’t know anything about running a company, and Theo’s company is not a small one that I would say I could learn how to handle it in a few months. Theo owns about a thousand hotels in the world. It would take a few years for me to learn how to handle such a big company. I could help him with ruling the werewolf kingdom. That seems a little easier than helping him with his company. I will speak to him about it. I don’t like seeing him so stressed. I wake him up so we can go home.
I walk out of my school building with a smile on my face. I just finished registering for classes. I added a few business courses. I plan to learn them so I can help Theo run his company. I know he can find another general manager anytime soon, but the person can still quit again. I want to ask him to transfer his hotel business affairs to me once I have learned how to handle it. I will be a permanent solution for him.
It’s been a few weeks since I went back to school. School is stressful. I have a lot of early morning classes. I don’t know why I even wanted to go back there. I am in the kitchen trying to finish my breakfast as quickly as possible, so I won’t be late for my morning class today.
“Good morning,” Theo says, walking into the kitchen. I nod at him because my mouth is full with cereal. “Eat slowly. You will choke on your food.”
“I can’t. I will be late.”
“Don’t worry, I already handled that”
“You handled what?”
“I handled your lateness problem.”
“How you asked time to wait for me,” I say sarcastically. I look at him, wondering if he smoked crack this morning.
“I can’t do that, and you know that. I did something else to make sure you are never late again.”
“What,” I ask, curious to know how he solved my lateness problem.
“Why don’t we go outside?”
“Okay,” I say and put my plate in the sink after I drink the last drop of milk in the bowl.
We walk outside together, and the scream that escapes my lips is filled with joy once I see what is in front of me.
“I can’t believe it,” I say, smiling. I run to the car parked outside our house. I touch it, and it’s real. “You bought me a car.”
“Yes, I did, and I hope you like the one I got”
“I love it. It’s like you knew I always wanted a Mercedes,” I say, as I continue to admire the beautiful blue G-class Mercedes Benz my mate bought for me.
“I am happy you like it. Here are the keys,” He says and puts the keys in my hand.
“Thank you,” I say and kiss him.
“You’re welcome,” Theo says once I release his lips from mine
