However, Nora didn’t want to go to the hospital. She held the blue pill that she just found and said, “I’ll take some medicine, and I would be fine.”
She went back to her room in a daze and covered herself under the blanket after taking the medicine.
Later at night, Nora drifted into a light sleep. She kept sweating all over and was like coming out of the water. Kingsley didn’t fall asleep at all.
His marriage with Nora was just a deal. He was urged to marry by his mother, and he slept with Nora by accident. She wanted to marry him regardless of money.
Asking Kingsley for money could only gain her short-term benefit, but if they were married, she could have much more in the long-term. He understood the reason but still agreed to marry her, not only because his mother liked her, but also because he wanted to see what kind of tricks she was trying to play.
Nora coughed painfully in the next room. He immediately got up from the bed and walked out with his jacket on.
Nora felt that someone came into her room, and then a cold hand touched her cheek, with the man’s voice rang out, “Let’s go to the hospital.”
“No…” Her mouth was covered by Kingsley’s hand. Nora opened her eyes to look at the man, who interrupted her coldly, “Don’t tell me that you don’t want to go to the hospital. It’s your responsibility to take care of yourself, not others’!”
“I…”
Kingsley said impatiently, “I will throw you out if you keep making trouble.”
She felt that she was wronged again, “I have a headache and can’t get out of the bed.”
Suddenly, she was lifted up from her bed by two powerful arms. It seemed to be Kingsley that was holding her in his arms.
Nora thought she was dreaming, so she stretched her arms out, hugging Kingsley’s waist tightly in case he let go and the dream ended.
This was wonderful. It was uncommon to see the gentle version of Kingsley, but unfortunately this was only in her dreams.
When she woke up again, Nora did not realize that she was in the hospital until she saw the snow-white wall around her. She looked at the nurse who was changing her infusion bag, and asked raucously, “How did I get here?”
“Oh, your husband brought you here last night! Don’t you remember that?”
Kingsley?
It was really him last night?
“Where is he?”
The nurse looked awkward.
Nora already knew the answer: he probably had some meetings to attend. He was busy all the time every day. She understood her situation and expected nothing more.
The doctor put her on a drip. In the afternoon, her temperature already went down to normal. She texted Kingsley to remind him to go to his mother’s on Friday. She held the phone in her hands, wondering if she should send another message to talk about her illness, and maybe ask him to visit her.
She quickly gave up the idea. If Kingsley came, he would most likely just sneer at her. Why would she want to get herself humiliated?
Nora took a look at the time. It was still early, so she lay on the bed and started to watch TV.
The TV channel was reporting local news. The broadcaster’s speaking in a sweet tone, “Today, the Innovation and Technology Park located at the west of the city is officially completed. Mayor Albert Jones also visits the site.”
Mayor Albert Jones in front of the camera looked placid and easy-going, with the temperament of an experienced government officer.
Suddenly Ringo Jones’ face came across her mind, and she felt extremely sad.
Albert Jones was Ringo Jones’s father. Ringo was the posterity of a government official, but he was a humble and modest person, just like an ordinary citizen.
One day in their senior year of high school, Nora and Ringo were walking on the street while eating some oden. They were both enjoying their time all the way until a car stopped in front of them. The moment when the car window was rolled down and Ringo saw his father’s face, he was petrified and swallowed an entire fish ball into his throat.
It wasn’t until some time later that Nora found out the identity of Ringo—the mayor’s son, with a grandpa that was a powerful leader in the central government.
Nora’s sadness came across as she recalled the past. She didn’t have many friends, and Ringo was a good friend that she could get along with, but unfortunately…
The door of the ward was opened at this moment, while the news was still broadcasting Mayor Jones on the TV.
Kingsley saw the woman sitting on the bed with sadness in her eyes. Suddenly, an anger that came from nowhere arose in his heart.
