Nora was stunned for a while, and then nodded with confusion, “Yes?”
She would definitely fail to pass the interview, and she didn’t want to have anything to do with Caesar, so she’d better give up.
“Okay, then go to my mom’s place with me this weekend, she wants to see you.”
While Kingsley was aboard, Nora would also visit his mother when she was free. She had a honey mouth that could make his mother happy every time they were together. This was also the reason why their marriage could be successful. But every time Kingsley’s mother would ask her some embarrassing questions, especially when Kingsley was not there. It was hard for her to deal with his mother alone.
“Sure.” Nora nodded again, “Anything I need to prepare?”
“No!” Kingsley looked at her and said calmly, “I guess I don’t need to tell you what should be said and what should not be said!”
Of course Nora knew. The fact that Kingsley was seen going on holiday with a female celebrity shouldn’t be told to his mother. They had to pretend to be in love with each other in front of Kingsley’s mother.
But Kingsley’s attitude was so awful that Nora pretended to know nothing, “Do I need to say anything specifically in front of mom?”
Kingsley’s eyes darkened all of a sudden. He stared at her sharply and inquisitively. After a while, he stood up and said, “I’ll come home to pick you up on Friday.” After that, he stopped looking at Nora and went upstairs.
Probably because of the rain, Nora felt dizzy and suffered from a headache before going to bed, but it wasn’t a big deal for her. She slept in the bedroom after turning off the light. Kingsley was still working in the study. His time was calculated with accuracy to the second. Every day, he was as busy as a spinning top.
It was already three in the middle of the night when Nora woke up again. Her throat was dry and painful, as if it was stuffed with cotton. Her nose was congested as well, and her head hurt badly. Without doubt, she had a cold.
She also sweated for a while. Her forehead was boiling-hot. She struggled to get up from the bed. Aunt May must have put the medicine box in the storage room next door.
Nora felt dizzy and she dared not to turn on the light, since it might wake Kingsley up. He never slept well and would be woken up by a little sound. Nora walked through darkness to the first room at the stairway and opened the door. Before the light was even turned on, she heard someone yell out harshly, “Who is there?”
Then the light was on. Kingsley sat up from the bed and looked at the door alertly. When he saw that it was Nora, he lowered his guard, but then was puzzled.
Nora didn’t expect herself to walk into the wrong room while her mind wasn’t clear. She hurriedly explained in a raucous voice, “I have a cold, and I came to look for medicine.”
Though she was suffering from a terrible headache, but her mind was still very clear and she knew that she walked into the wrong place. She apologized hurriedly, “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. I came to the wrong place, just ignore me. It’s fine.” After that, she closed the door and slipped away hurriedly.
Kingsley frowned slightly after hearing her hoarse voice. He got up from the bed and saw the light shining from the storage room. As he moved closer, he saw Nora rummaging through the cabinets in order to find the medicine.
Nora wore a light pajamas and her long black hair hung down loosely. She had been looking for a long time, but still failed to find the medicine. When she raised her eyes and saw the man’s shadow, she was surprised.
Kingsley noticed the redness on her face as he walked closer. She seemed to be suffering from a terrible fever. He didn’t talk much and said directly, “Change your clothes and let’s go to the hospital.”
As soon as she heard the word hospital, Nora felt sick badly, and she shrank subconsciously while refusing him, “I will take the medicine, but I will not go to the hospital.”
Kingsley frowned.
Nora’s headache was killing her, but she didn’t like the hospital at all, and she murmured, “I will just take medicine. It’s fine.”
Kingsley put his hand on her forehead, and spoke in a bad manner, “Your temperature is too high. If you don’t go to the hospital, you will soon go to heaven.”
The man’s palm was cool, making Nora’s body stiffen.
