Chapter 57
She turned her head to look at Mark, only to find that he was sitting there with a calm face.
It looked like he hadn’t been affected by the words that she had just uttered.
Lily felt despair consume her. Did this man care about her? Was the love he had been showering her with over the last few weeks all an act?
“Oh, my God! So she is having an affair? This is big news!” Everyone in the house was dumbfounded.
They never expected to come across such juicy news at this so-called pregnancy reveal party. The female lead was pregnant, but the child did not belong to the male lead. Everybody was shocked at the revelation.
It was the female lead who revealed it herself!
Melissa and Marcela came down the stairs at lightning speed.
“My dear, what are you talking about?” Marcela was the first to open her mouth and ask lily, who was feebly leaning her body in Kelly’s embrace.
“It is just as you heard auntie, the child in Lily’s belly is mine,” Kelly said. He did not shy away nor was he afraid this will reflect badly on his reputation.
He had already made up his mind that today, he must leave with this woman. There is no way he would accept her to heartbreak him and walk away unscathed.
“Who are you?” Marcela asked coldly.
“Hi auntie, I am Kelly Leonard Junior, alpha of Ash band pack.” Kelly introduced himself.
“What relationship do you have with my daughter-in-law?” Marcela asked.
“It is just as you see auntie. There is nothing to hide.”
As they were talking, Jay was busy sending off the guests. This was now a private family matter, it won’t look good when it will be aired in front of many people.
Mark on the other hand was sitting on the chair with his head lowered. He seemed to be deep in thought but no one knew that his mind was completely blank at the moment.
After all the guests had left, the living room that has been filled to the brim was now empty. The atmosphere was heavy and tense. Mark’s and Lily’s fathers have also been called to the living room.
“Lily, how could you do something like that to Mark, don’t you know how much he loves you?” Marcela asked. Looking at her depressed son, her heart ached deeply.
“Haha, love? Mom, who gave you the idea that Mark loves me?” Lily laughed after hearing Marcela. Now that she has been exposed, she decided to drop her pitiful act and face the bullet. She knew that no matter how much she cried, the atmosphere won’t turn in her favor.
“Doesn’t he love you?” Marcela asked in disbelief. Although she knew that her son had changed, and had been cold some time back, he had started to warm up after learning that his wife was pregnant!
Who would have thought that he was taking care of someone’s else child?
“If did love me just for a bit, I wouldn’t have done something like that! Your son has been so-called to me. He refused to even share the bed with us and could sometime even spend the nights in the study room. I was so lonely, what did you expect me to do?” Lily asked. She had already calmed down and she was not crying anymore.
“What!” The parents from both sides were shocked. They did not pay much attention to Mark and Lily after Mark marked her because they knew that he loved her. Although they knew that they were not real mates, they were not worried about it because they did not live in ancient times and believed that love can conquer everything.
A lot of power packs had their young alphas and betas marry from the packs of the same standard. They did not care whether the involved parties were mates or not, as long as there were mutual benefits.
They had thought that Mark and Lily loved each other. Neither of them had found their mate thus their parents knew that they were meant for each other which is why they decided that the two get married.
Although Melissa and her husband were only betas, they were powerful enough that Marcela and her husband saw that lily was befitting of their son’s status.
But now……
“Son, is that true? Have you been neglecting your luna?” Marcela turned to her son and asked. She did dare jump to conclusions thus she asked in a gentle voice.
“Doesn’t she know why?” Mark raised his head and looked at Lily with an icy gaze. It made her heart tremble and she felt like all her secrets have been exposed in front of him.
“Know what? What is going on?” Marcela asked in confusion. While she was trying to understand her son’s words, Melissa and Lily shared a glance, fear evident in their eyes of each other.
But there was no way lily was going to allow herself to take the blame even if she knew she was at fault.
“Tell them, Mark, why did you neglect your wife? Was it because you could not let go of that little bitch!” Lily said.
“Call her that again and you will the consequences of all the crimes you have committed!” Mark said coldly, making Lily shut her mouth.
She could not utter a single word. ‘Did Mark know everything? No way! If he knew, there was no way he could have kelp mum until now.’ Lily thought,
“I never knew that you were such a person lily! You took advantage of your position to bully the weak, how did you expect me to treat you after knowing the truth? Not only that, you dared to order people to throw Maya into the lake and let her be eaten by sharks, how could you?”
Lily trembled at his words. So he knew everything after all!
“How could you do all those things and still maintain a straight face? Besides, you dared to go and sleep with someone else right under my nose. You thought that I didn’t know?”
“Lily, although we are not mates made for each other by the moon goddess, we are still bonded!”
“I knew that you were seeing someone else, but do you know why I did not bother to ask you or even investigate who the man is? Because I still had some respect for you! Although you did all those things, I was willing to turn a blind eye! But going to be touched by some filthy hands, and then you come back, expecting me to touch you again! Hah, Lily, I am not that deprived.” Mark said.
Everyone was shocked at the revelation. So Mark knew that lily was cheating but he chose to stay quiet!
“I….” Lily had nothing to say. Her sharp tongue could not even utter a single word.
“Even if I confronted you, I knew you would have denied everything, so why bother?”
“But I am disappointed in you! Do you know why I never confronted you about your infidelity? Anyway, that is not the main point, the main point is that I expected it to be someone with some class, someone more handsome and accompanying than me….. but this….” Mark looked Kelly up and down, not even trying to hide the disdain in his eyes.
Kelly was so angry for being looked down upon that he almost flipped out. But he managed to control himself right on time.
“Then why have you been taking care of me?” Lily asked. He had had so gentle and she started to have the illusions that he still loved her.
“It is my responsibility to take care of you, right? Did you want me to neglect you so that people may say how irresponsible I am? Although I knew the baby was not mine, seeing how our parents were excited at the thought of having a grandchild, how could I shatter their fantasies?”
“But your interaction with Kelly today at the entrance, made me realize that I have been stupid all along!”
“Mark, you are despicable!” Lily said.
“Me, despicable?” Mark said as he pointed at himself. He felt like laughing out loud but he did not have the energy to!
“Did I cheat on you? Did I carry someone’s else child? Did I order someone to be stripped for five years and even thrown into the lake?”
“After everything that you did to Maya, you don’t even deserve to breathe the same air as us.”
“You guys can continue to have fun. But your two, don’t be too smug just yet. You never know when karma will hit your door!” Mark pointed at Kelly and lily and said in a cold voice. His face was devoid of any emotions.
“Mom, Dad, I am sorry that I could not keep my promise of giving you a grandson. This is the marriage you insisted on. Even after knowing that I had someone in my heart, you still insisted that I marry her. Your wish was granted so you can collect your spoils of War!” Mark said. He did not wait for any more to reply and immediately left the living room.
It was only after a long time that the remaining people came back to their senses.
