Chapter 56
“Darling, you look gorgeous tonight. Why do I have a feeling, yeah you will look even more dazzling without that dress on?” Kelly said in her ear. His voice was seductive but Lily felt cold chills travel down her spine.
“Bastard, what do you think you are doing? Do you think this is a place to joke?” Look took a step back to put some distance between them and asked in a cold voice.
“But darling, who said that I am joking? My everyone word comes from the bottom of my heart.” Kelly said. He moved and was about to touch her waist, which made Lily’s face turn white from the fright.
“What are you guys doing?” A voice came from behind Lily which startled her so much. If not for Mark’s quick reflexes, she might have bumped into the wall.
“Alpha Mark, nice to finally meet you.” Kelly put on a befitting smile and stretched out his hand naturally like there was nothing a miss.
“Nice to meet you….”
“Alpha Kelly, Ash band pack!” Kelly cut off Mark before he could finish his sentence.
“I know who you are!” Mark said. His face was blank and he did not reveal any expression. Lily fidgeted uneasily in Mark’s arms. She was not sure if Mark had seen anything between her exchange with Kelly earlier.
“It is my honor!” Kelly said. His smile had broadened and even his demure was polite.
“You have a beautiful luna!” He commented and even winked at Lily.
“Thank you. Please, you are welcome inside.” Mark ushered him. He felt that there was some ambiguity in his gaze when he looked at Lily but he did not dwell on the matter too much.
Lily heaved a sigh of relief when she saw Kelly join the others. If he had continued to tease her earlier, she didn’t know what she would have done.
How she wished to just kill him and make him disappear from the face of the earth!
Soon, all the guests had arrived and the party was set to begin. Since it was a party for the younger generation, the elder people like Lily’s and Mark’s parents just made a guest appearance before they left.
Although Melissa and Marcela were worried about Lily, Mark assured them that he will take good care of her, thus they went to rest with peace of mind.
The party continued on a high note but at some point, the conversation took a sharp turn and some people started to point fingers at Lily.
“I can’t imagine such a good lady like her manages to fool even someone as smart as Mark!” Someone said, pointing his finger at Lily who was blushing while standing beside Mark. Someone seemed to be teasing her as she looked down shyly.
“What do you mean?”
“She is a wh*re!”
“Bro, what are you trying to say? They appear so loving together, how could you say something like that? Do you dare say it right in Mark’s face?”
“What do you little ignorant imps know! I even don’t know how Mark got fooled by her!”
“But even if she is a wh\*re, or whatever, she is pregnant for the man she loves. Who in this world hasn’t had a fling or two!” The person who replied was a woman. She was also an alpha and she looked like she was on good terms with Lily thus she did not hesitate to defend her.
“Heh, wait until her pure and innocent mask is ripped off then you will know how dangerous is it to have a ‘fling or two’ when you are already married.” The man said with a sneer before he left.
His mission for tonight was over and now what was remaining was to sit and watch the show unfold.
As expected, words like Lily was sl\*t and even the child she was carrying was not Mark’s started to spread among the guests.
Even was dumbfounded when they had the news and they started pointing fingers at Lily.
“I wonder how thick her skin is. How could she do something like that? Then why did they organize the party, to show off how good they are at playing their partners!”
Soon, the words reached both Lily and Mark. Lily’s body turned cold all of a sudden when she heard the discussion around her.
Mark’s expression did not change much when he heard people talking, but when he turned and looked at Lily, a tinge of coldness flashed across his eyes briefly.
“Honey, what are these people talking about?” Although he sensed that something was going on, he did not lose his temper and asked gently.
“Babe, I don’t know what they are talking about,” Lily said. Her face was pale and she almost stammered while saying those words.
“Mmmh, maybe they are just talking!” Mark said.
Lily was not listening to him, her gaze seemed to be searching for someone in the crowd. Mark slowly followed her line of sight and saw her lock eyes with Kelly.
Kelly smirked. Although it was directed at Lily, Mark felt that the smirk was filled with mockery and arrogance. He felt that Kelly was purposely challenging him.
‘What was the relationship between these two?’ Mark thought. Everyone was discussing the room had suddenly turned very. Everyone had stopped drinking and partying and they were now looking at Mark and Lily.
Lily felt ill at their gazes and almost wanted to crawl under the ground.
‘Who the hell is messing with me?’ Lily thought. Her mind was confused and all kinds of thoughts were jumping into it.
‘No, the cat can’t be let outside the bag! Mark must not find out the truth or she will be done for!’
‘What to do! Lily think, think quick of how you are going to save yourself!’
“Save yourself from what?” A cold voice came through her mind. The startled Lily almost jumped up from the fright.
“Babe!”
“What are you hiding from me? You know that there has never been a smoke without fire, so don’t even think about lying to me!” Mark said.
“What are you talking about?” Lily decided to feign ignorance. They were just talking nonsense. They at least needed concrete evidence to accuse her of something like that.
“Don’t play dumb with me! Do you think that all these people very bored that they could just start a rumor? Do want to tell me that someone is framing you because they don’t wish you any good?”
Lily was speechless. Seemed like there was no way she was getting herself out of this mess.
She now only has two options, to faint or to use the excuse that her stomach was hurting to get out of this place, but would someone allow her to play her petty tricks?
She was on the verge of breaking down and almost cursed the day she met that bastard. It seemed his coming was not entirely out of friendship. He was here to mess with her.
“Hurts! Ouch! My stomach hearts.” Suddenly Lily started to cry as she bent down, clutching her stomach like her stomach was really hurting.
“Babe….. help!” Lily said, turning to look at Mark with a pained expression. Mark looked at her coldly without offering a helping. He has never known that she was such a good actress.
“Darling, are you alright!” It was at this moment that she had a voice that she wished she could choke the owner to death.
Lily abruptly stood up in an upright posture, forgetting about the pain in her stomach. She looked at Kelly and raised her hand to slap him. But before her hand could land, it was held in a firm grip.
“So all this was your plan, right? To expose me in front of all the guests and turn me into a disgrace, right?” Lily asked.
“I already told you that this child is not yours, why did you have to do this to me?” Lily said as she cried.
Melissa and Marcela, who ascended the stairs, were shocked stiff.
A maid woke them up and told them that Lily was having stomach cramps and was in so much pain that she was crying. They had immediately rushed downstairs without even changing their pajamas, they did not expect to come across something like that!
“What are you talking about? What did I do?” Kelly had an innocent expression, looking like he had been wrongly accused.
“Don’t pretend with me! If not you, how could these people have known that the child I am carrying is not Mark’s?” Lily said. Her emotions were out of control and her perfect makeup now looked distorted.
“Haven’t you said it yourself just now!” Kelly said in a calm voice.
His words woke Lily up from her stupor. Recalling what she has just said in a fit of rage, she hastily covered her mouth.
