Chapter 55
Kelly returned to his pack but he did not feel as bad as he thought he would feel. Instead, he placed all his energy on his training.
Although he behaved like he did not care about the coming battle between the blue blood pack leader and himself, he did not take it lightly.
He was only acting so that he could lower everyone’s expectations of him so that when the time comes, he will shock them with his performance.
He wanted the enemy to lower his guard and relax as much as he could, thinking that he, Kelly was a good-for-nothing spoilt brat. He also did not want to explain anything to anyone. Those who needed to understand will naturally understand.
Days passed by and it was almost the day of the party.
Lily had been feeling relentless about the whole thing. Since kelly left the other day, she has not heard anything from him. She had even sent some messengers to look for him but they had been told that he was in seclusion.
It was also then that lily learned about his challenge with Matthew. She only hoped that he will not cause her trouble. It hadn’t been easy to finally get Mark’s love back, she was not going to lose it easily.
In Mark’s study room…..
Mark was looking at the message sent by Tom. He was stunned that Ashton was still alive and he was even planning to make a comeback.
If Ashton was alive, then….. it meant that Maya was alive too.
But his excitement turned to disappointment after remembering that he had nothing to do with her now.
She had such a powerful mate, would she look at a weakling like him? Although Mark was also considered a powerful leader but compared to Ashton, he could not even lift his head.
He was surprised that Ashton was planning to reunite all the packs. If that happened, won’t he have a lot of chances to meet with Maya?
‘Stop it, Mark! You already have a mate and besides, she is pregnant!’ A voice in his head chided him, making his excited mood cool down.
Ever since he found out that Lily was pregnant, he had put his energy into taking care of her. He was not as repulsed as he had been in the past, but these past few days, that girl has been behaving very weirdly.
He would sometimes find her sitting in a daze and he would call out her name for quite some time before she respond.
Anyway, as long as his baby was healthy, he did not care about anything else.
Mark stopped his thoughts from running wild and concentrated on reading the letter before him. After seeing that their manifesto was great, he responded and even invited them to his party!
….
At the northern mountain……
Ashton looked at the report sent by Tom and nodded his head. He was pleased with how seriously Tom and the rest had taken the assignment.
Everything was progressing as per his plans and it was going well, more than he had anticipated.
“Seems we will be going home very soon,” Ashton said to the three people who were looking at him with eyes full of anticipation.
“How is the response?” Eliphas asked.
“Positive. I never expected that people trusted me this much!” Ashton said. He was touched by how people put their trust in him without even asking questions.
He knew that his reputation was down the drain at the moment and he had thought that it will take at least months for people to get convinced, but looking a the report in his hands, he felt like crying.
“You are a true alpha. Your merits outweigh your demerits. Not everyone is blind as not to see the greatness in you. Those who want to fool around like Kelly and Matthew, let them. You know you can’t save everyone even if you had the power. Some people will still choose the road to feel even if the one leading to heaven is right before their eyes.” Eliphas said, sounding like a wise old man who had lived for a thousand years.
“It is all thanks to you guys. If not for your encouragement, I wouldn’t have had the courage to stand again. I feel like I am the most blessed person in this vast world.”
“Theo, how many people have you gathered by now?” Ashton asked. He did not want a big pack for the time being. He only needed a few trustworthy people who could stand by his side.
“Around fifty and more are still coming,” Theo answered. He was very careful this time around as he did not just welcome everyone.
Until they defeated Kelly and exposed him in front of the whole world, he did not want to trust anyone.
Those he found were mostly those who had fought together with him and Ashton side by side and some lone wolves who had no packs but were willing to fight.
“Let us make it to one hundred. By then, we will be ready to match back to our land.”
“Yes alpha.”
….
Kelly was still aware that Ashton had survived and he was actually coming back to claim everything was his.
Today was the day for the party and he was glad that it happened before his battle challenge with Matthew.
He had received an invite as there was no way he was going to let that opportunity slip by. ‘Did lily think that she will use him and ditch him as she wished? What she was carrying was his blood, how could he let someone else take care of his family?’
Kelly did not care about whether lily would hate him or not, not he was not going to allow her to trample on him.
He had put so much effort into pleasing her, but in the end, she wanted to give him the shorter end of the stick. Hah, she would have anticipated what was about to happen next.
Kelly made his way to the wind winders pack. He knew that tonight would be exciting and he could not wait.
“Do you want to join in some fun?” Maya asked Ashton as she leaned on his sturdy chest.
“Where?” Ashton asked with a raised eyebrow. That was the look that always make Maya’s knees go weak. She looked away with so much difficulty before she continued to talk.
“Wind winders pack!”
“You want to join the party? Aren’t you afraid that you will be jealous of them?” Ashton asked. He was teasing her because he was confident that Maya would never be jealous of Mark and that harebrain mate of his.
“Please what is there to be jealous about? I was stupid enough not to notice that they were perfect for each other and even insisted on breaking them up!”
“I am glad that they ended up together!” Maya said.
“Are you sure that they are perfect for each other?” Ashton asked. The way this little girl dissed people was unique.
“Of course. What do you think?” Maya asked with a cunning look in her eyes.
Seeing that, Ashton knew that she was digging a trap for him. He did not answer but lowered his head to kiss her on the forehead.
“Hey, can you not be so….”
“So what?”
“We were talking about a serious matter!” Maya pouted her pinky lips.
“Yes, darling. They are perfect for each other. The moon goddess should be praised for her perfect creation.” Ashton said with a serious face prompting Maya to laugh out loud.
“Theo went to represent us. Don’t worry. Our blessings would surely reach them!”
“I wasn’t talking about that!” Maya rolled her eyes at him. Of course, she knew that Theo had gone, but that was not the main point.
“I have realized that you don’t like gossip!”
“Every minute with you is very precious to me. Why would I want to listen to gossip? All I want to do to you is…..” and with that, Maya was kissed until her eyes lost focus.
…..
At the wind winders pack….
The guests were streaming in and it was very lively. Lily was donning a long one-shoulder dress. It actuated her figure well and her perfectly dolled-up face looked very stunning.
She was welcoming guests with a big smile on her face. She was in a very good mood as she laughed with the guests.
Her friends were envious of her and those who were already married wished that they could get pregnant right there.
As Lily was continuing to welcome the guests, someone came that made her face drain all color. It was a good thing that the room was dimly lit so no one noticed her expression.
And calmed down rather quickly after scheming through the room. There were a lot of people here and there was no way Kelly would mess with her.
But what he said next made her take a few steps back and almost bumped into a wall…
