Chapter 54
Lily’s mind traveled on the day she fainted in her room……
She had gone to talk to Mark about something when she heard the conversation between him and his beta Jay outside the study room. She had been extremely shocked. She went to her room and threw a tantrum but she had fainted afterward due to exhaustion and when she woke up, she thought that she might have been dreaming.
Because the first person she saw after waking up was Mark by her bedside tending to her tenderly. So, the more she thought about it, the more she felt that what she heard was all in her dreams. It was only a nightmare and she was scaring herself for nothing.
If it was true that Maya was mated to Ashton, wouldn’t she have come to show off already? Lily was sure that Maya would have gotten Ashton to take revenge on her as soon as possible.
She had consoled herself by saying that it was just a dream, a nightmare…
But the words that Kelly has uttered just now.
“Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” Lily lost control of her emotions and almost screamed out loud.
“You never asked,” Kelly said. He had noticed that every time he mentioned his brother, this woman would appear overly excited. He could not understand why everyone was charmed by Ashton.
“Besides, I thought that my brother was only messing around. How else could I have known that he was serious to the extent of going against his principles?” said Kelly. He was not the only one but everyone in the ash band pack had thought that Ashton was only messing around. Who would have thought that……?
And at that time, he hadn’t known that his brother’s little mate might be related to this woman.
“Where are they now?” Lily asked. Her delusional mind was shattered into pieces and her heart trembled with fear at the possibility that something terrible might happen and foil her plans.
So, that day…… the conversation between Mark and Jay… was not a dream. It is true that Maya is alive and mated to the legendary alpha Ashton! She is also a luna, and of a powerful pack!
“Jesus! What did I do?” Lily almost shoved her head into the wall.
‘Not only did that bitch not die, but she was saved by the one and only……! No Lily, you cannot fret. Although she was saved by the powerful alpha, based on the rumors that Ashton is a fugitive and he might already be dead because he was injured pretty badly, could she have died together with him?’ Lily almost lost her mind just thinking about it.
Even if they are dead, she had died in the arms of alpha Ashton, to Lily, that was an honor that she would never achieve in her lifetime. How good could her luck get? Instead of destroying her, she had pushed her somewhere better, and to a better person.
“Calm down Lily.” Kelly was exasperated. He has never dealt with a crying woman and he did not know how to console her.
“Where are they? Ashton and that…. that bitch?” Lily asked. Her voice was low and hoarse. She was probably trying to get her emotions in check.
“Maybe dead, maybe not!” Kelly said with some hatred in his voice. He hoped that that damned witch was dead, or else…!
He hated her more than he hated his brother. Even with the woman he loved right beside him, he still did not feel anything. He felt his body was like a block of wood with no feelings.
“What is the meaning of that?” Lily asked. ‘Maybe dead, maybe not!’ What the hell was that?
“Haven’t you heard the rumors? Ashton killed our patriarch but before we could give him the punishment he deserves, he escaped together with his little witch! But he was injured so I don’t think that he survived.” Kelly said.
“Haven’t you said that you…. you were the one….!” Lily looked at Kelly in disbelief. Was this man doing it on purpose?
“Shhh, my dear, don’t say that out loud!” Kelly placed his index finger on her lips to shut her up. What if someone was eavesdropping? Although this was not his pack, he still had to be wary.
He then gave her a recount of what happened to Ashton and how he managed to defeat him in a hushed voice.
“You are ruthless!” Lily uttered the words through gritted teeth.
“Now you don’t have to worry about your rival coming back to cause trouble. I have already taken over the pack and we can start our life together with our little one.” Kelly said.
“What are you talking about?”
“Darling, didn’t you say that you could settle for nothing less but an alpha? I am ready to take you as my luna, as long as you say yes!” Kelly extended his hand towards Lily as if asking for her hand in marriage.
What he received was Lily slapping his hand away with disdain. “That is not happening. This baby is not yours, and by the way, we should stop seeing each other.”
“What?” Kelly was shocked. That was not the outcome that he envisioned.
“Yes. Mark is now back to me and he cares about me a lot, more than he cared about me in the past. We are even expecting a child together and he has already organized for the ceremony.” Lily said, looking at Kelly like he was a total stranger.
“Lily, are you for real?” Kelly was in disbelief. He felt his belief of the world turn upside down in that instant. He heard his heart shatter into a million pieces and the sound was deafening to his ears.
“Yes. What we had was just a fling! It was nothing serious. We were both lonely and we just needed some warmth from each other.” Lily said nonchalantly like what they shared meant nothing to her.
“Are you for real?” Kelly asked again. His eyes had turned red and his fists were clenched tightly. He seemed to be suppressing his emotions so that the beast inside him does not come out.
“Yes. Since you are now the alpha and your brother is not probably coming back, I am sure you will find yourself your destined mate and you will have a happy union!”
As Kelly was about to say something, they heard footsteps from outside Lily’s room. It seemed that Mark was coming over.
Lily panicked and immediately shot Kelly a look, indicating for him to leave immediately. Although Kelly was displeased, it will be hard to explain if he was caught in Lily’s room, besides, he had other plans in mind.
“When is your pregnancy reveal party?” Kelly asked hurriedly.
“One week from today, leave now or you will be caught!” Lily urged.
“Okay see you soon,” Kelly said with a mysterious smile. He made sure that he gave her a deep kiss before he left.
After Kelly jumped outside the window, Mark pushed the door open. He felt that something did not feel right in the room but seeing that Lily had her eyes closed on the bed and was resting peacefully, he gently walked over, adjusted her blanket, and left the room as quietly as he came.
The moment Lily heard the door close from the outside, she opened her eyes, which were filled with fear and guilt about almost being caught.
She massaged the skin around her heart to ease its heartbeat which was already off the charts.
Since Mark knew that she was pregnant, he had been taking extra care of her. She also did not hear him talk about finding Maya anymore. Seems like he had decided to concentrate on taking care of his family.
Now her only problem was Kelly. She knew that Kelly was not someone to give up easily once he had set his eyes on something.
They had met at a certain party and since he was good-looking and after Lily learned that he was Ashton’s cousin, she immediately got close to him. One thing led to another and before they knew it, they were already deep in the relationship.
It was also during that period of time that Mark had been completely ignoring her. He rarely touched her and would sometime even spend his nights in the study room.
Lily had been lonely and when she met Kelly, she did not hesitate to hook up with him. At first, she was afraid that Mark will find out about them, but after she had done it numerous times without being caught, she became accustomed to it.
She knew that the baby she was caring for was not Mark’s, but if she could use that to tie him to her side, she would not hesitate. Now what she needed was to take care of Kelly and all her problems will be solved.
But the problem was that she did not know where to begin. If it was someone else, she would have just sent her secret guards. But this was Kelly, someone who even managed to do the impossible by defeating Ashton.
The more Lily thought about it, the more she felt her heartthrob.
