chapter 11

The two men didn’t dare to dilly-dally and immediately left.
Although they were older than Ashton, he was still their alpha and no one dared to offend him.
They immediately flew for their lives because they knew that the moment they hesitated, they won’t live to see another day.
After the two people fled, Ashton returned to where he was hiding Maya.
“Did I scare you?” He asked gently.
“No, it’s okay. I just didn’t expect your grandfather to still be persistent about that matter.” Maya said.
“He is stubborn and likes to control everyone, but I won’t let him succeed this time,” Ashton assured.
“I don’t want to be caught between you and your grandfather nor do I want you to be forced to choose a side,” Maya said.
“Don’t worry even if it comes to a day that I have to choose a side, I will choose you without hesitation. No one has the right to separate you from me again.” Ashton said as he kissed Maya on the lips.
“Let’s go. I can feel that we are close. If we travel for another two days, we will be there.”
“Okay.”
Thus Ashton and Maya continued on their journey after the small interlude.
During their two days journey, they did not encounter any major danger.
They just encountered some rogues whom Ashton dealt with ease.
On the other hand, the two men who had previously been sent by Gael were not so lucky.
After Ashton told them to go back, they encountered danger after danger and since they were not as energetic as they were when they were still young, they found it hard to keep up with the attacks from other packs and the rogues they encountered.
They didn’t know what was happening because while they were following Ashton, no one dared to attack them but that was because Ashton was an alpha and he had also laid out his path quite well.
He never did things without thorough preparation and he always considered every little possibility.
“Bro, I don’t think that I can go on like this. Why don’t I stay behind and fight off the rogues while you escape? Make sure nothing happens to you before you reach the old man.” One of the men, who was heavily injured said.
“Come on bro, how can I let you die here? We will fight together and win this fight together.” The other man said.
“Don’t waste another moment and do as I tell you. I’m heavily injured and if I go with you, I will only be dragging you down. Go, you still have a chance to make it.”
Only then did the other man notice that his friend had a huge wound on his belly. He has lost a lot of blood that he could even shift.
Although wolves had self-healing abilities and tend to heal pretty quickly from physical wounds, there was a limit to what their self-healing abilities would do.
His friend had been hurt so badly. Even if took him to the pack healers, they might not be able to help him.
The other person looked at the man whom he has fought with side by side for many years and looked emotional.
Although he didn’t want to see his brother die such an unjust death, there was nothing he could do.
The rogues were approaching and in their world of man-eating men, he could not fight against them.
He even felt that they have alerted the nearby packs and if he was caught, they might think that he was a spy and he couldn’t imagine the consequences.
Thus he immediately ran away, leaving his friend behind. But he promised him that he will avenge him no matter what it took.
Ashton and Maya soon arrived at their destination.
But they could not enter the place because Eliphas has it all surrounded by a magical spell.
Ashton could only use some special method to link with the wizard.
Soon the doors were opened and Ashton and Maya were welcomed in.
They met an old-looking man probably two hundred years old.
He had a head full of long white hair and a long beard that almost reached his knees.
He had a serene aura like he was not someone from the mortal world.
“Uncle Eliphas!” Ashton called out.
“I have been waiting for a long time. I almost gave up because I thought that you will never come.” Eliphas said.
“It took some time to find her but I finally did. I hope it is not too late.” Ashton said.
Eliphas looked Maya up and down and nodded his head.
“She still can be saved,” Eliphas said.
“Then I will have to trouble uncle.”
Maya had been keeping quiet all the while and only standing obediently by Ashton’s said.
She had been seizing up the old man and noticed that she could not feel any kind of aura from him.
The witches and wizards and this eerie aura made people feel afraid, but this man seemed to not have any.
But it might be because he was an expert and knew how to suppress his aura just like Ashton.
He looked like a completely ordinary man but Maya knew that he was not simple.
So this was the infamous wizard that conjured her birth and even cursed her!
She was already twenty but she could not feel the presence of her wolf. She felt nothing like a wolf.
“Child, you have grown,” Eliphas said when he saw that Maya had been eyeing him.
“Sorry I saw uncle Eliphas and felt excited and forgot to do the introduction,” Ashton said as he smacked himself on the head.
“It’s not your fault,” Eliphas said.
“Maya this is wizard Eliphas, the one I have been telling you about. He knows everything about you. From your birth until now. He is going to help you discover yourself and who you truly are.” Ashton said to Maya in a gentle and soothing voice.
“Uncle Eliphas I don’t think that you need me to introduce her to you, right?”
“No need,” Eliphas said.
He has already guessed their relationship given how gently Ashton was treating Maya.
He had his worries and things he needed to clarify first.
He had already been betrayed once and he didn’t want the same mistake to repeat.
“Aren’t you worried?” Eliphas asked Ashton.
“About what?”
“She was born of magic so she might be a witch,” Eliphas said as he pointed at Maya.
“I don’t care uncle Eliphas. As long she gets to stay by my side, no matter what she becomes, I really don’t care.” Ashton said.
It seemed like he was already prepared for the worst.
After the three agreed and because Maya was eager to know the truth about herself, they started the rituals of undoing the curse right away.
…..
Back at the Ash band pack, the man who had escaped for his life finally arrived.
But because the journey had been torturous and he felt exhausted, he fainted the moment he arrived at his pack’s territory.
The patrolling guards stumbled upon him and took him to the healers in the pack.
After he regained his consciousness, he immediately claimed that he wanted to see Gael, alpha’s grandfather.
When Gael learned that he was one of the men he sent to follow Ashton, he immediately requested an audience.
He had regretted his decision the moment those men left.
He knew his grandson too well and once he was set on doing something, no can ever stand in his way.
He would go all out to accomplish what his mind had been set on doing.
He never imagined that his men would make it back alive.
Gael looked at the battered man and frowned.
Although he was self-healing, both he and his wolf had been injured thus it will take some time.
“What happened? Where is Pat?” Gael asked.
“Sorry alpha, we have failed you.” The man immediately lowered his head and kneeled on the ground.
