To help Maya recover her memories and her wolf, Ashton had to look for the witch who cursed her.
Maya was his life savior and he could never let her suffer for even a second.
Although he too had the power to make Maya remember everything, he was too afraid to take the risk.
He did not want Maya to hate him because he didn’t know how she would take the news.
The only thing he could rely on was the person who was involved from the start back then.
Although it has been next to impossible to find him, from the little clues he got, he has finally found the man.
When his mother was pregnant, it was revealed that he will be born under an abnormal moon and that would affect his life and his wolf.
As the future Alpha of the ash band pack, they had to do everything to ensure that he is born and grow up normally.
He was to be born with a rare condition in the wolf bloodline which was a threat to his life.
His mother had an option of ending his life before he was born or they were to find a wolf born of magic and let him be a bath with the mother’s blood.
But in his pack, the last thing his grandfather who was the former alpha wanted to hear was about witches and their magic.
He was so against the idea but because his grandson’s life was on the line he had no choice but to relent.
But he did it under one condition the moment the child was born, she will be killed immediately and her mother will be cast out of the pack.
But Ashton’s mother was a passionate person and she could never sacrifice an innocent life for her gain.
She decided to adopt the child back then behind Gael’s back.
She also made sure that although Maya’s mother was abolished from the pack, she found a safe and nice place for her to start over again.
But when Gael, Ashton’s grandfather found out, he immediately ordered Maya to be killed.
What followed was a bloody scene that Ashton didn’t want to remember.
“Tomorrow I will be taking you to see someone,” Ashton said to Maya.
“Is it something to do with my past?” Maya asked.
“Yes.” Ashton nodded truthfully.
“Hopefully, you will be able to know everything that happened to you and might even be able to awaken your wolf.”
“Why don’t you just tell me? I have been reading a lot about wolves and I know that you can help me know everything that happened to me.” Maya said.
“That won’t help you. I want you to remember everything on your own. Even if I had the ability, I wouldn’t be able to help you. It requires strong magic and the only person who started it can help uplift the curse on you.”
“So I was jinxed? No wonder my life has never been better.” Maya said.
“It will end soon. Don’t worry about it. When that happens, I will officially mark you as my mate and no one will dare lay their eyes on you again.”
“Okay.”
The two people then drifted to sleep.
…
Five days later…..
Ashton and Maya were far away from the ash band pack. They had been traveling for days and were almost at their destination.
“I didn’t know that it was this far,” Maya said as she lay on the back of Ashton’s wolf.
“When grandfather was still the alpha, he had a bad encounter with the witches and wizards and decided to drive all of them from our pack.”
“Even those who nearby did not escape his wrath. Since then, we have been enemies with the witches and whenever it is mentioned to grandfather, he would go berserk.” Ashton said.
“Then aren’t you going behind your grandfather’s rule by taking me to one?” Maya asked.
“I don’t care about anyone or any rules but as long as I can help you get better, I don’t mind going to hell.”
“How could you be so nice?”
“Hold on tight, someone is following us,” Ashton said.
He noticed that someone had been following them for days and according to his observations it might be someone sent by his grandfather.
Ashton started running and after noticing that he had lost the man, he shifted back to his human form and completely concealed his scent.
The person who had been following him cursed angrily.
“Fuck! I lost him again!”
“If you could catch up to him so easily, then he wouldn’t be alpha, Ashton.” His partner said.
“What are we going to say to the old man? It was a strict order to never lose him.”
“We will just be honest. And according to the direction the alpha is heading to, he might be going to find the infamous witch that the old man had abolished from the pack.”
“What to do now? Alpha has been acting strange lately, especially after that good-for-nothing woman appeared. He even claimed that she was his mate, if the old man heard about it, I’m sure he will die from anger.”
“Do you think he hasn’t heard anything by now? He is just acting dumb.”
“Let’s go back. We are very far from our pack and if anything were to happen to us, no one will no.”
Just as the two turned around, they came in contact with Ashton who was giving them an eerie smile.
They were so shocked that they felt like all the energy has left their bodies.
“Al…. pha…” They called out.
They thought that they had been discreet enough. Who would have thought that their alpha had long noticed their presence?
“Don’t you guys know when to give up?” Ashton asked.
“I know it was the old man who asked you to follow me but you could have known that I hate such sneaky behavior the most,” Ashton said in a cold voice.
“The old man was just worried about you. We are here to protect you.”
“When did I ever need your protection? If you can’t even conceal your presence in front of me, how can you protect me?”
“Do you think I’m an idiot?” Ashton asked.
“No Alpha.”
“So what exactly did the old man tell you to do?”
“Your grandfather ordered us to follow you and find out where you are going after he learned that you left with that girl.”
“He was afraid that you might do something against his will and we were to stop you.” One of the men said.
“Go and tell grandfather that I’m going to find Eliphas, I think he is familiar with that name and should know what I’m going there for,” Ashton said.
“Also tell him not to bother about my marriage because I have found my mate. Once I get back to the pack, I will introduce her to him.”
“Alpha.”
“Don’t make me angry and just do as I say.”
“We will leave.”
“Good.”
