Ralph’s pov.
I handed over the design to Snow and he freaked out.
“Ralph!”he yelled.
“What the hell is wrong with you?! Your drawing skill has become so bad that it sucks!”he pierced his long stare right into my soul.
“You promised to give your best on this!”He said, grumpily.
“I’m.. I think I do need a breather to clear off my mind.. but, the sketching isn’t that bad.”I answered.
“It is awful!”he utter brusquely.
“Look, Ralph, whatever that’s going on, wrap it up and dump it inside the bin. I thought getting rejected is suppose to make one feel better and forget about the girl. Why are you being like this?.
Literally all our customers have notice the wrong in our works these days and they are complaining. What if we go bankrupt?, do you want to go back to that single room squeezing your self up on that little bed?”he exclaimed while pointing to the west.
I sighed and shut my eyes.
“If this company closes down right now, we can never return to being poor. We have enough money that could take us to thousands of years. Stop being grouchy. It hurts me.”
“No – fuck this! It’s been a month already, is it that hard to forget about that girl?. You weren’t together for that long so why is it so hard for you to get over her?. Why don’t you play your trick of falling in and out of love?”
My jaw tightened and I squeezed my face up in a dirty frown.
“Snow..”I grinded my teeth together.
“Don’t cross the line.”I kept my punch in my trouser’s pocket, trying to curb my anger especially to shut off the urge to punch him.
Duvall rushed to Snow and swung an arm over his shoulder.
“C’mon, Snow. That’s okay. He is trying to forget about Aysel also, but it won’t be that easy, you know. Don’t make him hate himself the more. Let’s just try to be there for him for now.”he beats Snow’s chest softly.
Snow breathed in and out and he seems to get calm.
I kicked a chair out of my way as i advanced towards the door.
*
Diana’s pov.
I went down for dinner and John’s mom at the table.
“Oh, Di – di baby is here.”she grins at me.
I was forced to laugh.
“Is that suppose to be a nickname?”I drew my chair back.
“Of course.”she winked.
“Let me dish out your food for you.”she stood up.
“It’s been four weeks since John left, right?”she enquired as she grabs a plate and scooped out some food on it.
I hummed while drumming my finger gently on the table.
She placed the plate of lasagna before me and sat back on her chair.
I picked up the spoon and started eating.
“You don’t miss him?”she asked, like a cunning snake and I choked on my food.
I looked at her and she rasies her brows at me.
“He didn’t give you a call during the time, did he?”
“He didn’t.”I drank some water.
“And, you don’t feel.. angry..?”
I snapped my head up at her.
“Why would I?- We have no business with each other.”the words already rolled out of my mouth before I could control my tongue.
She chuckles.
“You guys have a plan, don’t you?. I feel so bad for doing this to you even though you both detested it and that’s the reason I haven’t try anything to bring you close to each other so far.”
Hmph!
I continued eating my food.
“I bet he is lonely back there. He must be missing my food also..”
I rolled my eyes at her words.
“Lonely?, he is a man.”I chewed on my food.
“Huh?, I don’t quite understand.”she drops her spoon.
I pointed mine at her while munching on.
“He could easily get some girls to entertain him.”I looked down on my food.
“Doesn’t that anger you?”she asked in a hush tone.
Hm. She sounds more like the snake who deceived Adam and Eve back then.
I suddenly stopped eating and scoffed.
“That’s right.”I looked at her.
“How dare him be having fun while I’m here?”
Mrs Robinson snapped her fingers at me.
“That’s it, Di..”
“But, who cares.”I cut her off with a shrug.
She sighed loudly.
“You’re really like a rock which cannot be move.”she said inaudibly but I heard that, all credits to my ears.
She stood up after a while and went inside the kitchen.
After I was done eating, I stood up ready to leave when I heard her call my name.
I spun around.
“Can.. can you help me take this to John?”I looked down at her hand and saw a cooler of food in her hand.
“When he is not a highschool boy. He will probably have a maid with him there. Why stress yourself and myself?”I scowled.
“Please… this is my plea and request, as your mother in – law.”
I sighed in exasperation.
“Fine! I will just drop it and leave.”I went to collect the cooler from her begrudgingly.
“Thank you, dear. I will go get the driver and guards ready.”she pecked my left cheek and hightailed away.
I snickered and stared down at the cooler.
He is such a mama’s boy, isn’t he?
**
We got to the gate of the mansion and the driver honked.
Another car which was behind us, with the guards in it.
The small gate opened and two armed men stepped out and marched to our car.
“Who is this?”one of them asked roughly.
“From Mr John’s mother.”the driver responded.
“What do you want, this late?”
“I brought his wife here.”
“His wife?”
I whined down the louvers and peeked out.
They bowed to me.
“We are sorry for keeping you waiting, ma’am. We are just trying to tighten the security. We will let you in now.”they went back inside and the main gate was gradually opened after which the driver drove in, followed by the other car.
We drove past a spring of water and a garden. A pool was on the right side also and soft lights lighted the compound up.
“We are here, ma’am.”the driver pulled off in front of the main entrance.
I climbed out of the car and stood, staring around.
Pft.
It’s no different from Adrian’s home.
My eyes traveled up and they met with a blue pair of his, trapping them in.
I quickly looked away and scoffs.
What the hell?
Why did he have to be up there, at the balcony?
I went inside and took the staircase up and finally located the balcony after some minutes.
He stood there, holding onto the railings.
He only has a black pants on and I stood there, staring at his topless back view.
“what are you doing here?”he questioned, without turning to look at me.
“Huh?… uhh… mom.. your mom insisted I bring this to you tonight.”
He turned his face around and I raised up the cooler in the air.
He glared at it hardly.
“You came here just to give me that?. What a pathetic excuse.”he scoffed and turned his face away.
“It’s okay. I can.. I do not have any intention to stay, so I will leave right away.”I stuttered.
He remained still, not saying anything.
“I.. I will leave.. so just have this. It’s okay, I.. will just go drop it somewhere inside.”I tried to leave.
“Stay.”
“Hmmm?”I threw my head back at him.
Did I heard him correctly?
“It’s past ten o clock so just stay. I can’t afford to see you get hurt.”
“H.. hurt?. Of course not! The guards will be there to guard me so I can’t really get hurt.”I chuckled nervously.
He snorted before turning back to look at me.
“Can’t you just stay?”he asked softly, more like a plea.
I fidgeted with my fingers then pressed my lips together.
“Sure. I will make myself at home then.”I tried to catch up on my breath.
“I didn’t asked you to do that.”
“But, you just told me to stay..”
“I didn’t said you should make yourself at home. I just told you to stay.”
I sent my gaze to the floor and interlocked my fingers together.
“I was joking.”he suddenly said.
I looked up to meet his gaze.
A small smile was lingering on his lips.
I nodded slowly and made to turn away but he grabbed my hand and pulled me to himself.
“Thanks for coming.”
