At that time, only her voice resounded in this quiet attic. Estelle wanted to move Victor with her emotions and persuade him with her analysis, trying everything she could to put some sense into him. Then she asked, “Which one do you choose, the property or the joy that can last only one moment?” Staring at him with pure hatred in her eyes, Estelle really wanted to go down with him if she could.
Victor felt more complacent when seeing that Estelle hated him so much. He said happily and clapped his hands, “I will choose the money, of course. But don’t play any tricks with me. If you want your children back, you sign the contract now. I have consulted a lawyer first. I know what’s going on. And you won’t fool me like before.”
“Give me the contract and a pen. I’ll sign it now.” Estelle couldn’t wait anymore.
The three children were so young, so the accident today would easily have a bad impact on them. And Christina was so weak and had already fainted. Estelle couldn’t bear the thought that anything bad would happen to her again.
After looking carefully at Estelle’s face and her moves, Victor was sure that she didn’t plan to do anything dangerous and finally took out a contract from the drawer under the table. He fixed his eyes on her the whole time and didn’t give her a chance to fight against him.
Estelle could only give up her immature plan. She took the contract and quickly signed her name without even looking at it. “I have signed it, and you should keep your promise and give me my children.” She pushed the contract back to Victor.
Victor took the contract with one hand and the pen with the other in case she turned the tables with a little thing like that. Having dealt with Estelle before, Victor knew this woman was quite tough and intelligent, especially when she was in a desperate situation.
“Is it done now?” Estelle asked impatiently.
“Well, I need to reread the contract in case I miss some details.” Said Victor, reading the contract page by page.
Earlier, Victor asked a lawyer to draw up the contract, and what Estelle did was only sign her name on it. Even if Victor made a mistake at this moment, she didn’t dare to risk her children’s safety to do anything dangerous.
Victor deliberately read slowly, as if he was torturing her in his way. It took him a long time to finish one page, and he looked through the contract again and again and then finally put it down.
“Victor Fox!”
“What’s the hurry?” It seemed that Estelle annoyed him. Victor touched his ear and looked at the contract again happily.
As Estelle stared at him, he opened the window behind him. The children were still hanging outside, and even Yvonne stopped crying.
Yet, Estelle could do nothing but let Victor decide their destiny. The next second, however, he suddenly changed his mind.
“Why should I keep my promise?” Victor suddenly said, his face gloomy. Then he continued arrogantly, “You have nothing to bargain with me now. The Hans family belongs to me, and you and Cristofer will soon experience a poor life when you have nothing at all. I will enjoy looking at how miserable you are. It’s time for you to live the life that I used to have!”
He had imagined countless times what would happen if Cristofer was the one who lived outside the family. Now, Victor was thrilled that he could finally turn his imagination into reality.
“You promised me!” Estelle shouted desperately with her face stiffened, “It will do you no harm if you give me my children back! You have already got everything you want! What else do you want?!”
“But I’m still not completely assured.” Victor had fully prepared for today and even considered all the possible surprises the lawyer told him about. He smiled evilly at Estelle, “Unless the three children are all gone. Then no one will doubt their uncle’s right of inheritance.” The moment he finished his sentence, he took out a lighter he had put in his pocket a long time ago, lit it up, and slowly moved it under the rope.
“No!” Estelle had jumped to the table and looked anxiously around to find some weapon in the attic that she could use. However, there was nothing but the stick beside Victor’s feet and a chair. She said in despair, “You said that you didn’t want to be a murderer!”
Victor shrugged indifferently, “I just thought of one thing. This villa is near the sea, so if they fall into the sea and no one can find their bodies, I won’t be a murderer, right?”
Estelle suddenly felt a shiver down her spine. She said to herself, ‘Victor, you never intended to let any child go! You did all those things just now only to enjoy torturing me….’
“Mom, don’t worry, and don’t beg him. I’m not scared at all. Dad is a superhero. I believe he will come to save us.” Yohan’s voice had already become weak, but he remained calm.
Tears immediately welled up in Estelle’s eyes. ‘Cristofer…. Are you on the way here? If you are…’
“You are such a brave kid.” Grinning hideously, Victor put the lighter under Yohan’s rope and asked, “Superhero? Your dad is no superhero. He’s just an arrogant and annoying evil!”
Yohan gritted his teeth and glared at him, “My dad is not evil. You are!”
Victor chuckled, playing with the lighter and putting the flame near Yohan’s rope. He slowly said, “Good boy, this world has no superhero. Besides, your father is only a cripple now.”
“Yes, there is! My dad is busy because he is always saving the world and helping people! He’s not like you. You only know how to kidnap children like us. You don’t deserve to have my dad’s face!”
Instantly, Victor’s face suddenly changed. He snapped, “Aren’t you afraid that I will burn your rope?”
“Go ahead. But you must let go of my sisters.” Yohan tried not to cry, though his voice was trembling. “Dad told me I was strong and I should protect them.”
“No….” Yvonne hiccupped out of nervousness and said bravely, “Burn my rope. I… I would rather die for my brother and Christina. My brother is the most intelligent among us, and Christina is my younger sister, so I should be the one! Burn my rope!”
Her words broke Estelle’s heart, though she was a little incoherent. And Estelle felt as if something blocked her throat and that she couldn’t say anything.
