Victor nodded, not touched by the scene at all, “You have a close relationship with your siblings. In this respect, you are much better than your dad. But….”
“Estelle, I will choose for you if you don’t want to.” Then he lit up the lighter again and moved the blue flame outside the window.
Estelle felt as if an invisible giant hand gripped her heart. And she pleaded, “Can I die for them? Please?”
Victor happily fixed his eyes on her and said, “No. No one can change the rules of my game. What about starting with this boy? I remember that the old man liked him.”
Yohan was obviously very scared, his face pale. Then he looked at Yvonne, who tried not to cry, and at Christina, who was still unconscious and was silent.
“Wah!” Yvonne finally couldn’t refrain from crying and breathed heavily. “You are such a bad man! Put my brother down!”
Estelle shouted hysterically, “Victor Fox! I will kill you!”
“I don’t care.”
Suddenly, a black shadow flashed behind Victor, and Estelle was startled.
“Still haven’t made your choice? Does this mean you agreed to let the boy die first? Little boy, you are Yohan, right? Did you hear that? Your Mom wanted you to die first.”
“Wait!” Estelle said quickly, “Let me think for a minute….”
‘We are near the sea with few people around. It is unlikely that a passerby will suddenly appear. Could that shadow be…?’ At the thought, Estelle immediately became cheerful, but she didn’t dare to show any emotion on her face. And she tried to repress the scream that was going to shoot out of her chest. ‘I must stall Victor for as long as I can, whether the shadow is Cristofer or not.’ Estelle pondered.
“Victor, if I choose one child, will you let go of that one? You lied to me once. I can’t trust you now.”
Hearing Estelle’s words, Victor laughed arrogantly, “Estelle, even if I lie to you, what can you do to me?”
At that moment, the black shadow flashed again and seemed to be outside the window. Estelle clearly saw that the man moved swiftly, though his legs looked a little weird.
‘It is him! It really is Cristofer!’ Estelle was greatly relieved. When Victor squinted his eyes and enjoyed looking at the desperate expressions on her face, she cried half-heartedly, “You should at least leave one child for me! God, Victor! Please leave one for me. Please….”
Outside the window, Yohan also felt the changes around him, though he was still hung by the rope. He lifted his head to look up and suddenly saw Cristofer. Feeling pleasantly surprised, he whispered to Cristofer in a meager voice, “Dad, we’re here. Yvonne and Christina are beside me. You can save them first from the side.”
Cristofer looked back at him approvingly and slowly crouched down, supporting himself against the rough wall outside the attic. He was outside the wall behind Victor, but the wall couldn’t block any sound from getting inside the attic. The situation would immediately change once he made any noise when he put the children down.
Victor wasn’t afraid of anything, but Cristofer couldn’t risk the children’s lives because they were the most important people in the world to him. At the same time, Estelle tried her best to buy time by preventing Victor from turning around. She shouted, “I know you want to see me suffer. If all the children die, I won’t be able to live anymore. Then you won’t see anything fun.”
Her desperate struggle, though fake, successfully brought Victor pleasure. He said more excitedly, “It’s better if you die. Don’t you have lung cancer? You should have died a long time ago. I’m sure the look on Cristofer’s face must be miserable….”
Cristofer suddenly stopped while he was still holding Yohan. Fortunately, Yohan grabbed his hands after stepping on the edge of the window and soon stood stably on the windowsill outside.
Cristofer gritted his teeth and quickly gathered himself up. Both Yohan and he knew that Victor was an evil who wasn’t afraid of death, so neither made any sound and mouthed to each other. Cristofer told him, “Support yourself against the wall and walk outside. Wait for me at a safe place.”
Then he loosened the rope around Yohan’s wrists, tied it around his waist, and softly pushed Yohan so that he could walk to the side. After making sure Yohan was safe, Cristofer took a step toward Yvonne.
Yvonne hadn’t felt scared since she saw Cristofer. She pouted with the urge to cry and smiled.
“Dad, I want to stay here and help you.” Yohan mouthed, pulling Cristofer’s coat. “It’s too dangerous for you to stand this way. I have a rope around my waist, so I won’t fall even if I miss a step. Maybe I should pull the girls here first, and you can lift them.”
Cristofer was proud that this boy wasn’t scared in danger and still could make a practical suggestion at such a young age. He said in relief, “Okay. Be careful.”
Yvonne took a sigh of relief and whispered, “Dad, Yohan, you should pull Christina up first. She is lighter than me and has been unconscious for a long time. I’m very worried about her.” Meanwhile, Yvonne subconsciously snorted and looked anxious, with tear buds rolling down her cheeks.
Cristofer and Yohan nodded to her. With the rope around his waist, Yohan swung slightly and pushed Christina to his father.
Cristofer made a great team with him, holding Christina firmly and putting her in a safe place. The little girl was completely unconscious and seemed to be in a terrible state, which made Cristofer frown.
Then Yohan moved to Yvonne. But suddenly, an accident happened. Victor said something and suddenly set fire to Yvonne’s rope.
“Estelle, when did you become so whiny? I’ve already made the choice for you,” Victor said with a deep frown.
“No!”
Seeing that Yvonne felt like falling without any protection, Estelle felt that her soul was taken away from her with Yvonne, and she couldn’t even feel the pain of bumping herself against the wall. Once she got up, she rushed to the window.
Victor didn’t stop her this time. Instead, he stood beside her and watched her with a wide smile.
Estelle almost jumped out of the window, but another person was faster than her. Cristofer first grabbed the end of the rope and forcefully pulled Yvonne to his arms with the help of his excellent judgment and techniques he learned from years of exercise. They rolled for a long distance after falling to the ground.
