When they arrived back at the welfare house, the separate room for Henry was already prepared.
The moment Rebecca saw Mr. Mysterious, she was taken aback. Her eyes widened, and she tightly held Estelle’s hand, almost screaming, “Oh my God! He looks exactly like Cristofer! If you hadn’t told me who he is, I would have thought he was Cristofer!”
Estelle reassured her, “If you get to know him, you’ll see that they are different. Listen to his voice. It’s distinct from Cristofer’s.”
Not far away, Mr. Mysterious had carried Henry into the room and gently placed him on the bed. He was conversing with Ms. Kosslyn about Henry’s condition.
Rebecca attentively listened to him. “You’re right. Mr. Mysterious’ voice has a more husky tone.”
“Yes.”
“What’s more, Mr. Mysterious looks much more decent. It’s obvious that he is a good guy,” Rebecca smiled.
Then she continued, “Although Mr. Mysterious and Cristofer look the same, they gave me different feelings when I saw them. Cristofer always frowns and looks unhappy, as if he has something on his mind. Anyway, I think he is unapproachable. But Mr. Mysterious is different. He looks more gentle, decent, and upright.”
“You can discern what kind of person Mr. Mysterious is just by looking at him?” Estelle asked.
“Of course,” Rebecca replied with pride, raising her eyebrows. “Why doesn’t Mr. Mysterious reveal to Cristofer that he’s still alive?”
Estelle shook her head and said, “I don’t know. Maybe something between them has led Mr. Mysterious to avoid reuniting with Cristofer.”
“Alright. By the way, Estelle, Justin has arranged for the best psychiatrist in our city to come and treat Henry. The psychiatrist will be here soon,” Rebecca informed her.
As she finished speaking, they heard the sound of a car engine approaching from outside.
A car slowly stopped at the gate of the welfare house, and a middle-aged man in his fifties in doctor’s overall got out of the car with a medicine box in his hand.
Seeing him, Rebecca ran over in a hurry and asked, “Excuse me, Sir. May I know if you are Dr. Cruise?”
“Yes, I am. Are you Miss Miller?”
“Yes! Dr. Cruise, a five-year-old boy here, is diagnosed with depression. He seems to be seriously ill, and he even jumped into the river to attempt suicide today!”
Hearing her words, Dr. Cruise nodded and responded, “When patients with depression have an attack, they will lose control of their emotions. And if they don’t accept treatment and take the medicine regularly to control the disease, they will get worse, and the consequences will be devastating.”
“You mean he may attempt to commit suicide again?” Rebecca inquired in surprise.
“Yes. And the illness may affect both his mental and physical health,” Dr. Cruise said, looking at her seriously.
“Oh my God… Dr. Cruise, please help Henry. He is still so young. I really can’t bear to see him torture himself anymore,” Rebecca begged as she couldn’t help becoming anxious.
“Miss Miller, don’t worry. I’ll assess him first and then create a treatment plan. Depression can be treated with medication. It’s not incurable,” Dr. Cruise reassured calmly.
“Alright, alright…” Rebecca replied and carefully took the medicine box from his hand. “Let me assist you with the medicine box. Henry is in such a pitiful state. Please help him…”
Rebecca then led Dr. Cruise to Henry’s room, with Estelle following behind.
Henry had already awakened. At this moment, he sat on the bed, staring blankly at the ground, while Mr. Mysterious sat beside him, speaking in a hushed voice.
As Mr. Mysterious stood up, he accidentally bumped into Rebecca, who had hurriedly entered the room.
“Ouch!”
When Rebecca lost her balance, Mr. Mysterious immediately reached out to help her stand steadily.
“Are you okay?” he asked.
“I’m okay. Thank you.”
Out of the corner of his eye, Mr. Mysterious saw a familiar figure. Then the next moment, his eyes met Dr. Cruise’s, and both of them were stunned.
In this room, no one was more familiar with Dr. Cruise than Mr. Mysterious was.
“You are… Cris…”
Before Dr. Cruise finished his words, Mr. Mysterious smiled and interrupted him, “Doctor, this child is not in good condition. Please check on him quickly.”
Surprised by Mr. Mysterious’ response, Dr. Cruise gazed at him intently for a moment and then spoke as if they were strangers, “Alright.”
Soon, he paid all his attention to Henry, patiently talked with him, and observed his reaction.
Concerned about the possibility of his identity being revealed, Mr. Mysterious discreetly left the room, ensuring he was out of Dr. Cruise’s sight.
In the room, Dr. Cruise was chatting with Henry.
To make Henry feel at ease, Ms. Kosslyn and other teachers, who were concerned about Henry, went out of the room.
Rebecca, who was very worried about Henry, looked inside through the window on the door.
Observing Rebecca’s demeanor, Estelle gently patted her shoulder and advised, “Give Henry some private space. He is currently highly vigilant toward the outside world. The doctor can better understand his condition only when he feels completely at ease during the conversation. If you keep watching him, he might feel uneasy.”
Upon hearing Estelle’s words, Rebecca cast a concerned glance at Henry and then reluctantly walked away with Estelle.
“Estelle, I have a bold idea.”
“You want to get married and adopt Henry?” Estelle inquired immediately.
“I have sought advice from a lawyer about this issue before. Unfortunately, due to Henry’s mental illness, I might not meet the adoption requirements even if I were to get married. While Henry’s mother has passed away, his father is still alive. As a father, he is responsible for taking care of and raising Henry. Currently, Henry is suffering from a severe illness and living a difficult life, while his father enjoys a good life. It’s truly unfair.”
“It is indeed unfair,” Estelle replied with a sigh.
“Your experience was similar to that of Henry’s mother. Back then, when Yohan was sick, you had to beg Cristofer to have another child with you to save Yohan. When you are helpless, what did Cristofer do? He was dating another woman. And at that time, only your friend helped you take care of Yohan. Has Cristofer done anything for Yohan these years? No. It’s so annoying!”
Hearing this, Estelle smiled bitterly and responded, “It’s all in the past, and it’s meaningless to talk about it now.”
“I know. Fortunately, you have gone through the most difficult time. Now Yohan is healthy and good, and Yvonne is cute. You are blessed with such two adorable children. Estelle, Mr. Mysterious, and Cristofer came from the same fertilized egg, but why are they so different? Mr. Mysterious is kind, gentle, and good to the children, while Cristofer is cruel and cold-blooded.”
