Fortunately, Mr. Mysterious took Henry from her arms with exceptional gentleness, managing not to wake him. Despite his left arm being injured, he held Henry comfortably.
Observing Henry sleeping soundly in Mr. Mysterious’ arms, Estelle felt relieved and finally stretched her sore and stiff arms.
“Sir, why didn’t you drive your car?” Estelle asked. “Why do you suddenly ride a motorcycle these days?”
Mr. Mysterious chuckled and said, “I’ve sold all my cars. I’ll sell all my properties these days so that we can leave here as soon as possible after you’ve finished with all the matters here.”
“I see. Sir, I feel that you have changed a lot recently.”
“Have I changed a lot?”
Estelle nodded, “You are more real than when you were before.”
“I’m more real?” Cristofer savored her words and was somewhat confused.
“Yes,” Estelle smiled and said, “When I first met you, I thought you were like an all-powerful God, always there to help me when I needed it the most. Later, when I learned about your true identity, I felt like you were a divine being sent from heaven, taking human form to be with me. And strangely, being with you gives me a sense of familiarity.”
When Mr. Mysterious heard her words, his expression froze, and then he said with an unnatural smile, “You have a feeling of familiarity? It must be fate. We are destined to be together.”
However, Estelle shook her head and said, “No, it’s not because of that. I had the same idea as you before. But when I was tending to the wound on your arm, I realized that the feeling of familiarity comes from your personality, which is similar to someone I already know.”
“Who’s that person?” Mr. Mysterious asked.
Estelle replied with a gentle smile, “Cristofer. Lately, I’ve been reminiscing about the past, the moments between him and me when we were young. Then I noticed that some of your words, expressions, and actions are strikingly similar to Cristofer when he was young.”
As she thought about Cristofer, she let out a sigh and continued, “Unfortunately, he’s completely changed from what he used to be. Perhaps the car accident was a cruel blow for him, transforming him from a gentle and patient person into someone ruthless and full of anger.”
When Mr. Mysterious heard Estelle’s words, the smile on his face froze, and he felt a little embarrassed. “Estelle, I’m what I am.”
“I know that,” Estelle gently murmured.
Mr. Mysterious smiled bitterly, thinking.
‘No, you don’t understand. You know me as Mr. Mysterious, but you don’t know that I am also Cristofer, the person you can never reunite with.’
‘Forget it.’
‘I’ll let Cristofer disappear from your life.’
‘From now on, I’ll be your Mr. Mysterious. I’ll love you, take care of you, and spend the rest of my life with you, embracing the identity of Mr. Mysterious.’
‘God had been merciful enough to me, and I should be content with my current life.’
‘At least I can still be with you and have the chance to compensate for the harm I caused you.’
“Sir, will Henry hate me when he grows up and knows that I lied to him?”
“Will you hate me if you know that I lied to you?” Mr. Mysterious asked in reply.
Estelle turned to look at him and blinked. “Are you referring to you lying to me about your injury? It’s a white lie. I can understand that you told this white lie because you don’t want me to worry about you. I won’t hate you for it.”
“You mean as long as whatever lie I tell is a white lie, you won’t hate me, right?” Mr. Mysterious asked attentively.
“Maybe,” Estelle smiled at him, saying, “But it all depends on what you lie to me about. If it’s about important matters… I’m not sure. The future is uncertain, and anything could happen.”
“What do the important things include?”
After contemplating for a moment, Estelle playfully teased him with a smile, “For instance, you could have been married before, but you lied to me, saying you haven’t.”
“I…”
“Have you been married before?”
Cristofer was speechless.
Cristofer thought, ‘Yes, I got married to you. And we have got divorced as well.’
Estelle was just kidding, but when she saw the hesitant look on Mr. Mysterious’ face, her smile slowly disappeared. “Sir, you… you have been married before?”
“Estelle, I promise you that I’ll never lie to you,” Mr. Mysterious replied without directly addressing her question.
“So?”
“Yes, I was married, but now I have got divorced.”
Hearing this, Estelle was stunned, and her mind went blank.
The sudden and unexpected news made her unable to react for a long time.
“But… But didn’t you say that you had a crush on me for a long time?”
“Yes, Estelle. You are the only person I love all the time. I didn’t lie to you.”
“Why did you marry your ex-wife? Was it for business reasons? Or was there another reason, like what Rebecca did before? Where is your ex-wife now? Does she love you? Will she come back and want to remarry you?”
Mr. Mysterious felt overwhelmed by her questions and had mixed emotions.
After a brief pause, he patiently and gently responded, “She is also in Hadale. She doesn’t love me, and she has no intention of coming back or remarrying me.”
Hearing this, Estelle nodded and said, “So you two got married out of commercial interests?”
Cristofer was speechless again.
“How is she now? Did she start a new relationship?”
“Yes, she is with a man who loves her very much, and they have two children. She is living a good life.”
Upon hearing his response, Estelle’s smile returned to her face.
“That’s good. In reality, getting divorced is probably beneficial for both of you. After all, your marriage was founded on commercial interests, and she was also a victim of that marriage.”
“Yes, she endured a lot because of me during our marriage,” Mr. Mysterious confessed with a guilty expression.
“Sir, don’t blame yourself,” Estelle comforted him. “Now she has found her Mr. Right and has two children. She will lead a better life in the future.”
Mr. Mysterious nodded solemnly, his eyes expressing deep sincerity. “She will undoubtedly lead a better life.”
“The news of your previous marriage did surprise me,” Estelle admitted. “I was completely taken aback by it just now.”
“Do you mind that I’ve been married before?” Mr. Mysterious inquired.
“A little.” Estelle pouted and soon regained her smile. “But I can accept it, just like you can accept that I’ve been married before and have two children.”
Seeing her finally smile again, Mr. Mysterious felt much relieved. “I feel lucky to have you and the two children.”
