“Miss, your wound is not yet healed. Please rest more. Leave these trivial things to me. Miss Grace and Miss Luna won’t be bothering us for the next few days. You should just stay in bed these few days. The doctor says that your internal organs were severely injured. Prince Sebastian is such a cruel man, how can he do this to you? You should stay away from him from now on…”
Mary was in no mood to listen to Daisy’s constant chattering. The pain in her body was making her grumpy. She felt the porcelain bottle in her sleeve and took it out, there were pills inside.
Together there was a note that said “Oral Taking” in an elegant but powerful scrawl. The commanding and dominant calligraphy reminded Mary of that man on the street, making her loose herself in thought.
After a few minutes, her head began to feel dizzy again. Knowing she was not fully healed, Mary put down the bottle and rested her eyes.
She wouldn’t eat strangers’ food anyway.
By the time Daisy came by to check on her, Mary had already fallen asleep. Daisy lowered the curtains and crept out of the room.
Meanwhile, in the side consort’s Chamber, two bodies came hurdling toward her as soon as she entered the room.
“Mother! Are we really required to copy the ‘Conducts of the Lady’? It has so many pages!” Grace massaged her mother’s shoulder gently, pouting as she spoke.
Amy was not far behind, massaging the other shoulder and whined, “Mother was just putting on pretense for others, you are so good to us, and you wouldn’t bear to see us miserably copying that awful book, would you?” Her voice was dripping honey and was softening the side consort’s heart swiftly.
The side consort always spoiled her two flesh-borne daughters. She never raised her hand or even her voice at them. Looking at her two sweet girls, she softened her demeanor and patted them on the hand gently. “You should befriend Luna. As for Mary Debeur, she seemed actually quite normal today and was not foolish at all. Describe her behavior to me again, if she is recovered from her ‘illness’, we shall make her ‘unfit’ again.” She laughed coldly.
Things were rather peaceful the next few days. The three sisters did not come troubling her again and the side consort did not question her, let alone the Lord Regent. Mary did not see her father once since she woke up.
It was to her absolute delight that no one interrupted her.
Mary had been practicing her assassination skills from her previous life. She was definitely not able to practice her shooting, throwing darts and fencing was unavailable due to the lack of tools, but she could enhance her combat skills more accurately.
Although she was the No. 1 agent in her field, she was never cocky, knowing there was always someone more powerful. Besides, she was taken down a peg by the man she met in this world; this made her more desperate to improve herself.
She had no one here, and the only one that can offer protection to her is herself. The only thing she could do to protect herself was to arm herself with defense skills.
Mary pinched her own arm lightly. Her face relaxed slightly as she felt a thin layer of taut muscles under the creamy skin.
This body was too weak. On the first day of her arousal, she was feeling fatigued after running only two laps around the yard. She pushed herself through it and it was not until the third day did she improve her stamina. By now, she was able to do the whole set of routine.
Picking up a cup of hot tea from the side table, she looked at her reflection in the liquid as she took two delicate sips.
It was a breathtaking woman, she was beautifully aloof with her slanting almond eyes, soft pouty lips and translucent skin tinged pink from her workout, giving her an alluring look in spite of her cool expression.
Mary clearly remembered she did not look like this when she first came to this world. It was not hard to deduct that she must have been poisoned with an extremely complicated drug, which tampered with both her intelligence and her physical appearance.
Her health was quickly improved by her exercise these few days and she was able to cleanse her body of the remaining toxins. This made her gauntness disappears, which was replaced by her actual features.
After having her tea, Mary moved to the bed to do some yoga.
Lifting one leg in the air and the other supporting her weight, she formed an elegant pose with her hand. The wind swayed her sleeves and complimented her peaceful expression, making her look like a goddess.
Suddenly, there were light footsteps outside the door, Mary’s eyes flickered and resumed into a normal position.
“Who is it?”
