Chapter 5 Chaos

Book:Miss Mystery Published:2024-5-1

The intruders were the three other daughters of Lord Debeur – Grace, Amy and Luna Debeur. These three sisters were always picking on Mary.
Grace impatiently waved Daisy aside, “How can a lady like me scare her? Such a foolish girl. Well, I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”
Although Daisy herself was being insulted, she only worried about her mistress’s safety. If Mary suddenly starts to act out, her episode would bring on more bullying. It was not the first time that these vicious ladies picked on her mistress. If mistress talked back, it would only aggravate them more.
But her worry was for naught. Mary drank her tea calmly as if she hadn’t heard them speaking, barely sparing the three girls a glance.
Seeing her words didn’t gauge the reaction she wanted, Grace’s face fell. She laughed mockingly as she suddenly recalled something, “Did you hear the gossip from the servants today? Somebody shamelessly pursued Prince Sebastian today and was slapped by his Majesty.”
“I heard it too. It was out of the kindness of his Majesty that he didn’t kill that tart.”
Grace was greatly pleased with her sister’s cooperation, “It was not the only scandalous thing she did. After getting punished for her behavior, she was seen by many people on the streets throwing herself at another man! ”
Amy chimed in, “Such wanton behavior! Doesn’t she care about her own reputation? Who does she think she is? Is she a beauty? How dare she touch Prince Sebastian?”
Luna snickered behind her hand, “You’re right, Prince Sebastian holds such noble status, some people only dreams of things they can never have! She serves to be humiliated!”
Listening to the three girls taunting her mistress, Daisy’s face was red and puffy like a tomato, tensing up as if she would like to throttle those tarts any second.
Mary drank her tea in silence, listening to their chatter expressionlessly, giving Grace an unknown glance.
Sneering at Mary and not getting any kind of reaction made Grace look towards her eyes. Mary’s cold eyes somehow made Grace shiver and she automatically reached over to slap her.
“How dare you look at me like that, you fool!” Grace glared and raised her hand.
Mary saw right through her intention as soon as she moved her fingers. She sneered inwardly and waited for Grace’s next move unflinchingly.
Looking at the looming hand, Mary pretended to dodge and prodded Grace’s waist, making her skive off her original path.
“Slap!” That hand did land on a face. But not Mary’s face.
Grace looked at the unwavering Mary and then Amy who was covering her face, seemed to be at loss.
“You bitch! Why did you hit me?” Amy was beyond furious. She was only gloating about Mary’s humiliation on the side when this woman slapped her in the name of humiliating Mary!
“Who are you calling a bitch? I tripped! It’s not my fault, you were standing so close!”
Amy was beyond furious. “You tripped? How can you call it an accident when she is all the way over there and I am standing here! Do not fool me! I knew exactly what you said to Luna a few days ago!” Her face seemed to be on fire, reminding her of the assault she just went through.
She launched and started to kick and scratch.
“So what? I was stating facts!” Grace was fueled by her assaults and viciously started hitting her back, twisting Amy in a catfight.
“Hey, I was only joking!” Luna exclaimed on the side, “Don’t take it seriously! Don’t forget what we came here for! Stop hitting me! Ouch! Who hit me?”
Luna was laughing on the inside when she saw two sisters fighting, but she acted like the peacemaker and reprimanded her sisters. But the fight was getting out of hand and out of some mistake, Luna was scratched also. The pain almost made her shed tears.
Luna wiped her face and saw blood. Seeing her prideful features being ruined, Luna was too angry to care about reason. She shrieked and joined the catfight. The three girls scratched and pulled at each other’s hair, using every method to hit each other.
Daisy stood by Mary, gawking at the fighting girls and her own mistress’s emotionless face.
Hearing footsteps outside her room, Mary schooled her features and hid her thoughts and emotions under her thick lashes.
The servants gushed in and stood in waiting lines as the side consort walked through the middle.
The three girls were too absorbed in fighting over their old and new feuds to notice people walking in.
“What on earth are you three doing? Disgracing yourselves by fighting like this! Right yourselves.”
