Being late to work the next day was inevitable.
When Susan left the house, there’s still a toast dangling from her mouth, causing the scarf on her neck to be dirtied with bread crumbs.
9 a. m. was her working time, but now ten minutes had already passed.
Edward turned around and saw Susan’s mom who was standing at the door. They both smiled hopelessly.
It was when he went back to his room then he realized his phone was vibrating non-stop.
Leo was the caller. He answered the call, “Hello?”
“The message that I just sent you, have you seen it?” Leo’s voice sounded urgent. This made him confused.
“I’ll see it now.” Edward wore his earphones and opened up the messaging app.
‘Breaking news: DBG Night and his mysterious lover’.
This was the title of the link Leo shared with him. It’s cover photo was a photo of him with Susan in ultra HD quality.
Edward squinted his eyes, his fingers gently slid across the screen. They didn’t mention Susan’s interview with him and Lonely. However, what replaced it was a photo of him and Susan with predictions written into an article.
He laughed slightly, but that laugh was of contempt and cold. It was a laugh that was even able to send shivers down Leo’s spine.
“Have you finished reading it?”
“Yes.” Many people had started to dig into his past and his private life. What Edward didn’t expect was that he too will encounter this someday.
“What do we do now? Susan’s colleagues are so cruel. How dare they step on her head and betray her,” Leo said pitifully. Edward interrupted him.
“I’ll hang up first. I have things to handle.” He immediately took off his earphones after saying. Leo’s shouting could be heard from his earphones.
Edward changed his clothes. Before heading out, he went to find Susan’s mom who was cleaning up the kitchen. “Aunt, may I know where Susan is working?”
“GL Building on C Road. The company name is… I forget. If I’m not mistaken, it’s on the tenth floor.” Susan’s mom noticed Edward’s going to go out. “Are you going to look for her?”
“Yes. There’s something I need to tell her.” Edward wrote down the address and departed.
Susan felt something was odd. She was half an hour late, but no one came to look for her.
At first, she thought it was a good thing since she didn’t have to find anyone. However, everything changed when her computer screen flashed the news published by her own company.
In the photo, she was sitting closely next to Edward Baron. They were smiling widely towards the camera. Lonely who was originally beside them was photoshopped out of the picture.
She suddenly stood up from her seat. However, no one in her office bothered to look at her.
Very good.
Susan glared at the editor’s office. Did they think that she doesn’t exist?!
She slammed two thick notebooks on her table, surprising everyone. Some even let out a scream.
“Are you mad?” A female colleague stood up and scolded. She pushed the glasses on her nose bridge, looking annoyed.
Susan crossed her arms and ignored her. The smile on her face grew wider. She scanned everyone in the room and clicked her tongue. She said calmly, “So all of you knew huh?”
“It’s just news. Do you think you’ve become a celebrity?” The same person said in a mocking tone.
She was about to roll her eyes when she was surprised with Susan’s dead glare.
Susan looked at her, as if was waiting for her to continue on. She then said, “I gave you the news yesterday so everyone knew about this. Yet, none of you bothered to tell me? None of you disagreed?”
“Have all of you become shameless for news?” Susan grinned. She looked at everyone while nodding her head.
The news between her and Edward went through everyone here, which meant that they knew about it. Yet, they still coldly pushed her towards the cliff.
“Susan Miller!” The main editor stood at the door and shouted at her angrily. He didn’t want this drama to go on.
