Chapter 49: INDUCE

Book:MATED TO THE LYCAN Published:2024-6-2

For the past three days, DeLorna had been feeling restless. She had been having a rather ominous feeling of something bad happening to her but could not pinpoint where the feeling was coming from.
All she could say was she was feeling scared. During the past three days, she had done nothing but get out of bed and pray to the moon goddess for Jefferson’s safety.
She had a feeling that he would be reckless in the war. Though she knew he was the strongest, being the strongest didn’t mean he was invincible.
She hoped that the moon goddess had accepted her prayers as she had spent almost all night praying for Jefferson.
Also, she had missed Jefferson for the past three days and she wasn’t able to sleep all night.
Any time she slept she would have a dream of losing Jefferson thus she denied herself sleep and started to pray to the moon goddess.
According to the stories, Jefferson had told her the moon goddess was a nice person and would answer her prayers. She hoped this was true.
The past three days had also made her get closer to Abigail. Though she was still a little bit scared of her it wasn’t like the way she was scared before. She realized that Abigail was rather a good person.
But what she didn’t know was that a snake was always a snake no matter what.
Also in the short span of three days, she had visited the elders which was against her wish. She was rather coerced into visiting them.
She found the elders very creepy which scares the hell out of her.
She wondered how they were able to live in such a dark room with no source of love light.
The only source of light was through the small open window. If it wasn’t because of the fresh air I was sure there would be no windows in the room.
Everything about the elders sounded creepy to her. She felt like they were Aliens or different creatures. She was just afraid of them.
Turning and tossing around on the bed she lay on. She tried to sleep but unfortunately, she couldn’t. She tried her best but to no avail, she couldn’t sleep.
All the methods she had tried weren’t working. She tried and tried but we were all futile. She had no choice but to give up later.
Suddenly a knock came on DeLorna’s door. Immediately she stood up from the bed and went to the door.
Opening the door she met a soldier standing with his head down.
Seeing him her heart began to beat fast and almost flew out of her chest.
DeLorna’s blood pumped faster than ever and her adrenaline rushed even became faster.
All sorts of thoughts were going on in her mind right now.
She was thinking of the possibility of what the soldier wanted to tell her. Was it good news or bad news?
If it was good news, would she be able to contain her happiness?
If it was bad news she was sure she would die right on the spot. All she hoped was that the moon goddess wouldn’t allow it to be bad news.
“Ma’am!” The soldier said softly, bringing DeLorna out of her thoughts.
It was then DeLorna realized she had spaced out in front of the soldier.
“What is it?” She asked softly, trying not to let her emotions and her thoughts be visible to the soldiers.
“I’m sorry for disturbing you ma’am but the Alpha sent me to tell you that he’s back. Currently, he’s heading to the elder’s place. Also, he said I should inform you to get ready that there would be a banquet in the pack in the next two hours.” He said.
“Is that all,” DeLorna smiled, trying her best to hide her happiness.
“Yes Ma’am, I will be taking my leave now.” The soldier replied, bowed and turned around.
Immediately the soldier left DeLorna felt huge as if something heavy placed on her chest had been relieved.
This was the news she had long been waiting for. Jefferson’s return.
Though she was sure he would return safely to her she could not help but worry.
Going back into their room she thanked the moon goddess for what she had done. Bringing back Jefferson safe and sound to her.
She knew he must be tired but he went to see the elders first.
This meant something had happened that he needed to see the elders and discuss it.
Well, then it was none of her business she had to get ready for the banquet in the next two hours.
DeLorna didn’t know why but Jefferson didn’t tell her he was going to host a banquet before he left for the war.
Well, she guessed it was all for the best. Maybe he wanted to surprise her, that was why he didn’t say anything.
Sighing, DeLorna went into the bathroom to take a bath.
*****
Some minutes later she was done taking a bath and came out with water dripping all over her body.
Sighing, she went to the wardrobe to look for suitable cloth for the occasion.
She had to look outstanding as the Alpha’s mate; she mustn’t wear just any type of clothes she liked; she must dress respectably.
So she couldn’t wear Jefferson’s clothes; she had to look for something decent.
After some minutes of searching, she finally found a cloth she thought was pretty.
Putting it on she sat back on the bed waiting for Jefferson to come back from the elder’s place.
She was going to go to the banquet with him. Since she was his Luna she had to go to the banquet with him.
Suddenly a knock came at the door. Immediately DeLorna stood up at the door thinking it was Jefferson. But then this was Jefferson’s room as well; he didn’t need to knock before he entered.
Thinking of this she began to wonder who it was.
Getting to the door she opened it only to meet a maid with a plate of food in her hands.
“Ma’am, the Alpha sister asked us to bring you this. She said you haven’t eaten since yesterday night.” The maid said politely.
DeLorna wanted to say something but her stomach suddenly growled and a pang of hunger hit her.
Sighing, she collected the plates from the maid and closed the door.
Putting the food on the table she sat down and decided to eat just a little out of it so she’ll be able to eat when she goes to the banquet.
Sitting down, she started eating. But her hunger was more than she thought.
So in a few minutes, she finished the food on the plate.
Drinking the apple juice that was brought together with it she felt satisfied.
Standing up from the chair DeLorna suddenly felt dizzy as the urge to sleep caught her.
“I’m going to have a short sleep. I’ll make sure to wake up before the banquet,” DeLorna muttered lying on the bed.
She thought it was because she didn’t sleep the night before that was why she was feeling sleepy.
In a matter of seconds, DeLorna was asleep and didn’t know what was going on in her surroundings.
