Chapter 44: WAR

Book:MATED TO THE LYCAN Published:2024-6-2

(ONE WEEK LATER)
It had been a week now since the attack of the wolf pack on Jefferson’s pack.
During that week Jefferson had been living a peaceful life with his mate that he forgot totally about the war they were about to wage on the wolf pack.
It wasn’t that he forgot but he was reluctant to go to the war as he was having a good time with his mate and he didn’t want the good times to stop.
But good times didn’t last and soon it remained oy a day for the way.
Jefferson would accompany DeLorna to do many things in the pack during that week. By night DeLorna would have been tired and gone to sleep immediately she lay on the bed giving Jefferson breathing space as she wouldn’t allow him to rest during the day.
They had done many things together. She had even requested some strange things from him which he did.
When DeLorna seemed to be bored she would quickly think of something else she could do.
She had even asked him to teach her how to fight and was forced to teach her.
Though he only taught her some basic moves of self-defence. DeLorna was a fast learner and learned everything quite fast.
Also during the week she and Jefferson had visited the elders once more. Jefferson had ended up sparking for the elders as they had made DeLorna scared once again though he did that behind her.
Since then DeLorna hadn’t visited the elder’s place and was just trying to do new things in the pack.
By now everyone I’m the pack had grown to like DeLorna as she was cheerful and nice.
She was neither arrogant nor humble which made the pack members like her even more.
Jefferson was very happy when he saw how his mate and the pack members went along well.
At first, he had thought there would be some strife between his mate and the pack members but to his surprise, they went along quite well which made him very happy.
Though his mate was very stubborn he still loved her all the same and would never leave her.
During all this week Abigail has been in the pack and didn’t go out as she would normally do. All she did was eat and go back to her room.
No one knew what was happening to her or what she was planning. Jefferson had tried to talk to her but she had shut him out of her room. He had tried his best but she would say anything to him.
When he saw that his sister wouldn’t say anything he had given up and stopped disturbing her though he was still worried he pretended not to be as he knew his sister was very strong and would be able to solve her problems with her strength alone as no one could beat him in a fight except him.
Even if he was not careful when fighting his sister he was sure she would beat the hell out of him.
Well, who cares? Nobody cares. All he cared for was his mate and her happiness.
During all this time Abigail too had been making her plans. Racking her brain for all sorts of ideas but they wouldn’t just come.
So she locked herself in her room so that she would be able to think carefully and not do something wrong that would make her brother angry. But still, no ideas came to her head. It was all blank and she couldn’t think straight.
All she could think of was her hatred for DeLorna and how she wanted her to part with her brother and nothing else.
****
That night in Jefferson’s room. Jefferson lay on the bed with DeLorna in his arms wearing his pyjamas.
Wearing Jefferson’s clothes was now a norm for DeLorna. Jefferson had tried many times to stop her but to no avail, she wouldn’t listen and still wear it.
Jefferson had no choice but to increase his clothes by ordering one of his men to go to the human world to hear some for him so it would be enough for him and DeLorna to wear.
“So you’ll be going to war tomorrow,” DeLorna smiled looking into Jefferson’s eyes.
“Yeah I’ll be finishing off the grudge I have with the wolves,” Jefferson replied, a glint flashing in his eyes.
“Don’t die while in war I can’t bear to lose you,” DeLorna smiled.
Hearing DeLorna’s words Jefferson smiled lightly. “Don’t worry I can’t die, don’t forget I’m the strongest.”
“But that doesn’t mean you’re immortal, you can’t be reckless in a battle, who knows what could happen,” DeLorna pouted.
Jefferson shook his head in agreement with what DeLorna said. His mate had a point.
Even if he was the strongest he was
immortal yet so if he was too reckless he could die if he’s not careful.
“Don’t worry I promise to be careful,” Jefferson smiled and stroked DeLorna’s head.
“I’ll be waiting for you to come back,” DeLorna smiled.
“Let’s make some babies when I’m back,” Jefferson smiled looking into DeLorna’s eyes.
“I would want us to make five babies.” Jefferson continued.
Hearing Jefferson’s words DeLorna’s face went red in embarrassment and she used her hands to hit his chest playfully.
“Better go find another woman to make babies with. I won’t make babies with you,” DeLorna pouted with her face red.
“Don’t worry I’ll wait till you’re ready to make babies with me,” Jefferson continued.
“Ohh moon goddess why is my mate shameless?” DeLorna said, turning her head away from Jefferson.
Jefferson smiled wryly not knowing what to say.
“Aren’t you going to sleep?” DeLorna asked after some time not facing Jefferson who was by her side.
“I’ll sleep but that’s after you give me a kiss.” He smiled.
“I’m not going to kiss you. Good night,” DeLorna fumed, using the quilt to cover herself.
Seeing her actions Jefferson smiled bitterly and didn’t know what to do.
“Are you still angry with what I said?” Jefferson smiled.
But he got no reply from DeLorna. Observing her breathing closely he realized it was in a rather regular pattern meaning she had slept off.
Jefferson smiled at this scene. His mate had slept off so soon meaning she had been tried.
Smiling, he used the quilt to cover her body well so that she could have a good sleep.
He knew he must go now. He mustn’t waste much time. He had to move out with his soldiers as soon as possible. He and the other lycan pack leaders would meet where they usually have their meetings.
The distance to the wolf’s pack was quite great so they had to move out as early as they could to avoid unseen circumstances.
He was sure the wolf’s pack would have heard of their advancement and would also have prepared for war.
Thinking of this he got out of bed and went to his sister’s room.
Getting to his sister’s room he decided to enter without knocking only to meet his sister lying on the bed looking worn out.
“What’s wrong sis?” Jefferson frowned seeing the state his sister was in.
Abigail, who didn’t lock the door to her room, saw Jefferson enter her room without knocking and smiled. She knew he had done this to surprise her as she had shut him out of her room for the past week. Hearing his question she smiled bitterly and sat up on the bed.
“Nothing is wrong, I’ve just been worn out these days.” She smiled.
Jefferson sighed at his sister’s reply. He knew as much that she wouldn’t tell him what was wrong with her.
“Sis, I’ll be heading to the battle with the soldiers. I’ll be back in a few days. Once I’m back I’ll hold a banquet in the pack and we can all enjoy ourselves. Then I’ll be able to live a peaceful life with my mate without worries,” Jefferson smiled as he told his sister his plans.
Abigail smiled hearing Jefferson’s words. An idea had suddenly popped into her head the moment she heard his words. “we’ll all be waiting for your return.” She smiled.
“Also please take care of my mate while I’m gone. Though I know you don’t like her but please take care of her,” Jefferson said and forced a smile.
“Don’t worry I’ll take care of her,” Abigail smiled assuring Jefferson.
“I’ll be going then sis,” Jefferson said and walked out of the room.
Getting out of the room Jefferson sighed slightly and walked out of the house.
Getting outside he raised his head and glanced at the sky and noticed the moon was out. There were also stars surrounding the moon.
Right now he doesn’t know what to do. The conversation with his sister just now was flaccid. He had expected her to say more than what she had said.
He had expected her to tell him all her problems and other things that were wrong with her but she didn’t and just said she was tired. He had begun to wonder if his sister was pregnant.
He knew of her promiscuous lifestyle and couldn’t help but wonder if she was pregnant though he knew it was impossible still he couldn’t help but think about the possibility of his sister getting pregnant.
Pushing these thoughts to the back of his mind he disappeared away from sight. He was heading to the Soldiers place.
He had already briefed them of the war and selected the few that would be going out to war with him so he was sure they would have gotten ready by the time he got there and all they would have to do was to move out.
