Chapter 22: WOLF PACK

Book:MATED TO THE LYCAN Published:2024-6-2

DeLorna sat in the car thinking about the series of happenings in her life.
Starting from the time she was living a peaceful life with her friends to the time when news about a strange creature killing humans spread around the city and how she didn’t believe the news and denied its authenticity.
How the creature that was rumoured to kill humans appeared in her front telling her she was his mate. How she had refused to accept the fact and how she had slowly accepted it and fell in love with him and changed his murderous nature and how she had fallen in love with him slowly.
How she had tried to tell her mother but her mother had flared up saying she was lying. How she had angrily left home after arguing with her mother and started living in the pack with her mate.
How her mate had marked her. The hatred her mate’s sister had for her for no certain reason. The strange dream that had forced her to want to go back home to her mother and the attack on the pack by the hunters led to her mate and his sister going out of the pack with her to look for the hunters for revenge.
How she was shot in place of her mate and went into a coma. How she had finally convinced her mate to follow her to see her mother.
How she had convinced her mother after a series of long talks and how her mother had later accepted the fact which put down a hunger burden in her heart.
How they had refused to spend the night at the house and we’re to return to the pack.
Now her mate had gone off leaving only her in the car saying he had some urgent matters to attend to.
She wondered if all that had been happening was her destiny because the last time she checked she wasn’t supposed to have this kind of destiny.
The journey back to the pack was six hours so she wasn’t going to arrive at the pack until maybe dawn.
Thinking of this she yawned loudly and lay on the seat and was soon fast asleep.
The driver of the car continued to drive without minding DeLorna who had slept. He knew he must get her to the pack safely if he didn’t want to die in the hands of the Alpha.
He was sure if anything happened to the Alpha’s mate he was sure going to be skinned alive by the Alpha as he wouldn’t want to hear any of his excuses.
So he continued to drive on carefully, swearing to protect DeLorna with his life if he had to do so.

Back at the meeting scene. Jefferson looked at the leaders before giving a light smile.
“I don’t think we have to worry about the hunters for the time being.” He said.
“So why are we here?”
“We also heard that day one of the members of your pack was killed and you went into the forest with your sister and you ended up massacring a lot of hunters. So I guess they won’t be disturbing us for a while.” The chubby-looking man said.
“The real reason we are called this meeting is because of the wolves pack.” The tall muscular man looked at Jefferson as he said slowly.
Immediately Jefferson heard him he frowned but didn’t let his facial expression or eyes show any emotions.
He had a natural feud with the wolves pack. Though Lycans were supposed to be an ally to the wolves, his case was different. The wolves had done many things to hurt him.
They were the ones who planned the death of his parents even though his parents were killed by the hunters. The wolves clan had hated how much the Lycan prosper and had planned to get rid of them.
If not for the fact they had poisoned his parents beforehand, they wouldn’t have died at the hands of the hunter that night.
It was after a lot of investigation that he found out the truth. Since then he had hated the hunters and had been killing each one of them. He had been thinking of a way to get it back at the wolves as he couldn’t just kill them randomly.
If he did that he would be starting a war something he wanted to avoid but it seemed like a chance for retaliation had come.
Though he had heard the main content of what they had to say he was still very convinced that the wolves would be at fault.
Seeing that Jefferson didn’t reply and was deep in thought. The four didn’t know what to say anymore. They knew about the deep feud between Jefferson and the wolf pack and wanted to utilize his help to take them down. But it seems like he wasn’t someone who would be lured so easily.
After some minutes of deep thinking, Jefferson snapped out of his thoughts and looked at the four leaders.
“What did the wolf pack do?” He frowned.
Hearing him ask this question they immediately breathed in a sigh of relief.
They had thought he wouldn’t ask them and would just let the matter pass as he was unpredictable sometimes.
“The wolf pack has been causing trouble to our packs because they are stronger.” The tall muscular man said.
“Explain further,” Jefferson sighed. He didn’t understand what the man meant.
“The wolf pack had been attacking the weaker members of our pack anytime they got out of the pack. They would physically assault the females.” The chubby-looking man said.
“Is the situation like that for all the four of you?” Jefferson could not help but frown.
“Yeah.” The man clad in black replied.
I heard that they were going to assault the members of your pack next.”
“They dare not,” Jefferson growled, fangs sticking out of his mouth.
He sat back and thought about the possibility of his pack being attacked by some abominable wolves.
He couldn’t imagine the sight of his weak mate being molested by some wolves. At first, he was relieved when he thought about this as his sister would help protect the pack.
But then he remembered the hatred his sister had for his mate and was sure she wouldn’t try to save his mate.
Thinking about this made his anger boil. But he soon sighed in relief as his mate wouldn’t be arriving at the pack until six hours later which he believed he would be at the pack by then.
He sighed in relief thinking about this. If the wolf pack were to attack his pack that would be calling for war and he would gladly respond to it.
Jefferson raised his head and looked at the four leaders. “If the wolf pack attacks my pack then I’ll be going to war with them so it’ll be better for them to stay at their places.”
Seeing his actions the four knew they were able to infuriate Jefferson though they didn’t know how true what they had said was.
Unknown to them the wolf pack had been planning to attack Jefferson’s pack.
“Is that all we came for?” Jefferson frowned.
Due to the news, he was told just now by the four leaders he was feeling agitated and wanted to return to the pack as quickly as he could.
He could trust his sister with the affairs of the pack. He was sure she wouldn’t be in the pack right now and would be out partying.
Even if she was in the pack she wouldn’t care much about the wolves attacking as long as they didn’t attack her. He had been trying to talk to her about her nonchalant attitude but she wouldn’t listen. She had always ignored him no matter what he said.
He wondered how she had become that way. In the past even though she was a cold heartless killer she still cared about the pack.
The four leaders looked at Jefferson and sighed though it was the most important matter on the ground it wasn’t the only one they had other issues they wanted to talk about so they shook their heads hearing Jefferson’s question.
Jefferson had no choice but to sigh and look at the men. He couldn’t help but to want to go back to his back but he had to stay back.
“Then let’s continue.” He frowned at the four who were busy observing his actions.
The four men quickly recovered and started discussing other matters that had brought them together while occasionally involving Jefferson in it.
Jefferson could only use his feet to tap the floor gently as he waited for them to finish he had no choice but to wait. What could he do?
Though they were powerless to do something to him if he left he still wanted to stay to retain their dignity and not wash it off in the mud.
He was the strongest after all. And being the strongest meant he could do anything without them having the courage to refute him.
