Chapter 20: REACTION

Book:MATED TO THE LYCAN Published:2024-6-2

After six hours of a boring and long journey. The car DeLorna and Jefferson were in stopped at the front of a mansion.
The mansion was painted white. There were all kinds of flowers and other decorations in front of the mansion.
DeLorna sighed as she came out of the car alone. She was finally going to meet her mother after one long month of separation.
Though she didn’t know how her mother would react once she saw her. She was rather convinced that their meeting would be quite emotional. Though her mother could be quite stubborn sometimes and might even reprimand her for her actions. She might even want to stop her from leaving with Jefferson, something that was quite impossible.
“Babe, what are you thinking about?” Jefferson asked, smiling as he came down from the car.
After a lot of deliberating with DeLorna on their way, he decided to see her mother with her. At first, he had disagreed with her and said he would wait for her outside but after a lot of talks DeLorna was finally able to convince him.
So he was surprised when he saw DeLorna staring at the building deep in thought.
Immediately DeLorna heard Jefferson’s voice, she came back to her senses as she gave a light smile to Jefferson.
“I was just wondering what my mother’s reaction would be when she sees us.” She replied.
“Don’t worry all would be right,” Jefferson smiled, walking closer to DeLorna and pecking her on the cheeks.
immediately DeLorna’s face went red in embarrassment. “You shouldn’t do that, we are in public.” She muttered.
“You are mine so I don’t care what people say. If they dare say anything I’ll gouge out their tongue,” Jefferson smiled.
“You shouldn’t say that,” DeLorna pouted.
“I was just joking,” Jefferson smiled, holding DeLorna’s hands.
“Let’s go see your mum.” He smiled.
“I never knew you’d be this willing,” DeLorna smiled.
“Well, that doesn’t matter,” Jefferson replied walking into the mansion while holding DeLorna’s hands.

“Mum,” DeLorna called out to a woman who was sitting in the parlour immediately as she and Jefferson entered the sitting room of the mansion.
Sitting on the sofa was a woman in her late forties in deep thought. Her hair was dishevelled. Her hair covered her face leaving only a part of her face visible. under her visible left eye was a dark spot. it was obvious she hadn’t had a good sleep over the time.
The woman in deep thought looked like an older version of DeLorna. One could tell that she was DeLorna’s mother.
The woman deep in thought suddenly heard someone call her mum. immediately she raised her head to look at the person calling her. Because the last time she checked her daughter had packed out of the house after she refused to listen to her explanation and had been living alone since then. Though it had only been a month and some days she felt as if it had been a year. She wished she had been more attentive to her daughter and had listened to her explanation.
Suddenly she froze in shock when she saw the figure who had just called her. Her body trembled with excitement as she didn’t know how to feel. Should she be happy or sad? She didn’t know as she was having rather mixed feelings at the moment and it was hard for her to control her emotions.
Standing up slowly she walked towards the figure who was her daughter as tears fell from her eyes hugging her tightly. Ever since she left she had tried to look for her but to no avail, she couldn’t find her. Since then she had been subjected to intense thinking regretting her actions towards her daughter. When she sleeps she would have nightmares about her daughter.
Though she was sure that her daughter wasn’t dead. The thought of her being with a man made her feel bad. Though her daughter was old enough to get married she would at least at that time listen to her and get to know the person and then give her her blessings. She had prayed every day that her daughter should come back to her so she would at least be able to bless her. Then the regrets in her heart would lessen.
DeLorna looked at the woman who hugged her tightly and was crying gently on her shoulders. A pang of guilt struck her watching the woman cry. She didn’t expect to meet her mother in such a manner. All she had been expecting was her mother getting angry and asking her to leave. She didn’t expect her to be looking dishevelled. She could not help but hug back the woman as she consoled the woman.
“I’m very sorry for not believing what you said at that time.” DeLorna’s mother apologized as she sobbed.
Since DeLorna went missing she had gone to search if the creatures her daughter mentioned were real. After an intense search, she discovered that her daughter might be saying the truth and thus wanted her back to apologize.
“Mum, there’s no need to apologize I was at fault,” DeLorna said to her mother.
After a while disengaged from the hug and looked into her daughter’s eyes. “What would you like to eat? I’ll prepare it for you.”
she smiled.
During this time didn’t notice Jefferson standing by the side. Jefferson couldn’t help but smile wryly seeing this.
He wasn’t angry about being ignored as he knew that DeLorna’s mother hadn’t noticed him as she was focused on her daughter.
“Mum,” DeLorna called out softly to her mother who was quite excited.
“What’s it dear,” replied.
DeLorna didn’t reply. Instead, she pointed at Jefferson who was standing beside her. She knew her mother hadn’t noticed Jefferson or else she would have said something.
Immediately after hearing her daughter calling to her, she turned to ask her what was happening but didn’t get an answer. Instead, she saw her daughter pointing at her side.
Though she was confused as she didn’t know what her daughter meant she looked in the direction she was pointing.
Immediately gasped in shock. Standing beside her daughter was a man clad in jeans and a shirt whom she guessed was the man her daughter was talking about the other day.
She hadn’t noticed the figure all this while as she focused on her daughter. She was sure if her daughter didn’t point at the figure she was sure she wouldn’t notice the figure.
“W.. ho a.. re y.. ou,” shuttered as she managed to ask.
Jefferson smiled bitterly when he heard DeLorna’s mother’s question. He was sure she would have guessed his identity but she still asked.
“I’m DeLorna’s mate,” Jefferson replied after some time.
Hearing Jefferson’s reply took a deep sigh and didn’t know what to do. Her fears had come true. But at the very least her daughter came back to her with the man. She was sure DeLorna came back to ask for her blessings.
“Mum, this is why I came,” DeLorna said, jolting out of her thoughts.
looked at her daughter and sighed. “Allow me to get you something to drink.” She smiled.
“Mum, it isn’t necessary,” DeLorna said, stopping her mother before she could go to the kitchen while she and Jefferson sat on the sofa.
