“I gave him two drops,” Alexia said. To no one in particular.
“Oh well, it did nothing to him!” He shouted again.
Alexia left the room. She needed to cool her head. She stepped out of the room and while she was walking through the hallway, Kai grabbed her and dragged her into his room. He pinned her on the door and trapped her with both his hands above her head and his face inches away from her face.
“Do you still need that strong man?” Kai whispered.
She looked at him fiercely. Her silver eyes were intimidating.
“No!!” She firmly replied.
His face fell disappointedly.
“Feeling bad?”
“I was drunk.”
“I was not.”
“Banish those thoughts from your head.”
“You planted them there.”
“Let them wither away and die! Now let me go I’ll shout.”
Slowly, he took his hands off her and she opened the door and stormed out. Into the streets. She began to think about what just happened. Kai was alive. He was well and kicking. What could have happened? Amanda couldn’t have lied to her, surely not. She began to reminisce back if she ever did anything to the bottle or if it got replaced. She could not find answers to her questions alone in the street, she had to go back to the witch queen for answers.
She walked back to the palace and she was thankful that there was no Kai insight. She walked to Lucian’s room and he was there, he lay on the bed with the rays from the sun reflecting on him. He was not sleeping but he did not make a move when Alexia got into the room. Alexia knew at that moment that Lucian was angry at her. She looked at him on the bed, she was not one to beg men. She would manipulate them and force them to bend to her will. But Lucian was not any man, he was Lucian, her mate. She felt weak in the knees and she went over to him and bent down, taking his ear lobe into his mouth, she tickled it. Lucian startled for a moment.
“You can’t bribe me with ear licking.” He finally spoke to her.
She laughed and walked to the other side of the bed and lay down beside Lucian. Their faces met and they looked at each other smiling. Savouring each other’s beauty.
“I’m sorry.” Alexia finally whispered.
“I know.” He whispered back.
She did not say anything else and she pouted her lips. He laughed.
“You look adorable,” Lucian spoke.
“You are charming.” She whispered.
Lucian’s cheeks flushed red. Alexia laughed out loud.
“An old man is blushing.” Alexia teased.
They both laughed.
“Why can’t I stay mad at you?” Lucian asked.
“Because you love me,” Alexia whispered.
He kissed her softly and gently.
“I do.” He said.
Alexia told him that she will be leaving for the witches’ territory again. He did not speak. The day was still young and Lucian and Alexia headed out. They were going to pay Marcus a visit.
They walked out of the palace and into the clan. The clan was busy and normal and crowded. The ones who were in the woods were back and it was a full clan. They held hands as they walked and the Lycan’s trailing eyes rested on them.
They got to Marcus’s house and knocked, a servant opened the door and Lucian and Alexia walked in. The servant ran up the stairs and when she came back moments later, she was with Marcus and Zendaya.
Marcus looked older than when Lucian and Alexia had seen him last. His beards were out and unshaven and he looked tired and fatigued. Zendaya was another mess. She was paler than the last time Alexia saw her and she had a bulging stomach.
She was pregnant.
Alexia and Lucian were happy for the couple and at the same time worried. When they came down to meet Alexia and Lucian, Marcus shook Lucian’s hand and Zendaya hugged Alexia. After the exchange of pleasantries, they all sat down.
“You did not tell me Zendaya was pregnant.” Lucian was the first to speak.
Marcus sighed tiredly.
“I’m sorry.” He bluntly said.
“I’m happy for you Zendaya,” Alexia spoke up too.
Zendaya did not speak, she only nodded her head. She was tired and heavily pregnant. Alexia and Lucian exchanged glances and they understood each other. They stood up and said their goodbyes to the couple and they left. They walked back to the palace and spent the whole day with each other. Enjoying each other’s company.
*** MARCUS’ POV ***
Everything was going well and fine for him and Zendaya, the sex was good, and the couple’s life was bliss until some months ago. Zendaya was becoming very pale and tired, she started having morning sickness and mood swings and both of them knew what that meant. But they had to confirm it. They went to Marcus’s mother, she was one of the oldest female Lycans and she would know. When they got there, she examined Zendaya.
“It looks like pregnancy but you are a vampire. I don’t know for sure if it is.”
That was all the woman told the couple and they returned back to their house. Eventually, Zendaya was becoming paler and Marcus was getting more worried but her bulging stomach was a relief to him.
They had a child coming. Eventually, Zendaya stopped feeding him entirely, there was no sex and she became a nag. It was weighing the both of them down but it was more on Marcus.
The pregnancy made Zendaya despise him and Marcus could not wait for the baby to be born. But he was more concerned about the fact that she had stopped feeding on him, he wondered where she was getting blood from. He asked her once and she threw a lot of tantrums and he dared not ask again.
He was stressed and tired and worn out. His beards were unshaven and he knew, but he could not do anything about it. He couldn’t wait for the child to be born and for the stress to be over. He couldn’t wait to get back to his life with Zendaya.
