She could hear the exhaustion in his voice, he was extremely exhausted. She walked over to where he sat on the bed and touched his head with her hands and started playing with his hair. The action seemed to soothe him and he sighed deeply and she continued. She came closer and kept his head on her stomach now and he wrapped his hands around her waist. The position reminded her of Damian, the time he had come home tired after the hunt night.
“They are going against your father, not you.” She whispered to him.
“I know but there has never been a war among the Lycans and I do not like it.”
He whispered back. He felt safe with her like she was his safe spot. He could tell her everything without fear. He could show her his vulnerable side without fear of being mocked.
“Just don’t think about it.”
“There is more.”
They were talking in whispers.
“Tell me everything.”
He hesitated.
“They… They…” He sighed deeply again, unable to speak the words.
“Come on, tell me.” She rubbed his head and he closed his eyes.
“They want me to kill my father in the battle.” His eyes were still closed and his head was spinning.
“And…?” She asked.
“And I don’t want to, he is my father.”
She was silent. She did not expect that answer, she did not expect him to be so vulnerable. He looked mean and cold, he even had a dark aura. She expected him to jump on the offer immediately. The lycan king was a tyrant, even she knew it and he deserved it. Besides, with him gone, Lucian was going to be king. She didn’t see a reason why he didn’t want to jump on the offer.
“You’re going to be king.” She whispered to him.
“I know.”
“You should do it, you will be liberating the Lycans and they will be indebted to you forever.” She tried to persuade him.
He did not speak again. He just laid his head there on her stomach. They remained in that position for a long time.
“You should rest,” Alexia spoke up.
“You came into my room. Why?”
Alexia laughed.
“How did you know that?”
“I can perceive you.”
She laughed again. She knew that Lycans can perceive their mates from afar.
“Is that so? Why can’t I?”
He gave a short laugh and he didn’t say anything again. She went into the bathroom to freshen up and when she finally came out, she joined Lucian on the bed. That night, they slept on the same bed, cuddling.
ALEXIA’S POV
She was not surprised that the Lycans were going to fight the lycan king. She knew Marius for a long time, ever since she was a little girl and she knew him for his ruthlessness, injustice and lack of mercy. A sly man. she was surprised that the lycan only started this war now. She knew Lucian too but she never met the father or the son. She only met Lucian the first time when she ran to him for help.
This was her only opportunity, for her to expand her authority to the Lycans. Lucian was her mate and if he kills his father, he will be the king of Lycans and she will be their queen, She would never miss such an opportunity. She understood him well when he said he didn’t want to kill his father. Marius was still his father, despite his shortcomings but he was his father. But she was his mate and he must listen to her. She was going to make sure that Lucian becomes king, the lycan king and she, the lycan queen. She fantasized.

Lucian stayed with Alexia for a week and went back to the lycan clan. Before he left, Alexia came into the room they had been sharing, her room. She walked up to him and held his large hands into her small ones. She looked into his eyes and he looked into hers too. They stayed in that position, looking at each other for a long time. She finally spoke.
“Do it, liberate the Lycans from your father’s strong grip and let them bow to you and call you lord. Ruler over them, and together we shall rule them.”
He did not respond, he did not know what to say. He was taller than she was and she held his nape and pulled him in for a kiss, a french kiss. She broke the kiss after a while and her hands went to her head, she removed two hairpins from her hair and handed them over to him. He collected them, smiled at her and thanked her. She smiled too and didn’t say anything else, they continued looking into each other’s eyes, exploring each other’s beauty.
When he returned to the lycan clan, he did not speak to anyone nor did he want to. He went straight to his room and freshened up. He did not come for dinner and he did not request his food in his room either and his mother knew that there was something wrong with him. Maybe they had already told him.
Late at night, Lucian heard his door open. He knew who it was and he sat up quickly. He was not sleeping even though it was late, he just could not. It was his mother, she came in and stood at the door. He sat on the bed looking at her and she stood at the door looking at him too. They were just in that position for a long time, staring at each other. His mother sighed deeply and made her way to his bed and sat down. It was silent, extremely silent.
“I was not born wicked and mean Lucian.”
His mother broke the silence.
“Your father made me this way. When I realized that I was your father’s mate, I was only a servant girl at Raphael’s house. A jovial, happy servant. He picked me up and thought me how to be a queen. According to him, a queen was supposed to be mean, proud and arrogant, only then will she command the respect she deserves. I became the queen of his taste.”
