Of course, he won’t apologize or ask me to forgive him.
“Are you not tired, Luna? It was quite the long ride wasn’t it?” Cronus questions as I nod. “Alright, I will show you to your room.” Cronus smiles as he opens his hand to me which I take.
Holding my hand he leads me to a room. It had a warm fireplace and French doors leading to the balcony. A king-sized bed with red satin covers and a beautiful chandelier gave beauty to the room.
“Like it?” Cronus asks me to which I nod continuously as he chuckles. “Sleep.” He says as he pats my head and leaves closing the door softly.
A new environment. A new place. A new room. It scares me yet also seems to be a great refuge. Laying on the soft bed I look towards the fireplace. It looks like the same one in Deimos’s library. I smile to myself thinking of the memories I have at that place but tears come forth. No matter what heartache is heartache and pain is pain.
Closing my eyes I begin to rest as everything around me becomes calm, until I cannot hear the sound of the rain upon the windows or the pain of my beating heart.
The cold night comes to an end as the birds chirp at my window to which I rise and smile. I rarely see birds near Deimos’s pack more rabbits than birds. The bird is beautiful painted with the brightest of colours and a sharp beak.
“And is this my good morning call?” I ask myself as I smile at the bird.
“Ah, I see Caroline woke you up.” I hear Cronus’s voice behind me as I swiftly turn and the bird flies inside and sits upon his shoulder. Cronus strokes her neck with his finger as she leans further into him.
“Luna, meet my lover Caroline,” Cronus says to which I laugh.
“Lover?” I ask him as he chuckles.
“Yes, we have been through so much together. Haven’t we Caroline?” Cronus talks to the bird as she puts her beak upon his cheek. Cronus kisses her back. “I apologize that you had to see us make out early in the morning,” Cronus says to which I laugh once more.
I skip breakfast as I don’t feel like I can stomach anything right now. I just need some fresh air in my lungs to freshen me up. Stretching I head outside feeling the sun’s warmth upon my skin. The storm has left after its long fight through the night.
“Luna!” Cronus calls out to me as I turn around and look at him. “I apologize I was caught up with some matters to deal with. What would you like to do today?” He questions me.
“I don’t know. What do you have in mind?” I ask Cronus to which he thinks.
“Would you like to go on a bike ride?” He asks me to which I pout.
“I don’t know how to ride one.” I look at my feet a little embarrassed.
“That’s alright. I can teach you. Come on it’ll be fun.” Cronus smiles to which I nod excitedly.
Cronus leads me to a shed. It seemed like a large warehouse and deep inside were bicycles. So many of them. Why are there so many? Do they sell them or something?
“You must be wondering why there are so many of them. Other pack members like to come over for sightseeing so they use our bikes.” Cronus clarifies for me to which I nod.
Pushing a bicycle out of the warehouse Cronus turns around and looks at me. “Sit behind me, when we get to the sight I will teach you,” Cronus says to me adjusting the seats.
Sitting behind him I hold onto the back of my seat as Cronus takes us away from the pack land and into the open fields. The breeze that softly touches my cheeks and the warm back of Cronus ignites an overwhelming feeling within me. It feels peaceful.
Stopping near an empty path Cronus gets off and gives me a sly smile as I tilt my head. “Luna, your turn.” He says with a funny voice.
I move up and towards the driver’s seat and fiddle with the handlebar and pedal. How do I even control this thing? Do my hands do the work or my feet?
“Okay legs on the pedals and hands on bars,” Cronus tells me and I do it trying to balance myself. It seems impossible. “I will push you from behind so just focus on balancing, Luna,” Cronus tells me gently.
I swiftly turn and look into his eyes. “You dare let go and I will murder you,” I tell him with a serious look that makes him laugh deep from his belly.
“I promise I won’t,” Cronus tells me his truth and I look forward. I can do this. It’s not that hard all I have to do is balance and if I fall Cronus will catch me….. or laugh at me. If he does I will kill him.
Cronus begins to push forwards and I focus on balancing. The front-wheel seems to have a mind of its own moving left and right just not forward.
A few minutes later with me screaming at Cronus and him laughing in response I finally get a hold of it. I begin riding forward and look behind at Cronus to tell him to push faster. “Cronus can you see this? Push faster I want to-” When I look behind Cronus is far behind me and I scream.
“Cronus! You left me! I am going to die!.” I scream trying to balance as my anxiety gets a hold of me.
“Just ride Luna! Focus on the feeling it gives you.” Cronus screams back with a hearty laugh. Listening to him I close my eyes and take a shaky deep breath as I begin driving back to Cronus. My eyes widen as my mind finally understands that I am riding quite well.
“I am riding… I am riding it. Cronus are you seeing this ?” I scream to Cronus as he watches me with a gentle smile, his hands in his pockets. I laugh from my belly. I laugh so loud that my heart picks up its pace.
Reaching Cronus I drop the bicycle onto the ground and run into his open arms laughing. As he picks me up and swirls me around. “I did it! I finally did something I only dreamt as a pup.”
Everything seems at peace. I didn’t think about what happened yesterday. Cronus could change up everything in a matter of few hours. He had the power to make me smile and make my dreams come true one by one.
Perhaps I should plant my seed of hope and dreams here. Here, with Cronus.
