When a flower blooms the unmerciful cannot stand still and treasure it. It drives them insane to see the flower sprout and grow with warmth and beauty so they crush it. They stomp their feet upon the flower killing it and its seed. Just like Deimos who crushed my heart. He not only crushed my heart but the seed that bloomed with hope and dreams along with it.
As the raindrops fall upon the car window so does my tears upon my cheek. Ragon drives me to Cronus’s pack as a storm begins its wrath. It’s funny how the weather describes perfectly what is happening within me. There’s a storm in my heart and when I think of Deimos it thunders and strikes bringing forth pain.
Ragon refuses to glance nor speak to me. He is filled with guilt. The guilt of knowing. I do not blame him, his loyalty is to his Alpha. Yet I do not tell him this. The ride to Cronus’s pack seems to be really far and neither Ragon nor me were prepared for it.
“Why didn’t you tell me Cronus’s pack is quite far.” I finally break the silence with my hoarse voice as Ragon’s head snaps to me.
“You would have suggested leaving tomorrow yet I could see it in your eyes you really wished to leave that moment, Luna.” He tells me softly to which I don’t reply. He is right. I couldn’t stand being there in that castle another moment. A castle filled with coldness and lies. I now understand warmth cannot grow there nor can I be of any help.
The storm doesn’t cease and neither do we stop. Ragon keeps driving without stopping. He knows that I want to be there as soon as possible. I ached for comfort from a true friend. I look outside the window as Ragon switches the heater on. My cheeks softly lie upon the cold window as I close my eyes letting sleep carry the weight of my heart.
A soft shake to my shoulder wakes me up from my slumber as my eyes clear from clouded sleep. I look at Ragon. “Luna, we have arrived. I have already informed him of your arrival.” He tells me softly.
As I look ahead I see Cronus rushing out with a concerned look as I swiftly get up and though it is raining heavily I run to him. My legs push me to him as I finally have my comfort. My sobs grow in sound and pain and I finally run into his open arms as he catches me.
“It’s okay, I’ve got you. I’ve got you. Shhhh.” He whispers in my ear soothing me as you would do to an afraid pup. As I look to the side I see Ragon watching from the car his eyes in pain. He might never get to see his Luna again and that fills him with agony. He wishes for my return. I look away, sometimes it’s okay to put yourself first. I need time.
Cronus leads me slowly inside his home and orders one of the wolves to get me a towel. As I look around I see curious faces questioning as to who I am.
“Come, Luna.” Cronus leads me to the living room as a soft towel is placed on my head. He dries my hair and tries to make me look at him as my eyes wander around the room grasping everything.
“What happened?” He sits down beside me as I keep my silence. He waits. This is one of the things I like about Cronus. He doesn’t push me, he gives me time to adjust.
“He lied,” I tell him as he frowns. “About everything. He made me believe we could have a future. He made me believe he felt something for me.”
Cronus sighs as he answers. “What he has done is extremely wrong I agree yet there must be a reason.”
“There is. He wanted me to love him. He thought I would leave with the way things were going on between us. He needed me to stay so one day I would give him an heir.” I tell him as tears form once more.
“Luna-” Cronus begins but I cut him off.
“I don’t understand. You know all I wanted is for him to open his heart. I didn’t ask him for riches nor power. I asked him for such a simple thing and this is what he gives me. Lies.” I tell him my feelings as the sky thunders to my pain.
“Sometimes what might seem easy to you can be one of the hardest things to do for another,” Cronus tells me softly as I begin to fume.
“I came here for comfort not for you to support his actions.” My voice is stern and strong.
“I understand but do you? Why don’t you put yourself in his shoes?” Cronus questions me as my lips wobble. I get up and stride to the door and into the pouring rain.
“Luna! Luna!.” Cronus chases after me.
“Perhaps I was wrong to come here. I will seek shelter elsewhere. You are on his side! You are defending him!.” I scream to him. I do not know why I am acting like a pup but I just want someone to hold me and tell me it will be alright.
“I just want someone to… to-” I hiccup trying to tell him what I need as he pulls me into his arms.
“I am sorry. Let’s go inside and not talk about what happened. We can do whatever you want and I will do whatever I can to aid you.” Cronus tells me as I snuggle into his warmth.
As we get into the warmth of his home I am softly pushed into the bathroom for a shower. Finishing up I head down for dinner as I pass by Cronus’s office I hear his voice.
“Remember Deimos actions, words and choices bring consequences,” Cronus says as I open the door and he puts a finger to his lips telling me to remain quiet. Cronus paces back and forth as I watch him calmly. “You wish to speak to her?” Cronus looks up at me and I shake my head. “I don’t think she wants to.”
I leave the office not interested in their conversation anymore and get some dinner. I don’t eat with his pack I eat alone in the living room watching the rain that doesn’t seem to calm down.
I hear footsteps towards me and Cronus sits softly next to me. He switches on some device that begins to play light classical music. The music calms me as I finish my food.
“So what did he say?” I ask Cronus placing the plate on the table in front of me, bringing my knees to my chest.
“Nothing much, just checking up on you,” Cronus says as I scoff.
