I quickly glanced at Beca for a second as I drove back to the pack.
“Are you okay?” I asked softly.
“Yes.” She answered with a wide smile.
“I’m sorry, the food was a disaster.” I whispered as she burst out in laughter.
How the hell did it all go all wrong?.
Flash back
“Ken add some more water in the rice.” I instructed as I peeled the potatoes which were in the sink.
“No way, I’m washing the vegetables.” He answered as I frowned.
I turned and looked at Rhoyda who sat next to Beca with a huge smile across her face.
“Why are you even up Beca, you were supposed to rest some more.” I said when I put the potato pillar down and walked to her.
“I didn’t want to miss this for the world.” She answered as I chuckled softly.
“I would gladly still cook for you in our pack.” I answered.
She glanced ahead then laughed softly.
“Weren’t you suppose to add water to your rice.” She asked.
“Fuck.” I whispered under my breath then quickly rushed to the stove and turned it off.
I could smell the burnt aroma before I could even open the pot.
“Well, it’s just burnt a little, everything will be okay.” I said with a smile.
End of flashback
Everything went horrible from there.
The potatoes were overcooked. As for the vegetables, they were undercooked and bitter.
“Well, you tried.” She said between laughter.
“The food was absolutely horrible, far from trying. But to be honest, I’m really good at cooking. I just had a hangover.” I said.
She moved her hand and pressed it on my shoulder gently.
“At least the drinks were on point.” She whispered then leaned against her seat.
When my cellphone rang, I quickly parked the car at the roadside, then pulled out the phone from my pocket and glanced at it before answering.
“It’s Cole,” I whispered then answered it.
“Alpha.”
“Cobi, how is everything going?” He asked.
“Everything is going fine. Yesterday I went to alpha Jason’s pack to talk with his beta, Ken.” I answered in a respectful tone.
“How was he. Did he show any signs of disrespect?” He asked.
I looked at Beca who was looking back at me seriously.
“The beta and his mate, your sister, were very welcoming and super understanding. We went through the construction plan together and decided to begin contracting in the next two coming days. ” I answered.
“That’s a relief because I thought they weren’t going to welcome you properly.” He said.
“No, they were respectful, and to be honest. I’m looking forward to working hand in hand with Ken to serve you as well as your brother.” I answered.
He kept quiet for a few minutes without a word.
“Alpha,” I called.
“Cobi, thank you. I know how hard it must have been for you to go through with my orders. I know how you never want to submit to any other alpha besides me, you accepting the merging of our packs means a lot to me and for that, I’m very grateful.” He said surprising me.
Cole was changing. The alpha I knew and served wasn’t very kind nor concerned about others people’s feelings. The fact that he was saying all this meant a great deal to me as well.
“I’ll gladly follow you, Cole, even if it leads to my death. I’m kidding. I can’t die now that I have Beca.” I answered with a smile.
“Ah cut the crap, I know that Beca would be freaked out with your words right now if she was close by.” He said.
“Well, she is.” I answered.
“Can I talk to her for a second?” He asked.
I moved my phone and extended my hand to her.
“It’s alpha Cole.” I whispered.
She frowned then quickly took it and answered.
“Alpha.”
I leaned against my seat and watched as she cleared her throat a few times nervously.
“Oh no, I understand Alpha. I too shouldn’t have said a word to the Luna.” She said.
“Oh, thank you. Thank you so much.” She answered with a smile then looked at me.
“I know alpha, he is a good man. I will take great care of him, I promise.” She said then handed me the phone.
“Cole, are you dying?” I asked seriously in concern when I put the phone against my ear.
“No, why?” He asked.
“You are acting like you are dying. Stop apologizing on phone and saying corny shit. If you want to say anything to us that is work unrelated, then say it to our fucking face.” I said seriously.
“Damn you bastard, is this how you now speak to me?” He asked with laughter.
“Well, I learnt from the best.” I answered then sighed.
“Seriously, don’t worry, we will work everything out before your return. Everything will be in order and you will be impressed.” I said softly.
“Okay, take care of my pack and people.” He answered then disconnected the call.
“Is it just me or does alpha Cole sound different?” She asked.
“Different, how?” I asked while putting my cellphone back in my pocket.
“He sounds friendly and kind.” She answered as I chuckled.
“That’s because he has reconciled with his brother and mate. Not to forget that he is now a father.” I said then started the car and drove off.
My free hand was linked to hers while I drove with my other hand.
A smile touched my lips immediately our pack’s border came in view.
“Home sweet home.” I whispered as I drove past the pack’s border and approached the park house.
Immediately my car was parked in front of the pack house. I got off and went around to open the door for her.
“Thank you.” She answered then came out.
I took her hand in mine and closed the door behind us.
“Every pack member gather in the training field. I have an important announcement to make.” I said loudly in our pack’s mind link, knowing fully well that everyone had heard me clearly.
“Will you please come with me for a minute?” I asked Beca softly.
She frowned then looked around. A lot of pack members were rushing to the training field.
“Where are we going?” She asked.
“Training field,” I answered.
“Why?. Is something going on?” She asked in concern.
I moved closer, closing the space between us, and smiled down at her.
“I want to officially introduce you to them as my mate,” I answered.
“But…..”
“No but, if you want to really stand by my side then you will go there with me.” I said cutting her short.
She smiled and nodded.
It was high time that everyone knew who she truly was to me.
